  1. That's awesome mate. Great effort and very cool to see them taken on the artificial. Love the range of colours there. Might have to give the fly a go haha
  2. Between the freams and the sol2 I'd go the freams, other option would be a stradic ci4 from the shimano stable, 2500 size is versatile. Gen blacks are solid rods, if it's a light bream setup I'd stick to the itchy twitchy or drunk monkey. Another awesome option is a pflueger patriarch XTR. I picked up the 1-3kg for about 160 awesome rod.
  3. Nice one mate, textbook. Some good looking specimens there!
  4. Thanks for all the kind words guys! Damn I just wanna get out again haha
  5. Cheers man! Beers were in hand not pan boss! Thanks mate! In the parra mate, from what I've heard the schools are running up and down the length of it atm Thanks mate, the fight was definitely the best I've had! Tense moments haha Cheers bro, you'll land yours soon mate you've had more luck hooking the buggers than me haha Cheers Stew so I've heard, I'll be paying it a return visit for sure! Thanks mate, the urge to just rip it in took some suppressing! Was a great feed mate, and knowing I'd caught it and it was fresh as can get is always a bonus Haha sorry mate, have to team up for a flick soon! Definitely a reel tester, in love with my certate! Thanks man! Yeah some gnarly structure, got lucky! thanks mate won't be forgetting it in a hurry! Better fighters than jew by far but after my first jew the itch just needs scratching. Soon!
  6. G'day raiders! With night shift messing up my schedule again, the only remedy has been using my daylight hours to fish Roused myself in time for the low tide change yesterday and loaded up the car with a few rods, my never ending quest for jew has reached addiction levels again and I figured I'd throw big plastics around in hope. Found a new spot to try with a nice outcrop to cast off and began throwing round a 100mm squidgy fish in silver fox. trying a more subtle retrieve lately as opposed to huge rips I began lifting and twitching the plastic off the bottom. About half and dozen casts in I was getting into the rhythm and enjoying a lovely winters day (read: day dreaming in muscle memory mode) when I had a distinctive thump on the line. Adrenaline pumps and I strike up hard. Feeling barely any weight I was thinking a flatty had jumped on, as it happened the fish had been swimming towards me and when it decided to turn and run I finally felt my black label load up properly and had the certate singing as pe1 braid left the reel at an ear soothing pace. After what I'd judge to be a 30 or so Metre sustained run, the fish slowed and I managed to gain some line back, another few bursts and I managed to get colour as it swam into the shallows next to my outcrop. Expecting to see silver I was elated when I saw that big green back! (I'll admit I screamed "kingy"... for all my imaginary friends to hear...). I then realized I'd been a bit foolish. expecting a jew I'd assumed it spent after a few runs, but this thing jetted off to the rock platform at my feet, with just enough angle to wrap my line around something solid. That terrible heartbreaking sound of line grabbing and rubbing on structure followed. I immediately free spooled the reel and waited it out. The fish took off but was still wrapped so I repeated the process for about 3 minutes. Finally I saw the line float free and race off, snapping the bail arm in place the drag starts singing again. Another few minutes and I had it spent at my feet...with no net...idiot. Resigned myself to getting wet and went in to the knees to trace it and get my lip grips in. Whooping triumphantly I got the measure out and it went 67!! Unfortunately for this kingy I have a running wager with my housemate that if I can ever get something edible he will cook it and provide the beers to accompany. Tell you what it was the best feed of fish I've had in a long while and he fed the four of us no trouble. Thanks for reading guys, bit of a long write up for one fish but it was a moment I won't forget. And it's occupying some time on a long night shift [emoji14] Some specs and piccies to end: Rod: Daiwa Black Label 5-12lb Reel: Daiwa Certate 2510R-PE Braid: Pe1 ygk super jigman (20lb roughly ) 14lb fc rock leader
  7. Never could Crack Where's the Gold....and more chilli still gives me grief [emoji14]
  8. Always been a gamer, started off with spending early school holidays with my dad at work, he was in IT and rigged me up a crappy pc with quake and doom on it, pretty much downhill from there haha. Played counterstrike and war craft 3 heavily, heavily into diablo 2 then fell down the world of war craft rabbit hole. Many fun memories of playing with mates, and good mates made. Always seem to go back for a bit whenever a new expansion comes out. Got into battlefield pretty strong too, and Diablo 3 was my poison for a while as well. Recently got an Xbox one with the mrs and been having a ball going through the Master Chief edition, also with many memories of playing with mates. These days....fishing has taken over my free time haha.
