  4. G'day guys, so finally not rostered onto a public holiday and heading down to a mates place near lake conjola / manyana / bendalong. My mates aren't fishos ([emoji35] ) so haven't been much help with tips for the area, was hoping there are some raiders with insight into the area. Have all land based options available, estuary beach rocks etc so any info would be great Thanks Witha
  5. Thanks mate, she definitely does. The certate is her favourite....at least she can't whinge when I buy high end gear now [emoji14]
  6. I'll definitely be egging her on to come! She says Thank you for the encouragement! Thanks Ed I'm sure your cookie monster will be smashing Mahi before she can walk! Any whiting is a good whiting mate! haha it was a work in progress for a while I got lucky that she's not squeemish at all. Thanks mate! Smartarse [emoji14] I figure she'll keep me on my toes and improving haha. Gotta stay ahead for the sake of the aforementioned ego [emoji14]Really is a great way to spend quality time together. Sunset on the water never gets old. Cheers man! Gotta try and get her hooked up to something massive and see how she goes haha
  7. Haha I know right! Might have to take your advice mate! don't get any better! And she puts up with my crap so think I should make a move before she wises up! Haha thanks Donna! I'll pass that on hopefully she will make an account so she will stop pestering me for always being on tapatalk [emoji14] She's a gem. Mate fiesty little buggers at times!Love big whiting on lures man they put up such a good fight. We've had quite a few larger models on big plastics too, they ain't shy!
  8. G'day raiders! Lately my after work bream sessions have had some company in the form of my wonderful girlfriend. And I've got a but if a dilemma...can't decide whether to buy her a ring or a rod! After a couple of years of tolerating my fishing and joining me for the sake of learning what I love, she's now killing it on the plastics and bugging ME to go out for a session! We started last week with a casual after work mission to the Parra and she quickly managed two small flatties! (Breathe a sigh of relief there, she cracks it pretty quick if there's no action) She's getting much better on finessing light lures and I knew she'd grab a bream soon, which she surely did and had her first taste of spirited little bream fighting. After a rough few days at work, we headed to another bay on the parra for an evening session, I'd bought her some gulp grubs knowing she'd get more bites on them to keep her interested, I shouldn't have bothered! While I was rigging up she flicked out the zman grub left on her outfit and two flicks later the little sustain was zinging away! I took a step back rather than coddling her and instructed from a distance, and she fought and landed a very healthy 30 cm model! [emoji2] Over the next few days we had a couple of sessions and she's added quite a few species to her plastics list including whiting and tailor and more respectable bream. Basically she was schooling me (for my ego I'm going to say it's because I spend my time rigging and unsnagging for her) But needed a few solo sessions with some mates to get my groove back. The parra has been kind to me lately with some fat healthy models coming in to 37 on surface, hbs and plastics. This one was a great test of my new ian miller t curve muscling him out of some pontoons. A few more with a pb on surface and a mate with a bloody honker of a whiting at 41cm Also had some weird catches lately as I attempt to land any form of pelagic (please fishraider help me!) Including a flounder on a halco twisty and bream on 5 inch jerkshads. Add about a million flatties to the list and the persistence wears thin but I'll keep on plugging. Thanks for reading guys hope it entertained some of you. Now I have to suss out a combo for her. ..apparently my "hand me downs" aren't good enough. I gave her a bloody nitro rod and a sustain....where do I go from there haha. Cheers Witha
  9. Awesome work mate, productive use of the post uni hours! Cracker crab there too. Fast burn retrieve for the tailor and Sambo?
