  1. I spent 15 minutes lookin for it today and didn't realise it had been replaced hahaha "slaps forehead" Obviously- I don't know what happened to it !
  2. I certainly will have a crack, hopefully the salmon schools are around at least they will be a bit of fun.
  3. If your doing the drive to Byron from sydney then u can't drive past south west rocks without having a go, January is good offshore season so it might be worth paying to have a day on a charter !
  4. Hi raiders I haven't been out in a while, want to try some of the reefs tomorrow around sydney harbour Any recommendations ? To be honest after a terrible week at work il be glad to just be on the water and soak up some oceanic R&R so I'm not too bothered with a donut but some dinner would be nice too !!
  5. Well done mate that's a good feed Did you send the squid back out live ?
  6. Great catch mate the trusty Christmas tree strikes again
  7. Thanks for the update I have some questions which weren't really clear from the video 1. I assume only those boaters using a radio are required to complete the course ( ie open waters) 2. Is there a transitional period? Does this take effect immediately ? Example if I want to visit the peak this weekend would I need to complete this course before heading out
  8. Indeed that is definately the cAse with kings which you seem to tangle with on most trips, perhaps the user name change to "kingywhisperer" =DE
  9. Ps- forgot to say I spent about 20-30 mins at each spot before moving .
  10. G'day Raiders I've been pondering a question lately as I've spent more time thinking about fishing than actually doing any fishing ( work + family commitments) Last time I went fishing I ended up getting rather desperate and frustrated at my lack of success and I moved around a fair bit. I ended the day with a donut. Later, I pondered about wether I moved about prematurely before my burley could take effect. So I'm looking for some advice on " how long before it's time to move" and any factors one would consider in this formula. does the depth your fishing have any impact on how long your burley takes to kick in ? Also iv realised that sometimes the direction of the boat doesn't necessarily cooperate with the direction of the water movement deeper . Ie casting to the rear you end up with baits infront of the boat, is there any way to overcome this ? Thanks for reading
  11. Well done Krispy. You always manage a feed !
  12. I know it's none of my business but I have 2 comments. 1. Congrats on the Jew and for avoiding a donut 2. Suspending the fish from the mouth like that can't be good for catch and release.
  13. Sounds like u had a better day than most over the weekend jim , at least u got some fish to the boat ! I spent 6 hrs on Saturday for one lonely trev! I've had similar experience with the salmon schools and I have suspicions that most of the time my lure has foul hooked a fish on the retentive hence why so many "spat hooks"
  14. Well done mate that is a really great result for a solo session ! Looks like Uve left most of us for dead
  15. Great feed yowie I think most people would not say that was a "quiet" session haha
  16. I just did the survey couldn't find anything personal that would enable anyone anywhere to identify you as an individual
  17. Ps- great bag of fish there sounds like a successful weekend Cheers
  18. I have a curious and newbb question but before asking would like to premise this question with the following statement. I have never fished for, or known anyone who has fished for blackfish or luderick. Question- what makes blackfishing so enjoyable compared to your regular lure/bait type fishing for flathead/bream/trevally etc I've personally never been interested but have come to realise that close to 40% of the posts on this forum are fishing blacks with weed, so there must be something special there? I just haven't experienced it ?
  19. Vendee u have the wrong idea !!! UPS (uninterruptible power supply)
  20. Can't believe the government doesn't have UPS installed at such important facilities
  21. Any official publication we can be pointed towards or is this word of mouth ?
  22. Finin that's a very informative post thank you
  23. G'day Raiders After going a month without a fish me and dad decided it had been too long, so we prepped the boat and left home around 7am, decided to try sydney hRbour for a change, anyway, drove all the way to rose bay only to find the roads closed for city to surf **slap forehead multiple times** so did a turn and within 25 mins we were at foreshore rd ramp Tried all the usual spots for zeros, picked up a lonely bream at the drums, headed out to the heads and it was very sloppy despite what appeared to be a reasonable forecast. Turned back to find a school of salmon busting up on the surface, they were swimming shoulder to shoulder with their mouths open, don't know what they were eating?? Anyway picked up 2 salmon and many spat hooks, there were some real stonkers that just couldn't be stopped on my 6lb line. Anyway around 245 I noted police and helicopters all over the place, didn't know what was going on but have just read that a woman drowned after being swept off bare island. Really heartbreaking and just goes further to prove how careful everyone should be around the ocean wether In a boat, rock fishing , or in today's instance jst taking photos. A hard days work for 3 fish and a sad end.
  24. G'day raiders I haven't been out in a while as work has been on fire for the last month. Thinking of heading out tomorrow but trying to decide with to go botany or syd harbour. Last time I fished botany it was very quiet, but I haven't seen many reports from syd harbour to tell me that it's been any better there. Any recommendations. ? Thanks
  25. Great result mate that is an awesome feed If u don't mind me asking, what depth were u fishing ?
