  1. Yes actually past Bream Beach (Not Bream Point) nearly at Wrights Beach, heading away from the ramp I go left (South / East) and there is a wide bay which comes to a small point, I drift from there back North east towards the caravan park, just outside the weed.

  2. The ramps will be busy as per every ramp during Easter, is you boat Alloy or F/g

I have launched at most of the ramps with my 5.4m Alloy Bowrider without drama and Calalla ramp is fine except for king low tides, the rest of the time its just a pain as the jetty is so high.

Currarong can be a tricky ramp but is good access straight out, only launched there once and as my mate live sthere he knew all the tricks but it was more just being a new ramp for me that was the drama. The pole dividers are a pain but help keep it two lanes and there is a rock break stopping you going to far back.

I like Myola river as its sheltered and a 5 min drive back to Calalla Bay and our friends place and the 4knt zone gives me time to clean up and pack stuff away before I get it on the trailer.

  3. Hi Bruce

I have fished the Basin a few times for mixed results, sometimes it fires and other times I'm just soaking baits and listening to the radio.

I launch from Erowal ramp as well, usually I head over towards Bream Point and drift just of the weed beds there for good sized flatties, a mate scored a good sized snapper there at 55cm, but we think that was just a one off. I did get my PB of 97cm flathead there as well.

I burley pretty hard if there is no bites with chicken pellet, bread, minced Pilchard and a dash of tuna oil, this brings the picker but also decent bream and tailor.

If the basin is quiet, I go the bay but don't have much luck in the bay as I have only fished it 2 or 3 times properly.

  4. Ok let’s hijack this thead

where does the water come from for the cleaning tables?

Is it sea water or fresh water?

if it’s sea water I used Rydalmere boat ramp on the Parra river and I don’t want my nice fresh ocean fish washed with Parra river water and everyone tells me not to use fresh water, guess I will have to either clean on the water or bring a bucket of sea water back as well.

If the wife found out I had a legal kingfish & didn't bring it home, she'd fillet me. I do need to lift my filleting game though - pretty ordinary at it.

Maybe we need a Fishraider filleting course, nothing worse than hacking a perfectly good fish up, that's why I love flathead, easy fillet and no bones.

  6. I use Fast Orange hand cleaner and then rub them on the stainless steel sink, Stainless is meant to get rid of smells like fish and onions.

p.s that’s part of the reason i fish Catch and release, I don’t know how to fillet and hate the smell of fish in the house.

"people coming up the road wont be able to see the Christmas tree in her lounge room window from that direction"  !!!!!!!!!

Well if you were nice, you would have moved the boat directly out the front of her house so everyone could see the Xmas tree from that angle, next time don’t be such a Grinch.

    ha ha ha ha

  8. My guy does the same as Raging, quick look around, Test lights and a shake of the wheel.

    Edit:

My trailer is also only 2yrs old and still looks brand new, so perception also plays a part, if it looks neat and tidy it should breeze through, if it looks like it should be on the scrap heap, it will get a decent inspection.

  9. Be considerate where you park it as well, try not to put it directly in front of someone’s house or block there vision when entering or leaving their driveway.

have it covered and remove any items easy to steal, move it regularly

  10. Yeah I love mine, Quiet and awesome on fuel, but I don’t think my dealer is that great.

its had the injectors and spark plugs cleaned at 15hrs due to running rich and developing miss fire, said it had not switched over from the 10hrs run in period.

i then got it serviced in Oct at 33hrs as I found out by getting a yearly service it extends the warranty to 5yrs.

Yeah I guess at least someone in Shoalbay / Nelson Bay might have spark plugs for it, Damn ETEC

my disappointments is that it was only serviced 10hrs ago, total of 42hrs on 2016 motor, but they didn’t change the plug as they said they will last 200hrs Pfft.

Could of been worse and had boat issues too. Then you would have the trifecta.

Well technically I have as a bolt behind the steering wheel has come undone as well, didn’t affect the steering as it’s a mounting bolt but found it while checking everything.

today I am learning how to index the spark plugs on my Etec since these one are fouling.

  13. Was watching at Shoal Bay ramp today when I saw a f/g boat come in and beach quite hard, The guys said they forgot the bungs.

They loaded it back onto the trailer and drained the boat, put the bung in and then while re launching, the boat was just into the water when it rolled off the trailer and hit the ramp.

    poor buggars
