  1. Yep, seen it. Absolutely mind blowing. Yes, some very big scary bitey things out there!
  2. Well done pauls! Anymore information to your post than that? Cheers scratchie!!!
  3. Great stuff barcod! I could feel the excitement in your post. Nothing like an action packed session to get the adrenalin going and restore faith in the fishing gods! Good report! Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
  4. Where about a are you fishing??? Area??? Nepean??? If so, down that way. Early morning or late afternoon use shallow divers or surface lures. When you cast, pause for 3 seconds allowing the ripple to increase, then begin to wind slowly but constantly. You don't need to twitch or pause. If you feel a hit, strike. Remember at this point the lure is in its mouth. During the day when the sun is higher you may need deep divers. Anything in the 38-45mm range is good. Also remember, it's not a case of casting into the river and hoping. Find structure, find the fish. Overhanging trees or branches within the river are your main target areas! Good luck! Cheers scratchie!!!
  5. On the flats, or where there's some moving water that connects to the flats, try using a river2sea 38 or 45mm popper. When their on, they go nuts over it. Great to watch! Can't wait for those summer mornings to go target them myself! Cheers scratchie!!!
  6. Agree with Ian about towing the boat to the mechanic. Rego papers at ready and a booking, with details. Not sure about the weigh bridge though, the weight on paperwork should be enough. Check with your mechanic first! Cheers scratchie!!!
  7. Great effort! There's nothing like catching a whiting on a popper! Considering the dynamics of the fish been bottom feeders, I was a bit confused when I was shown the first time. But wow what a rewarding way to target a fish! It looks like a Sammy you were using? Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
  8. Great fish mate! Anymore information about your catch than that? Cheers scratchie!!!
  9. Sad story fab. The difference is you found yourself in a dire situation, not put yourself in one! Sometimes, by freak of nature, shit happens! These morons put themselves at risk. Put it this way, if I'm not fishing off the stones, do dare go kayaking! Cheers scratchie!!!
  10. I was never in danger! I'm very familiar with the area and would not get into a situation over my head. I'm still angry it wrecked my afternoon though!
  11. I'm really enjoying your reports John and it seems you miss OZ a lot. Btw, that is the cutest bonito I've ever seen! Cheers scratchie!!!
  12. TBH, this is now the 3rd time I've seen stupidity like this around my area in the last month. I watched I guy almost get swept from the rocks from my balcony and a tourist on paddle board in a rip! None were wearing life jackets. Might have to close my eyes, my blinds or just move west, I think! In the photo if you look right you can see the guy on the red yak and on the left you can see the abandoned capsized blue yak.
  13. G'day raiders, Just now this afternoon, instead of sitting on the beach with my kids, I had to come to the aid of 3 kayakers that were way out of their depth and knowledge. With the wind strong and the swell up, I noticed these yakkers leave the beach and head towards the ocean, in no time at all 2 had capsized and the 3rd was trying to help both. I watched for about 5 mins and could no longer see the one that was in the blue yak. The red one was getting sucked out towards a bommie. I was at least 10mins walk away along the rocks but had a feeling I had to help. So off I set and told the mrs if I signal her to call police rescue. I arrived to two young ladies almost pounded onto the stones. One managed to get up and I helped the other. I noticed neither had a life jacket and I asked if they were ok. That both replied "exhausted but ok". One was shaken up and went straight to the car and her friend told me she couldn't swim! OMG, are you kidding. My attention now turned to the third, he managed to make it half way back but was completely exhausted. I stayed within swimming distance until he was at the safety of the shore! I'm pretty sure they have learnt their lesson but to be honest, the difference between trial and tragedy is a very fine line. I dare say they probably would have made it even if I wasn't there but this incident just left me shaking my head! Know your limits! Take into account the conditions! And wear a freaking LIFE JACKET when traveling over 100m off the shoreline, it's the LAW! Rant over. Cheers scratchie!!!

  18. The bag limit is 10 per person and possession limit is 20. The only boat limit that applies is to gemfish which is 10 for the boat. Yes, the new rules are a bit confusing so here is the link with regards to bag, possession and boat limits............ http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recreational/regulations/sw/sw-bag-and-size/about-bag-and-size-limits Cheers scratchie!!!
