Where was it caught M.J.
I've never seen a Green Moray with Blotches or that colour Rick usually that uniformed Greenish colour.
-
They're great Neil, part of the big picture when you go away hey.
Thanks.
-
I stand corrected Rick, you are right and the ones I have seen would be those as well.
Thanks mate.
I'll go and have a hard look in the mirror and give myself a uppercut.

Common name Blue Fusilier or Yellow and Blueback Fusilier "Caesio teres"
Seen 2 come in from Sydney in the last 5 weeks
One I believe weighed 700 grams
-
A couple of common names for this fish.
Yellowtail Barracuda.
Or
Striped Barracuda.
That' why a latin name sorts this out.
-
Could have it hit a nerve in your hand/arm.
-
Excellent in all aspects.
-
If it was caught in WA, my guess as WA hasn't got any big freshwater fish (maybe a released one) would be
either a Gold Spotted cod or a Blackspot cod as a QLD Groper doesn't have those facial/mouth markings.
Also common names are a buggar as some call both the above fish Estuary/Malabar cod.

Great report NT, seems like a great day was had.
-
Sydney Cardinalfish. "Ostorhinchus limenus"
-
I'm with you Paddy, Slatey Bream/ Painted Sweetlip "Diagramma dictum"
-
The Yellow Dorsal and Tail fins plus the spot (faint as it is) at the top of the gill plate definitely, a Brassy Trevally.
But at 24kgs and 100cm definitely not.

First is a Female Crimson Banded Wrasse
Second is a Male Crimson Banded Wrasse
Third is a Silver Drummer
Fourth is a Eastern Kelp Fish
Good on you returning them to the water when unsure of what they were.
-
All photos are excellent, but number 8 I recon is the best.

No Horizontal stripes on this fish hence my guess as a Purple wrasse.
But always happy to be corrected.
-
Awesome photos Jon and as Burger said "as usual"
-
Great Photo.
-
Voice you concerns by filling out the survey is my suggestion.
-
Top is a Ling or a few other common names "Largetooth Beard" Lotella rhacina
and the Eel is a "Green Moray" Gymnothorax prasinus or a few other common names
-
Fantastic repot Jani, excellent read.
Thanks for taking the time to write it up
-
I don't believe Bamboo Sharks are found in OZ.
-
No Burtie. It's a Blind Shark Brachaelurus waddi.
-
You have to be happy with that.
You caught some nice fish and three generations enjoying each others company whilst fishing.
Not many of us can do that.
Thanks.
-
My guess would be a Purple Wrasse Notolabrus fucicole.
Also bad luck with the Flatty, what a buggar.
