  1. Cheers guys! Normally I take something home for a feed. We could have brought quiet a few back but today was just c & r.
  2. Dom had a short crack at them but it was too washy!
  3. G'day raiders, I caught up with fellow raider dom today and the plan was to fish the stones around harbour to one mile and see what we can come up with. With no real target in mind we started by throwing unweighted pillies and slugs with not much action. With the rising tide it was getting a bit big for my liking and it was time to move. After a 15min trek in, we were greeted by a nice ledge and we began to burley up. Dom was on first to a nice silver drummer and I was getting hassled by bait theives. So dropped down a hook size and started landing a few yakkas. So with my other set up I sent one out live and 10mins later I was on. After some great acrobatics and tail walking I landed a nice healthy sambo! So now the plan was set. Catch a yakka and throw him out fresh! Well we both repeated this process for the rest of the day nailing some cracking salmon, watsons bonito and a nice tailor. Many different species were caught throughout the day and all were released to fight another day. All in all great day out on the ledge watching the whales go by, getting buzzed by the jets and landing a few beauties along the way! Thanks for reading! Cheers scratchie!!!
  4. Ripper catch mate! You always remember your first, so to speak. Great write up Ben, but I can't see any beers in the ground??? Cheers scratchie!!!
  5. Does 5 dragons and king of the Nile count? Haven't mastered them but spent a shit load trying too!
  6. Lol I'm with you. If you've seen it twice already, it's only a matter of time before it's looking for a nice comfy bed.
  7. I will on my new boat in a year or two! As the ad goes "I need a bigger boat". The old girl should be going to greener pastures shortly!
  8. Well done mate, nice fish! There's always one more cast or last five minutes. Lol. Then you hook up and want another hour or so! Gotta love NZ! Can't wait to visit my brother in the near future and teach him how to fish! Awesome scenery, your very lucky! Cheers scratchie!!!
  9. Well there you go raiders! Gary has outriggers to suit nearly any boat, big or small. The offer to deliver and help (within reason) and 20% discount, wow! If your thinking of getting a set, I would suggest now is the time to do it!
  10. EP! It must stand for English Premier league because that fish looks like a football Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. Wow Gary! That's service! Now to just find a big enough boat to get me a set. Cheers scratchie!!!
  12. Longshank hooks would be no good for trevally. Great for whiting but the bend in the hook is too small in diameter for a big trev! 50cm plus trevally, I'd be using a 2/0 or 3/0 circle for sure! As mentioned they go hard especially at that size. It's easy to get excited and try over playing the fish. As mentioned, just take your time and enjoy the fight. Oh also, if your not using circles, when you get the take, make sure you set the hook. Cheers scratchie!!!
  13. Sounds like a great weekend was had by all. Some great fish there and that bream is a cracker! Always nice when a plan comes together. Thanks for sharing James! Cheers scratchie!!!
  14. You guys are on fire! It's great to see young kids out there walking the banks throwing lures etc. as you said, rather than sitting inside playing xbox. I remember when you both first started out and you have both come along way. You've listened, researched and practiced honing your skills and have had some great mentors along the way. I think for you boys it's more than a hobby now, it's an addiction! I enjoy reading your posts, keep em coming! Cheers scratchie!!!
  15. Depends what your fishing for. But lightly weighted works best for bream. No weight with fresh squid on a snelled rig into the current for kings. And general luderick set up for blackfish.
  16. Hey mate, No you will not get washed off the breakwall. If you did it would mean a tsunami. Check this post out and it may help you! http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=75391&page=3#entry552568
  17. Have a look at the pinned topic on this chat section. It may help. If not have a look on the gps marks section. I've put up over 150 marks for the area. Cheers scratchie!!!
  18. Welcome to the forum mischief! That's a great first report and congrats on a great catch. Certainly a good feed and some left over bait you've got there. Well done on helping a fellow angler too! Cheers scratchie!!!
  19. Without stating the obvious, is there any chance you can fit a larger tank? If not, a secondary tank would be the option IMO. Cheers scratchie!!!
  20. Steve, Stewy is an absolute champ when it comes to helping others with their rods, reels, re spooling, knots etc. He also doesn't mind cleaning the boat and gear! Now all I need him to do is comeback up and re rig the knots he cut off on my game rods because bugger me if I remember how he showed me! Glad a great day was had by all. Cheers scratchie!!!
  21. Love your work Ben. Your making me want to dust the cobwebs off the yak! Sounds like a great session. Great scenery! Cheers scratchie!!!
  22. Well done fellas. Great to see a couple of raiders get together and enjoy their time on the water. Sometimes catching fish is a bonus! You'll get them next time guys! Cheers scratchie!!! P.s you didn't need maps, just find yowie!
  23. The gates are generally locked at appletree and requires a fee for memory to have them unlocked. Great ramp and as swordy said easy to launch. Parsley bay is well lit and I've launched solo there before but is a little more difficult. No fees apply there. Probably the same distance to JBay from either ramp! Cheers scratchie!!!
  24. Great stuff Sam. Congrats on the birth of your baby. Not a bad first up effort after a spell. When the fishing is tough, a few flatty always save the day! Cheers scratchie!!!
  25. Anytime Trevor. You can show me how to catch blackfish!