  9. Amen man. So much easier to get lures back in the yak! And definitely getting right in there scores the fish! I'd lose a few plastics for 10x the hits
  10. Very nice man! Starting to enjoy the Georges, looks like it's producing well this winter! Keep it up. Shoot me a message if you're keen for some company on the yak
  11. Few of my rods have finicky guides, you might remember me losing a few lures when we went yakking due to a uni getting caught. So learnt to tie the fg and I can do it pretty darn quick now. Never any guide issues, and you rarely lose leader on a snag bust off which is a great asset. I still tie double unis if I'm in a mad rush on the kayak but a slim beauty is almost as easy to tie man. Interesting about the wrapping, might have to see how it goes
  12. Cheering at that price mate keen to see some results when you get it!
  13. Ayyy nice man! Planned and executed. Well done! They put up a good fight too I'm sure we will see more!
  14. Mate have had a couple of the Starlos over the years and currently use a 5-10kg 9.footer version for shore based spinning, for an all rounder I'd go for the 7 foot 4-8, will give you more flexibility whilst still having the grunt. If you can stretch to a 4000 symetre with that you'd have a pretty gun combo. Symetre is where shimano higher end design concepts enter their range, Sedona are sturdy as but symetre would be worth the extra
  15. Thanks mate, know why you love your perch! Thanks mate. Yeah he's still beaming! If only every session went so well. Now to get my yak jew haha Cheers man Thanks Seamus! Cheers Adam, new species always excites Haha do it man! Gotta be endless spots up your way! And thanks mate was a stunner day Thanks! Was great fun
  16. G'day Raiders! With a decent spell of weather managed to get the kayak out onto the Georges for a cracker sesh on Sunday with a couple of mates. Launched near Lugarno at about 10 and paddled our way around testing my new Garmin Echo 300C sounder which has a few hiccups with the silicone moulding but works a treat regardless. Started off flicking plastics for bream in tight structure and man if I landed 5 fish I got smoked by the same amount! There were plenty of bruisers hiding in gnarly rock ledges ready to wreck my 6lb leader. Sure wakes you up in the morning though! New sunline 8 carrier braid held well though. Not as nice as the YGK i had on before but still cuts the mustard. Approaching high tide at about 1:30 started throwing bigger paddle tails around hoping for a wandering Jew, but to no avail on my part. Couldn't track down decent structure and drift it properly so that's a technique to work on. Headed to the other side of the river to work some more structure for bream, and after pulling a 30cm from a deep patch close to shore I hook into what feels like the fish of the day and eventually up pops my first EP! Have been hoping to come accross these fiesty buggers at some point and it looks like we found a school . After the first which is my now PB at 35cm got another at about the same size and my mate grabbed his first as well at about 25-30. Great fun on the bream gear and had me under and around the yak a few times before boating them! Just as we were going to drift on and check some old oyster leases my mate strikes up hard into what we think is a solid EP, until the weight just won't budge and starts taking line! To cut a 20 minute fight in current and drifting near large obstacles short....what we had called for a metre plus jew ended up being a 72 cm schoolie hooked in the gill plate making it feel like a mother. However...This was my mates first jew and he had been chasing them on plastics for 6 months waiting for his first, so we were all cheering. Not bad on 6lb Headed over to the leases for a few nice 30s bream and paddled back up current for a few ks to the launch at sunset. The arms were burning but the company was good. Some pics to cap it off. Hope you enjoyed thanks for reading. Witha

  22. Awesome mate! Fished the area growing up a fair bit it's a great part of the world! Textbook jewies mate right conditions right place, right result! Love Cathai and Laurie ton need to get back up there more
  23. Reel sounds good for the bucks, nice all rounder with that setup. It'll get you on the water again that's for sure Okumas lifetime warranty is pretty solid, so for beach use that's a good thing any issues or damage from the harsh environment and they will probably swap it out, other bang for buck reels are the good old shimano sienna, tough as nails and easy to service your self, saves a few dollars in those cash strapped times. Sorry to hear about your gear mate good luck!
  24. Awesome work guys, results yet again! Good to see some big fellas in there
