  1. Sorry mate, this is the real spot X & no bugger is gonna steal these marks..................................I simply couldn't handle having an overcrowded ramp & more fools like me shuting down the fish!
  2. If it was caught on a jig then wouldn't it be a PRAWN STAR?
  3. Hey Roberta, I've been a BIG fan of those guys for awhile now. I reckon the two best (Well, for me anyway as I love the underwater footage & fantastic action shots) is the Waganella Banks DVD & the Giant Tune one. The Tuna one has some awesome footage of nutter Matt in the water with missiles twice his size shooting out of nowhere grabing fish from him & the Wanganella Banks has what I think is the best display of masses of Marlin all lit up behind the boat. They have a 5 (Dunno what that is, quintuple?) hookup at one stage and also in the bonus footage there is a simply amazing peice with a marlin that gets completley stripped to the bone by a giant squid & I mean COMPLETLEY stripped. His stunt fishing stuff is hilarious too.
  4. After reading all these posts I had enough, I couldn't wait any longer & decided to head out & see what I could hook. As you'll see I have a fantastic day on the water, conditions were beautiful, the sky was slightly overcast but wind was down, it looked like I was going to be in for one great day. Arriving at the ramp I couldn't believe I had it all to myself, not another sole around. Launching was made easy & I was soon motoring along to the big blue yonder. To my surprise the water did look a little green but once the sounder started giving some great shows of bait I thought I'd give it a try anyway. Gamefishing solo was never going to be an easy task but thankfully my rig is well setup for this kind of work so I ran a single 50W out the back and it wasn't long before I heard the sound of that big shinny reel singing that magical song. I was onto a reasonable juvenile stick face! He gave some excellent displays. He made me work hard for the prize but eventually I tagged him & watched in awe as the magnificent fish swam off to fight another day. I was stoked. One Stickface solo was enough for me & I thought it was time to try for some sharks. I also wanted to try out my new Game reel. Setting the burley trail I sat back & enjoyed the day & a well earned rest, but it wasn't long before I saw some fins out the back. Sure enough a nice Hammerhead showed himself & ripped line like there was no tomorrow. Eventually with brute force I manhandled him in close to a shoreline where I could beach him easily & take a few happy snaps before releasing him. Well and truly satiated with offshore beasts I made the call to head in close & see what other species I could get into, I also swung by and picked up my youngest for a quick bash before Sponge Bob Square Pants started. It wasn't long before this now pro angler had me in awe of his technique & ability to finesse a fish from the snags & cover. We were amazed to find this thing so far from its natural habitat but after what was a tremendous fight I assisted with the net & we had this huge Bucket Mouthed Barra landed. Naturally this big beast was released, his mother was calling for lunch! Dropping off the young 'un I remembered the Sawtailed Surgeon fish post & thought they sounded like a good laugh. Being new to these fish I opted for some heavier tackle after reading how well the fight, I certainly didn't expect them to be ticklish though! I couldn't really think the day could get any better so I headed in, very proud to display the captures to all & sundry back inside the heads. I got quite a few looks & I'm sure I was the only one showing flags today. I made a quick pass to my crab nets & scored these two beaut spanner crabs. Getting back to the ramp I had loaded the rig onto its trailer when I heard some commotion from a few anglers further down on the rocks, there were some monster drummer being hauled in so of course I couldn't resist a chance to get into some off the stones. And so ended a day I won't soon forget, what a mixed bag & what a great day out. I can't wait to do it again soon. Cheers & tight lines everyone. Boofhead
  5. Well, that's pretty much all that needs to be said about you guys. Those photos have sent 10000 heart rates up and ensured the nations appetite for fishing (Atleast for all us Raiders) stays eternally PUMPED TO GO FISHING! ......smashing little pink piggy bank ..........
  6. I use it on the water via iPhone, comes up reasonably quick compared to some & its easier to read than most at a glance. Although my last escape was with Byron, ya don't need anything else when you have the human tide / weather bureau onboard.
  7. Ahhhhh, thank you Roberta. I found this site awhile ago & lost it. Yippppppppeeeeee!
  8. Does Narabeen hold the fresh long or will it flush 9 inches of rain pretty quick?
  9. Nice job Pete. 'Scuse my ignorance but how much rain did you get there?
  10. Hey Ben What sort of reel do you have or are you gonna buy one with the new rod? Sorry if I offend you here but I'm gonna assume your pretty new to all this (Reading your recent posts) There are basically two types of reel / rod setup (Two main ones, there are others but it will just add to the confusion) One is an eggbeater, spinning reel, this is the traditional type you will know pretty well. Then there is the baitcaster type. This reel sits on top of the rod so when you hold it in your hand the reel is above the rod. These types of reels cannot be fitted to a standard spin rod & vise versa because the seats on the rod (Bit where reel attaches) are suited to only that type of reel. Here's a vid that explains the baitcaster pretty well.Check your PM's I've sent you a bit more detail. Others might have different opinions but from your location & recent posts I reackon you'd be better off sticking with spin gear for now & trying to find a nice balanced outfit that will be more versitle for you in both fresh & salt. Say a light snapper outfit or similar. Just my opinion.
  11. Nice effort guys, nothing beats bringing those fish boatside when its your boat.
  12. Balmoral for yakkas & sometimes slimeys. Just look for all the boats near the little bit of rocky outcrop / head, between the two beach areas. Better still, try some soft plastics.

What he said In line is the way to go.
  18. Great pics & report Dale. Sounds like you got some nice fish over the days. Are we gonna see the underwater pics?
  19. No, its not Photoshop, its a real fish! Called Pacu & also a Sheepshead are both similar looking fish. http://blogs.nationa...like-teeth.html
  20. Ah the good 'ol Redfin. Nice one Ben. I've never fished Ben Chifley, my memory of the place was a school sailing trip where I lost my first watch I ever owned after only 3 days of receiving it, I was shattered.
  21. Gotta love a hot bite. Nice one Robbie What was the water like? Was it clear?
  22. Great result. Well done on the experimenting with new spots too its obviously paying dividends.

    Ugly Fish

Very strange, those guys normally take this lure...............................
  24. Found these from Lord Howe Island & last one from New Zealand Enjoy
  25. I've never used this method on a fishing reel but...... Hold correct sized screwdriver into screw, turn the lot upside down & tap the end of the screw driver onto a bench. I would say just hit the screwdriver with a hammer but if you are holding it in your hand there will probably be too much give in your hand for the blow to be effective & if you place reel on bench & hit screwdriver with a hammer you might damage the reel. The impact of a good blow to the screw driver (Provided its well located in the screw) may loosen things up.
