  1. I personally think from a starting perspective, I would use bait and fresh is best. Make sure you keep your bait in the strike zone and tie your knots properly. But most of all, enjoy what you are doing! We sometimes focus so hard on the end result, we fail to look up and take in our surroundings! Good luck! Cheers scratchie!!!
  2. Sounds like a productive day there John! You can put your submission in......... http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showforum=25 Cheers scratchie!!!
  3. My choice..... Shimano Sahara combo. 2500 reel and 2-4kg stick. Spool with 6-8lb power pro and your set!
  4. Will do Donna. As the weather warms up, I get the yak out and I promised her a session sometime.
  5. Hank, I hope you have a ball over there! The kings can be terrifying, just make sure you anchor yourself to the boat! Lol as for the snapper, at least the jackets should show up! Enjoy mate! Cheers scratchie!!!
  6. I agree. I enjoyed reading her posts too! And she has contributed much to this forum. I might give her a call and see how she's going!
  7. Unlucky on the fish mate! That is one scary looking photo! Cheers scratchie!!!
  8. Good link there Ryder! I think that puts that one to bed!
  9. Very sad. Jnr scratchie knows the people they were visiting. 15yo and too close to home! The fires were at medowie and they sent smoke all over the bay. I hope the rain help the firies!
  10. I was out this afternoon fishing with a fellow raider and my two eldest boys when a fierce storm came over and we retreated for cover. My wife was at boat harbour beach with the two little kids as the same storm pasted. They also retreated for cover and went home. When I arrived home I found out that a young 15yo boy died from a lightening strike the next beach around from where my wife and kids were. (One mile) I really feel for the family that has lost their child and it could be anyone. Just a reminder to take care and be mindful of the weather conditions while your out there raiders. Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. You are on fire! I just looked at cotm and you also caught a PB bream recently. I hope your homework is up to date young man. I think your sneaking in too much fishing! Lol..... Only joking, there's always time to cast a line!
  12. Nice fish there slink! Hearing a few reports come through, should be a good season! Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
  13. Well done Gianni. All those lessons with the experienced raiders are starting to pay off! My 4yo got one on the rocks today and nearly pulled him in! Would have been a great fight at that size! Congrats on the PB! Cheers scratchie!!!
  14. Great post FM. It had it all except for the king that you desired. You are so lucky that there are some honest people out there. Hope the flatty tasted good! Cheers scratchie!!!
  15. Good report mate. And good to see you have some luck with SP's. The photo of the puffer looks like he's laughing at you! Cheers scratchie!!!
  16. Not really. Occasionally you here of some unusual species turning up but not something you can target!
  17. Good on you mate! Hope you get your arms pulled out!
  18. Same drag setting, same rod, same fish but with an extra set of hands! I wasn't up there fishing for bream!
  19. Yes that is me! The second photo is me pumping and winding ON FULL LOCKED drag to a small, 5-6 kg fish. The first is my fish being upgraded (sharked) on the same drag setting! And yes it was still spooling off!
  20. Not sure what other people do Steve but I just cut the line. Last Saturday I stopped a young boy at dutchies beach from touching one! Could have been ugly!
  21. Sounds really interesting! I wonder if it will do away with having to tie a leader? Depending on price, there's a saving just there. More line on the spool too! Keep us posted! Cheers scratchie!!!
  22. Awesome fishing up there especially that time of year. Everything up there is supersized, even the garfish are the size of cricket bats! Although, I only ever fish up there from a boat. There are plenty of beaches to fish from and I'm sure there would be some good platforms to fish from. Ill check with the boys up here and get back to you! Cheers scratchie!!!
  23. Agh, back in home territory mate! A shame you didn't get to wet a line while you were up here, but thems the brakes! Always good to be fishing home grounds though. Well done Cheers scratchie!!!
  24. Got a pass mate! I'm a lucky man! Pm your number again as I lost it in my phone that's sitting at the bottom of broughton island.
