  1. G'day mate, yes I saw you there eyeing off possible spinning spots, Saturday morning was the better of the 2 days, I had 10 bonnies and a small king landed and returned by 7:30am had to go then for a morning work session. Sunday wasn't too bad a few less in the schools, only got 5. That lure you are talking about is Mack Bait lure, they do work well but not as good as a plastic twitched close to the ledge. Anyway mate good to see you caught a few.. P.S. Branch carnival on the beach also pushed the crowds up on the weekend.. P.P.S you should see it when it is crowded.. hahaha...
  2. That is a Blind Shark, night feeders mainly... grow to about a meter....

  10. Hypnos monopterygium Shaw & Nodder 1795 numbfish, electric ray, coffin ray, numb ray family Torpedinidae - electric rays The numbfish has a large round body lobe and a smaller round pelvic lobe which carries 2 dorsal fins and a very short tail. It has small eyes which are raised when active. The body is thick and blubbery. Their appearance in the Bay and at Julian Rocks is seasonal, commonly in March. They are usually seen singly. This animal is well known for its power to shock. It has a large electric organ behind the spiracles which can generate 200v. This can both stun prey and deter predators. The numbfish's diet consists of crabs worms and small fish. There are also reports of numbfish attempting to eat relatively large prey, including rats and penguins, whole. One came to a bad end on Main Beach when it took on a porcupinefish. They may also be scavengers. Little is known about their breeding habits. Females are larger than males, pups are about 10cms long. They seem to have poor vision and have been observed slamming into rocks and bouncing off. Distribution = northern Australia Max size = 60cm
  11. Not really mate, it was only a small fish about 25cm's, I reckon a pig would pull these things backwards..
  12. I'm not 100% sure but I think it's a Yamashita pearl glow in a 2.5 size, when you hit them with an LED light they really light up..
  13. Great Jewie mate, top catch for you, Congrats..
  14. This is only a guess but it looks a bit like a Javelin Fish, I'm probably wrong though as Javelins are not usually down this far.. I rotated your fish.. Barred Javelin
  15. G'day Raiders, had a nice arvo fishing after the southerly died down a tad. Fished mainly for blackies and scored a few as well as a bait stealing surgeon. Thought something was up cause I had way too many downs and stolen baits. I ended up hooking one of the little buggers, a very pretty fish, deep purple/blue colour. So enough for the weed eaters time for something different, try for a squid I thought. Many casts later I finally found the inkers, I ended up with only four and one tenticle (hah). I was there with another Raider Anthony (Anth 1) he also got a couple of squid only to be washed away by a wave. I gave him my 2 bigger ones as he was set on eating his ones tonight. Anyway that was my arvo, released all but 2 of the blackies, they went to Joe from Copa as well as the 2 tiny squid, he will use them for jewie baits.. Everyone was happy, enjoy the few pics of today.. Little Sawtail Surgeon (weed stealer) Avoca wash You know the rest...

  21. I am certainly no expert on this but I think that most placcies work, it seems to me that the change of tide, a bit of structure and the way you jiggle it is most important. I too like the Z-man swimmerz..Good luck..
