  1. Cheers noel, if you have an iPhone you can set a personal hotspot so he can use his wifi. Just a thought. I've lost my eldest fishing bud, to girls, scooters and surfing!
  2. Great read Larry! Nice thick girth and size but there was no smile to go with it! I'm sure you were smiling on the inside! Cheers scratchie!!!
  3. Yes mate, around the headland of there and little America bay.
  4. Sorry maddog, should have mention all jews were released. I even managed to remove an extra hook and leader on one of them. I'm very much a proactive fisho and generally when I chase Jew they aren't by-catch!
  5. Thanks joe.... He loves coming with me. Even gave up a mates party to do so!
  6. Thanks. My boat is a Haines hunter breeze! My favourite thing in the world.
  7. Great work there mate! A meter plus Jew is a prized scalp and not something you capture everyday! Where abouts were you fishing? Because the weather today on the central coast was horrendous! Cheers scratchie!!!
  8. G'day raiders, I decided to drag the boat down to the hawkesbury yesterday with jnr scratchie for a local tavern comp. With the impending weather predicted it was a difficult decision but I'm always keen, so I thought bugger it and that is where the challenge began! We were greeted to hostile winds and threats of lightning, rain, the works and it was difficult even launching the boat. As we ventured out, the usually calm river was a torrent of wind and swell and we were bobbing up and down like a brides nighty! We finally made it to our spot to hide from the wind as best possible but our idea to throw SP's was gone. We drifted hungry bay for a few hours and picked up a few flatty for our troubles, all around the 40cm mark. Jnr also managed to catch a squid and after some clever netting, he was put in the live tank with a plan in mind. It was becoming a bit mundane drifting the same area and we took our opportunity with a slight drop in the wind and we headed out between flint & steel to Juno. Great decision, first I'm on to a nice little soapie, then jnr and then double hook up! It was a great little sesh with 6 Jew in 40mins ranging from 40-55cm. It was then time to find a spot for the night and we'd done well to dodge the rain and wind and still managed a few fish, so we bunked down in JB out of the wind. I really like this spot and a chance to use this live squid with a chance of a resident Jew. Anyway we dropped anchor, burleyed up and was waiting for the tide to change bit this time there was no dodging the rain. It bucketed down, so out went the live squid and a livey I caught. And we retreated to the cabin. Right on the tide change, off goes the squid and I jump out pick up the rod, strike zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, a run of 100m in 5secs as the run stops and feel the weight, a shake of the head and goooooooooone! I was shattered and wound in the rod to find still most of my squid there but dead. Oh well, reset the hooks and out she goes. Nothing for about hour so I hit the bed and just as I fell to sleep zzzzzzzzzzz, I jump up, half asleep, wet, no shoes and try again. This time it comes up solid and the hook is set. I yell to get jnr up to give me a hand as it's pitch black and I didn't want to drop this one! So with the aid of my little mate I battle with this fish for 10mins and it wasn't until it finally surfaced and it was a bloody Noah's ark! So off to bed, cold wet and disappointed and nothing for the rest of the night. We awoke in the morning to similar conditions and managed a couple more flatty before heading home! It was probably some of the most challenging conditions I experienced in sometime but still managed a feed and most importantly made it home safe! Thanks for reading, Cheers scratchie!!!
  9. Hey noel, it's called fishing calendar! Think it costs 99c
  10. Sunday and Monday! Best fishing days of the month. Let me know how u go! Cheers scratchie!!!
  11. It is the possibility of predicting the best time to fish based on moon phases etc. But I must admit it does nothing for, location, bait/lure, tide, weather and anglers ability! Lol I just find it interesting that I do seem to catch decent fish when the efficiency is around 100%. There is obviously a science around fishing and moon phases, do anything that helps, I'm all for it! Cheers scratchie!!!
  12. Nice one aero! I'd take that as bi-catch any day! That's a great looking specimen. Your making me want to drag my boat down to the GR one day! Well done. Cheers scratchie!!!
  13. The almanac was right. Best fishing is when it's at 100%. Last night was only 11%.
  14. The almanac for today is only at 11%. The best period is between 9:09-11:09pm. Good luck! Cheers scratchie!!!
  15. Cheers mate, my head up river instead this time!
  16. Thansk longy, is that around the usual Juno, f & s area?
  17. Yeah true! Just waiting for my mate to ring me and see how his new boat is going!

  19. G'day raiders, I'm heading to the hawkesbo this weekend for a local tavern comp! Haven't fished it for a while but I do have quite a few spots that produce normally. Has anyone fished there this week that could give me an update? It would be muchly appreciated. Cheers scratchie!!!
  20. Just a thought, but if you are trying to chase kings off the rocks, why don't you try a balloon float? It's worked for me in the past! Cheers scratchie!!!
  21. IMO, if you are really new to SP's your target should be flathead. May I suggest using a 1/4 jig matched with a 3inch minnow, grub or swimming mullet. You want this to hit the bottom and jig up bouncing the sp on and off the bottom. Yes this is a heavier jig than most people will use but it will help you feel what the set up is doing and will keep you in the strike zone. Once you have caught a few, you will understand what you have done right and go from there! This is just my opinion, and I am relatively new to SP's but have already managed quite a few different fish including jewies! Flatty are the entry level to sp fishing! Good luck! Cheers scratchie!!!
  22. I was speaking to a mate sometime ago and he was trying to explain this technique of what he saw in South Africa and Zimbabwe. He said this bloke was catching monster sharks! Although he used rope and the same rope with a sliding gaff! Sounds like to much effort for me! Although the concept has merit and used in many places! Good luck! Cheers scratchie!!!
  23. Ok. Spot taken! Happy hunting! Cheers scratchie!!!
  24. G'day raiders! With the need to get a line wet and all the kids at school and wife at work, I'm out chasing Jew tomorrow between 9-2 in the bay (port Stephens). I have a spot for one person of anyone is interested, will cost you nothing and the weather and tides are great! Offer open to any raider! Cheers scratchie!!!
