  1. That's a top bream Ben! Quality bream for up there, that's as big as they get from what I've seen so far. Good to see you get rewarded for the early sesh. That should be be good enough encouragement to get Matty to come down more often lol
  2. Well done. Good on you for going solo and getting rewarded. You'll get a bigger one soon, although they all look like trophies to me.
  3. Good stuff fishgnoob, it is not an easy task to outdo Stan!
  4. My 2 cents. I can vouch for the 2-4kg Pflueger Trion 7'. Great allrounder - it is good enough to fish light plastics (from about 1/32oz up to 1/4oz) but at the same time is strong enough to yank fish out from tight spots. You will be able to put a lot of hurt on a fish (and then some if required). I haven't landed monster fish on it, but respectable bream (mid 30s), EP (high 30s) and blackies such as that 43cm one in COTM currently .Other 2-4kg rods in the same price bracket are also pretty good from what I hear but I haven't owned those. For the price ($95 on special) you can't go wrong - it's got Fuji seat, Fuji K guides (usually found on more expensive rods), more than enough runners than similar rods (8), split cork grip (that is if you prefer cork which I do and imo looks amazing). However, cheaper rods such as Catanas are also excellent (as said above by Ian) but there is a saying which goes something along the lines of, it is better to buy the best rod first and the second best reel. If you can stretch your budget, there are many choices of even better rods. Something like a Daiwa generation black itchy twitchy II retails for around $139. Whatever you get, moving up to graphite is gonna change your world!
  5. Top report, sounds like a great day out and a good tradition to have.
  6. Better luck next time. At least you guys went out and had a shot. Could have ended differently if a king or two had taken your lures.
  7. Good stuff ZZPedRo and welcome to best country in the world! Puffers are considered pests but it's not easy to hook them on a lure, so that's kind of skillful. Couple of respectable bream there. How did you find the fight? They go hard for their size
  8. Well done Stan! Couple of good ones there. I'm sure you'll get one on fly pretty soon mate.
  9. Haha what a cliffhanger! Ten points for effort.
  10. Awesome result. A day your father and grandmother will never forget.
  11. Sounds like a great sesh. Nothing better than upping your PB - congrats!
  12. Sounds like a heap of fun! Your mate certainly must be grinning from ear to ear. My first fish was a tiny bream and that made my whole week haha. Good on you for helping him achieve his goal.
  13. As they say, it ain't over till the fat lady sings. Good on you for persevering and showing the lads how it is done. That rainbow would have tasted fantastic no doubt.
  14. Good stuff. Like I said, I've always found them around even in winter. Obviously donuts do happen, but that will also occur during summer anyway. That's fishing.
  15. Welcome to the site. Good luck, hope someone takes you under their wing and shows you how to fish those beaches. Best advice I can give is to just get out there, find a gutter and get some fresh bait (squid, pillies, worms, prawns, nippers, crabs, pippies, chicken etc.) in the surf and you'll be in with a chance of pretty much anything - bream, flatties, whiting, dart, rays, jewies, salmon etc. About SP fishing, whereabouts in the harbour are you talking about? Just the harbour itself or the waterway such as the Parramatta river? Also what fish would you be targeting for that?

Quality comparison. http://vimeo.com/54860841 Everyone's got their own opinion but imo I prefer the Sony. Video and sound appears sharper. Sound is underrated but it's very important.
  17. That's a good solid fish, was this in the summer when they were feeding off surface? Would of had to back off the drag on her and let her run, definitely a very exciting prospect!
  18. Nice trev and salmon. Salmon seem to be everywhere atm, even far up river in the Georges. That sounder image is a sight to behold!
  19. Sounds like an exciting prospect. Might have to get myself a fly setup one of these days and give it real hot go. Will probably need to practice a heap since SargeRX8 who recently started using his flyrod definitely needed more practice from the way he was fishing the last time we did - he hooked a tree lol Carp on surface, that would be great.
  20. So can you describe what that humble pie tastes like? Us mere mortals have never had it before - the only pies here are Big Ben and Four'n'Twenty. p.s. Top flatty and fishing today Stephen! Good to put 1 up on the demigod that is stewy
  21. Mate, Jeff you are killing it on the SPs! I was hoping you would get bitten by the SP bug because it opens up a whole new world of fishing. Always good to have options whether bait or lures when out fishing. You got some good fish too. good to see a couple of 'fatheads' amongst it And just so you know, I've never caught a flounder on SP before so good stuff!
