  1. Agree 100% braid on the beach and ul spend 75% of ur time fixing tangles and 25% actually fishing. Mono is best for the beach in my opinion
  2. oh well until next year I guess It's incredible, last year in mid may the water tempt at the fads was high 22"s and still producing good fish.
  3. G'day Raiders Has anyone been to the FaDs recently ? Are they still producing?
  4. Strange, I would of expected the trebles to give in before the metal body. And as amkr said, 6lb line should of bust off way before then !
  5. Welcome to FR, better luck next time, the harbour can be very productive at times but also hard to fish. Tomorrow afternoon is looking like a good chance for a fish !
  6. Wow, there's a first time for everything ! Foul hooked blue swimmer on a lure. That's amazing Great catch btw
  7. So the weather is looking pretty good this weekend ( so far ). I'm hoping to have one last try at the FADs for this season and maybe do some trolling for Bonito along the cliffs What's everyone else got in mind ?
  8. I agree I definitely change moods if I haven't fished the weekend, very temperamental and agitated all week. I check the weather daily hoping for good conditions and check FR for reports at least 2 times a day Some would say that's Sad.... but true
  9. So looks like the weather is going to be filthy, 20 knot winds all day ! Do I stay home or are the bay's worth a shot
  10. If I may add my 5c worth, why go to the pain of all the above when there are many other better legal fish species to be used as bait or burley
  11. Well I end up going out to botany fads, plenty of dollies still about but sent them all back because there's enough in the freezer. Size from 50cm to 70cm Trolled between the sydney Fad and botany wide for Zero. Trolled from sydney fad to cape banks also for zero. Picked up one solo bonito at Cape banks and some underside flatties and snapper just off la perous. Great day except for losing a rod overboard rogue wave caught me off guard and lost my balance, the only option to regain balance was to let go of the rod. Oh well.
  12. G'day mate Sounds like ur throwing your yakka out unweighted? Try sending it out under a float, down to a sinker swivel and leader of about 2-3m. that way ur yakka will be out of reach from birds and within the strike zone of most Pelagics
  13. G'day Raiders Haven't been fishing in a month as my best friend was getting married, setting up house etc. Who else to rely on other than the best man to run around haha. Planning to do some much needed fishing tomorrow , stuck between botany and sydney harbour, was wondering what the raiders would recommend , what's hot on the bite?
  14. Interesting, so what do we call a king that's between 65 and 90. It's neither a bandit nor a eat......
  15. Nice fish Sorry but where is MH lol
  16. G'day raiders , I have a window of opportunity coming up this week to fish an afternoon, I was wondering if it's worth having a go at some kings. Has anyone ever had any luck on Pelagics in the afternoon or should I focus my limited time on bream and bread n butter fishing Any advice is appreciated
  17. Mate your backdrop looks amazing where are you fishing ? Nice wobble btw
  18. Buying a new or put it in for maintenance ??? And hey don't be wishing bad weather for the rest of us haha
  19. So it looks like another sloppy weekend coming up, who's heading outside ? Hopefully it calms off and takes a turn for the better between now and Friday night !
  20. Yes mate there was an email alert from DPI this afternoon broken bay and Eden FADs adrift
  21. I agree very borderline I guess il just have to pop out and see what the conditions are like. At least it's a north Easter which makes for a ok ride back Mike that's a long way to go in a 4.2m !! Wish I had that kinda guts
  22. G'day raiders Who's heading out tomorrow ? Conditions sound like their going to be a bit sloppy , is it worth going outside ?
  23. Great catch yowie ! And u still went home with a feed . I find the smaller the yakka the more likely the catch do u agree ?
  24. Cheers hornet I actually gave them a try in the oven- mixed with garlic, pine nuts chilli and herbs Even with all the mixed herbs the fish had a strong flavour but it was OK eating none the less, though to be honest next time I might let them go
