  1. Guessing it's a snook (which I have been told is also referred to as barracuda or short-finned sea pike) too. Did it look like this?
  2. Well done Gatts, looks like you guys had a lot of fun.
  3. Good to hear everything turned out alright. In metro Sydney, the wind has been near gale force particularly around lunch time. It is predicted to drop by tonight and hopefully everyone can get some respite.
  4. Cheers Stan, Haha, in fact I also have that snoop colour but not the white one with the orange throat. Never used it but it looks like the perfect prawn imitation. Sounds great, we should definitely concoct a plan, maybe even fishingnoob too if he is free. Company is always good.
  5. Cheers for that, sounds more like 20 bucks rather than 2 cents. I have much less experience but I'll add to it and say keeping a diary is the most important. The end result is a set of ideal conditions which are also spot specific. The almanacs I think are based on the sun and moon rising times so there is some science behind it. However, it can't predict the location/presence of bait, wind, rain, barometer behaviour etc., and that is where it falls short.
  6. Well done Stan! Some nice pictures of respectable bream and the carp. It is probably pretty obvious what you would say (since the fish has that lure in its mouth =p) but what's your opinion and advice over using the shallow fat dog in mongrel colour for bream? I mean I haven't used it much so haven't caught anything on it but it looks like such a bream lolly everytime I look at it. Pete
  7. That is a stonker EP, well done.
  8. Thanks Tom, just glad I finally earned my stripe. Cheers Nibbles, as you probably are well aware from your own experiences, still a long way to go but as they say, the first step is the hardest. I would be stoked if I could even replicate one of your catches one day.
  9. Well done. Good to hear your kids getting involved.
  10. Thanks Ian, I am more than happy to share the experience.
  11. Cheers guys. Thanks for your comments, really appreciate it. Jeff, I just had to tell ya when I got it, I was too excited! Definitely good to reach out behind me and rip that monkey off my back haha. Haha Ben, my two pants versus your shorts. Never seen you wear anything but shorts, do you shower in them
  12. Haven't used them but from what I heard they slay jacks, barra, flatties and bream. Probably dynamite on bass and ep which love prawns. Imo, great for sport fishing but not a cost effective lure if you are wanting to catch a feed.
  13. What can I say? After hours and hours of trying (since the beginning of autumn) with other raiders (Kingfisher84, Matt17, SargeRX8) and also solo, at many spots all over the Parra river and Georges river systems, fishing countless tide changes in perfect weather all the way through to dreadful windy and rainy days, with and without jetski and boat traffic, and having lost about hundred jigs, I... (yes me!) -finally -lucked -out. I've caught a few before but only on bait. To give a bit of background, flicking for jew has been a favourite (and frustrating) pastime for all of us. I can best describe it as a love-hate relationship. In this time, I've seen Ben, Matt and Johnny land/lose a jew each and a few days ago, it was my turn. My most memorable and heart breaking moment occurred about a month ago. It began with the strike. I struck hard and came up tight to an immovable jew. It preceded to run. Heavy head shakes ensued followed by a second run and further headshakes which popped my leader. To say I was gutted was understatement. Johnny was at the scene this day. He grabbed me and shook me and said are you alright. Put his hand on my heart because he knew it was racing. Few days back, managed this soapie. Took a snap and back she went. A consolidation prize but I feel the pressure has been lifted. All that breaming has paid off. As they say, if you keep working at it and keep placing your bait and lure in the water, just one day, a fish might take it. Thanks to everyone mentioned in this thread and also to Scratchie. His jew on SP was enough to get me back out there after a break. So there you have it. Jewfish on soft plastic landbased daytime. Nothing crazy but it's good enough for me
  14. Good stuff, keep up the good work. You'll be landing stonkers in no time.
  15. Good luck in your search. Hope someone here can help you out in directing you toward a suitable position.
  16. Clifton Gardens, catch almost anything there.
  17. Solid fish, well done on opening your account for the season.
  18. Mate well done. First of many and good to see another getting bitten by the SP bug.
  19. Well done on some decent tailor and I enjoyed reading your report. A favourite pastime of tailor is tearing up baitfish. I don't know which prawn is better but I've caught jew on both.
  20. Haha wow! Now that is what I'd call putting your money where your mouth is!
  21. Well done, bang on as usual.
