  1. Thanks Krispy Out of curiosity has anyone fished the artificial reefs in yarra bay ? Any good ?
  2. Thanks Paikea Flounder was fried on Monday night with a side and salad and chips with flathead fillets ...... 10/10 I find the bigger the flounder the better eating (obviously)
  3. Thanks to all again for the well wishes they truly are a life changing miracle The water quality in the bay was actually different depending on where you were, I found dolls pt very dirty and wooloware relatively clean. I kept a eye out all day for tailor bust ups but couldn't find any, maybe it's a little early in the season?
  4. Gday Raiders So its been a while, had a baby girl on the 24th April and have been settling in since, things are going great and thanks for all the well wishes everyone. Today I fished Botany with dad, arrived at foreshore 7:00 and were on the water at 730, took a while longer at the ramp because there was two ladies launching their boat and going fishing (thumbs up !) but they were strugglng to get the boat off the trailer for 10 minutes, when they started cursing I thought that was the cue to offer some assistance, had them on their way 5 minutes later. Ironically when I headed back to the ramp to head home I bumped into them struggling to get the boat back on the trailer but they already had 2 or 3 blokes helping. I have to take my hat off to them for trying, not many ladies would commit to fishing in that way !! Anyway, first stop was molinx point, fished there for 1.5 hrs for an undersize flatty and some pinkies. Then moved onto the end of the runway and burleyed hard, picked up one legal trevally there. By this stage things were looking pretty down so we needed to have change of game plan, we headed over to the tugs and picked up some yakkas with the hope of stopping under captn cook bridge for a possible jew. We gave that a try for a while also for zeros. So In a last ditch effort we stopped at wooloware bay to drift some plastics and baits. I don't drift often so I didn't have high hopes. anyway we struck gold at Wooloware, picked up five legal flatties ranging from just legal up to 63cm, one salmon and a PB Flounder ! ALL fish caught on butterflied yakkas. one of the flatties spat his stomach contents at me and I got hit on the forehead by a baby whiting, check out the size of this little guy haha Weather was great, water temp in the bay was 16.8degrees in the morning which was surprisingly cold. was just glad to get out and even happier to come home with a feed. thanks for reading,
  5. So after staying home for 6 weeks, baby and mum are doing well and I've been granted the green light for a fish tomorrow ! Frankly, at this stage il be able to satisfy my fishing cravings just launching the boat at the ramp and being on the water. But catching some fish would preferable Launching from foreshore ramp Botany at 7am and fishing to 2 hours past the high tide. So any tips for Botany Bay tomorrow what's been on the chew ? Hoping the rain hasn't turned the fish off
  6. Great result mate you've really aced your plastics technique getting so many species on the same lure Well done mate some nice fish
  7. If it not much holds on it I can't help but wonder why anyone would keep it under lock and key
  8. So did you catch any fish mate it's not clear in your report
  9. Wow that's some really good water pushing in close Just mouth watering wondering what's swimming in that warm water Wonder if a late season trip out to botany wife FaD is worth the time/petrol
  10. Gee mate that's some tough luck there The right baits and In the right spot but no touches !!! Better luck next time, I'm sure ul get some next time
  11. Also, DPI recommend that carp be dispatched on capture, what did you do with them out of curiousity?
  12. Mate I'm not a freshwater fisho but those carp look massive, well done, your persistence paid off.
  13. Thank you all for your kind words support and advice I will post up some pictures of bubba when she arrives
  14. Oh no mr whale He greets me every time I come up your part of town. Hope they put it back up And your snapper spot is a real picture of how angry the ocean is right now
  15. Thanks for the feedback gents, sounds like there is hope That's some very wise feedback and I thank you all for your advice and kind words. I guess it really comes down to being flexible and making sure I meet the obligations as dad but also make time for myself. I do most of my fishing between 5am and 12pm and I'm home most of the time before 1pm so I think that will work in my favour and make things a little eAsier. I will of course still be on FR reading reports in the next weeks ( whilst simultaneously drooling at the mouth haha) Good luck to all
  16. G'day Raiders I went out this Saturday for what was probably my last fishing session in a month, or two, or more ? Baby is due any day this week and I'm on standby until further notice. I'm expecting that I won't be able to get back on the water until late May and maybe even June So the questions are - do I have any hope of fishing in the next 6 months or am being too optimistic I'm going to be a first time dad so I have no clue - what fish are best to target that time of year and, - what water systems produce best ( many opinions of course) One thing I've really wanted to do is practise my squiding technique because I can't catch squid to save my life haha. Perhaps an experienced squid fisho would be kind enough to take me out and show me the ropes, if that time of year is good for it. Thanks
  17. It says watsons bay sydney game fishing club - sponsor by sylvania marina
  18. Better luck next time jim As they say, better to be on the water than at work
  19. I'm hoping to stay inside the bay and target bread and butter species early Saturday. I have a baby coming soon so I have to start saving money and can't afford the petrol for offshore and trolling.l Tho, I've realised them mac tuna I caught last month are awesome reusable baits. Almost everything and anything eats them
  20. I tried the FAD yesterday for zero too. I won't be going back until next year. Though, speaking with a couple of fishos not many had luck yesterday, possibly all the rain ? Better luck next time
  21. Good luck mate ! Sounds like a tough species for me haha wouldn't know where or how to start
  22. G'day Raiders I've stuck to a fairly regular routine this summer, troll outside , come back and troll the cliffs, then if still unsuccessful stop for some bread and butter fish. With this weekends weather looking strange, I'm thinking of doing an afternoon fish for different species Any recommendations ? I have an acceptable range of rods/reels for bream to kings
  23. That's a great size tailor mate and gee look at them teeth. The stuff of nightmares, I once had a tailor rip my thumb straight open while trying to get the hook out of his mouth. You don't realise how nasty those teeth are until you see them at that size !
