  1. They are similar to a jewfish but smaller. Similar shape, mouth, colour and bloodline. They eat just as well. Generally school in big numbers so they aren't that difficult to catch once you find them. They bite rather softly and have softer mouths, so you either you circle hooks or don't strike intensely! Cheers scratchie!!!
  2. Lol....nah, I just have a small head!
  3. Jeff, shoal bay ramp is ok but very shallow on a low tide. It would be just the same launching it solo from either ramp but during holiday periods the council normally put a bit more effort (dredging) into little beach. Weather looks great for the weekend, so tight lines! Cheers scratchie!!!
  4. Cheers guys! Should cook up well for dinner tonight! Wish I was out on the water today! Beautiful conditions! But I did take the boy for a spin off the rocks this morning
  5. I think your right! Lol. There maybe a few kings at north rock too! good luck rick!!
  6. G'day raiders, Just a quick report. How good was the weather yesterday! Headed up past Broughton island with a mate and fellow raider jrcjamie at first light in search of a few decent snapper. Arrived at our spot and things looked promising as Jamie lands a nice one first drop! I'm casting sps and next minute bang, absolutely smoked by a horse that soon chews through the leader. We managed a few more pannies but things went quiet until the trag came on! Got our bag and had many a tussle with some solid Noah's! I managed a nice macky. Live bait was hard to come by for some reason. The day was a complete glass out. Water temp 23-24. Seen a marlin at the back of our boat that we were about to chuck a livie at, then realised a boat 100m from us was hooked up but he didn't know! Lol. Well it soon woke him up and after a few ariels spat the hook! Cool to see 20m from our boat! Decided to call stumps about 3pm and home early enough to cook dinner and watch the sunset! Awesome day and the fish were a bonus! cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Great story, great fish! Well done lads. cheers scratchie!!!
  8. Never heard of a marlin caught off Stockton! The head would have washed in. Stockton beach is speculated to be the second largest great white shark breeding ground in Australia. Hence, I don't go swimming there! The best gutters are about 7kms north of the signa wreck and yes home to many Jew especially this time of year with the run of the mullet. Cheers scratchie!!!
  9. Yep, certainly beats the hard slog of a day I had. Your last act of giving those blokes nippers will return you some good karma! Cheers scratchie!!!
  10. Wow!!!! And that's a relatively calm day. There's certainly a fine line between trial and tragedy!
  11. No worries! A mate up there today fishing the outer reefs and cleaned up! Try drifting between cod rock and the sisters in 15-25m and you should bag a few!! cheers scratchie!!!
  12. If you need a decky let me know! cheers scratchie
  13. So 3 anglers x 10 blue swimmers! You are allowed 30 in total. No boat limit applies! Just make sure you don't have 11 in the fridge at home!
  14. I stand corrected. I should have read it properly. Your bag limit applies per person and the only boat limit at the moment is on gemfish....... Boat limits Boat limits aim to limit the catch of anglers fishing in the same boat over a 24 hour period. These apply regardless of the number of people in the boat. Boat limits are intended to limit the overall recreational fishing catch and prevent the circumvention of personal daily bag limits by individual fishers through the carrying of non-fishing passengers in a boat. At present, the only boat limit applies to gemfish (10 fish).
  15. Well, it says in most cases the bag limit is the possession limit except with certain species (blue swimmers included) the possession limit is 20. In all cases the boat limit and possession limit are the same with the exception of charter boats! Thats the way I read it!!!
  16. He is correct. There is a bag limit of 10 per person and a possession limit of 20. The possession limit applies to the boat limit also! cheers scratchie!!!
  17. Nice work Dave! Certainly a few tailor about from the stones! Good to see you out with your dad enjoying the lovely weather we've been having up here! Cheers scratchie!!!