  10. I've been in the same boat at times Adam and it's definitely a case of change species / spots / goals / expectations. I've got a good groove with breaming at the moment but they've lost their excitement to some extent. So lately I've been enjoying taking the gf out and getting her stuck into it. I'm excited vicariously through her about new species and pbs and learning all over again. The other part is challenging yourself. I'm starting to try chasing pelagic and get back onto the jewie horse. But it's meaning alot of doughnuts and spot exploring. Its hard limited to public x port etc, but just gimme a call man I'm 5 mins away and always fishing haha
  11. Loving the banter and that's a cracker fish ed well done. Keep it up lads
  12. Awesome report mate and what a peaceful spot! +1 on fishing being my escape. Nothing like a quiet night on the water to chill you out. Keep it up mate
  13. Nice one mate, getting the results as usual, go dry off haha
  14. Hi mate, have a lighter nitro (the ultralight spin) and it's s great rod, nitro under rate their power and their tapers are interesting. Firm and quite smooth in transition buy very ballsy. Theyre slightly on the heavy side so I'd try and chuck the 2500 on the rod before you buy as the ci4 reels are quite light. The 4000 I'd say would be fine though. I'm in the same boat as pete with the line class, although the nitro are unbreakable if you want to get the full performance out of 20 lb up the rod class.
  15. So far I've had a 40 on a lava wriggler and a 20 on a 3b fatdog hb, they fight dirty! Too bad I suck at actually getting em on weed Ryder hahq
  16. Awesome mate blackies on hb definitely not common! Good to see a pain free session hopefully they can continue!
  17. Nice one mate, you've got a clan of apprentice scratchies up there! Beast Sambo for the young fella and some tasty lookin squid! You and your walking distance rock ledge keep making me jealous!
  18. +1 with ojay excellent chat, Wish I'd seen it earlier [emoji14]
  19. It's been great seeing a mix of people offering a mix of opportunities, flicked Ed a message and took me out at the drop of a hat, regardless of my experience or fishing style. Only hope it continues guys don't be a stranger as a general rule fishos are a pretty friendly bunch
  20. Berkeley scum dogs for surface walkers. Ecogear px 45 too
  21. Hey mate for the deeps I've been cleaning up on 3b fat dogs in the brown/ purple accented colour. They dive to 2.5 or more and are really versatile. Had a cracker session on em few months back got 8 lol
  22. A favourite sushi fish, but always be wary as stated above! Definitely pop em out live instead, get an upgrade
  23. Thanks mate, let me know how you go at Tempe! Haha was a good day mate. Cheers gotta love slowly slowly heading towards 40cm! Thanks man, yeah was a fat and healthy fish. All the bream seem to be in good nick lately!Yup got him on a little prawn / shad diver in a brown purple mix. Literally thought I'd snagged on the step as it took it actually at my feet! Needa catch up for a session mate. Might come somewhere I can actually eat things for once haha
  24. G'day raiders! So I've been plugging away at the cooks for quite a while now land based and figured it was time to take the yak out and get a different angle on some bream and possible jew spots I've been listing over. Got a couple of mates together and launched near the Princes highway bridge at about 5am, despite being such a brutally polluted waterway it sure is stunning at sunrise! Flicked bigger plastics around at the bridges and holes looking for something silver but no love at the high tide mark and the start of the runout, so we decided to swap to bream kit and work our way from Tempe down. The other blokes made the gear switch first and a couple of flatties came on board, bit of friendly ribbing about my doughnut status had me casually throw a zman grub down the pylon next to where we were rafted up and pull out a small bream straight away, give the boys the bird and paddle off Paddled off further down river working the rock wall and came up with another small fish, always fun on 4lb leader though The silly string would soon be my undoing though, as I flicked my lure at a patch of Shadows it was immediately pummeled by a very very good fish, which I couldn't turn and the drag never stopped zinging until he rubbed me off on the oysters! Little bugger made a b line for them, knew exactly where to go [emoji35] Continued on slightly gutted and managed another couple of decent fish, my mates pulling another half dozen good bream and and little trev that went really hard as they do. The sun was beating down by that stage and we headed back to the ramp against wind and tide for a bloody good arm workout. ..with my mate in his new hobie laughing the whole time. [emoji36] All in all a really good session despite the lack of jew. Going to have to put a lot more time Into working out the area as its very different trying to work an area compared to land based. Couple of pics and another cracker of a bream that went 37 I picked up yesterday arvo on a little hard body at rozelle. Been a good week can't wait to get out again even if I have to decontaminate myself and my gear after the nasty water haha. Thanks for reading Witha
  25. Knew you wouldn't be able to resist chasing those bust ups mate [emoji14]
