  1. Your hubs will always have some rust, if it’s thick scaly rust then a change might be needed, if it’s just surface rust then a quick clean will be fine, once you use the brakes while towing the pads will clean the disc in about 5secs.

  2. It gets worse I have Holden stud pattern wheels but run Ford Wheel bearings factory Telwater Trailer.

i pulled mine out and took them to CBC or any bearing place and made sure I got the right type as mine didn’t have any numbers on them.

if your lucky you can pull the original bearings and the number will still be printed on them.

    Ford Bearings are

    LM12749/10

    LM68149/10

    Tip.

Make sure you also replace the dust / Grease cap if it does not fit nice and tight as that just wrecked a new set of bearings for me after 3 trips the salt water was washing in and out because the grease cap fell out but stayed behind the alloy wheel cap.

  3. I prefer a two piece rod as well, easier to transport in the car and when in the boat I can put the rods under the floor in the ski locker so they don't get broken or worse, fall out of the rod holder and loose a brand new rod / reel combo :(

  4. Since mine is a bow rider, and the bimini is only short it hasn't got in the way of my fishing yet and its great to get out of the sun.

With Kids its better to have than not, if I do have 3 mates fishing then I take it off and tell them to bring broad brim hats.

My understanding was you dont need the 1 - 1+2 - 2 - OFF switch anymore with the VSR.  Connect your battery to position 1.  All your electronics to position 2 and the VSR does the rest.  Only charges battery 2 when battery 1 is full.  Isolates the two from each other so you dont accidentally drain battery 1.  You might want an isolation switch for when the boat is not in use and you might want a way to jump your starter battery if for some reason it failed.

    Ok

So I if select Battery 1 everything works on my boat, If I select battery 2 everything works on my boat, So I guess they have just wired the battery two in series.

  6. I have used scotch guard on all of my boats, especially my current boat which I bought brand new.

I sprayed two coats on each side of the Bimini one coat length ways one coat across, two coats on the carpet after a full vacuum and I wiped down the seats with a soft coth with scotch guard sprayed on it.

It makes the Bimini waterproof and easier to keep clean and the carpets easier to keep clean.

I did this cause it rained for 2 weeks after I brought the boat home, I also used car wax and polish on the hull.

  7. I wonder if the previous owner was a light weight and had a fat mate, so he added extra weight to the drivers side to counter act his fat mate?

P.s at 112kg I am usually that mate.

    Now seriously:

Replace the Bung and try that, amazing how much water can get in from a poor seal.

If you can lift the floor or a section of the floor out then I would do that, then put the boat in the water and see if you can see any water leaks, my old boat only did it when the boat was loaded and in the water as the pressure pushed the water through the small hole where a rock must have pierced it on a beach landing. Used some kneed it on the inside and then thought about getting it welded but never bothered.

If you cannot get under the floor, lower the front of your boat down and put the hose into the bung hole and see if you can find a crack or hole leaking or tilt it up and see if anything flushes out like Sand.

I assume you have checked every storage pod, under floor and under seat storage for a bag of sand

  8. I Have a Marlin brand jacket and it cost $70 and they sell a recharge kit for $30, I will keep the recharge kit receipt plus the permanent marker Self service notes written in the jacket as proof, I also have a few of the normal 100+ lifejackets just in case next to my Epirb, funny thing is I have never been more than 200mtrs from shore.

    Quick Reference Dec 2017

Inflatable lifejackets must be serviced at least every 12 months or at longer intervals in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.

Note: For new inflatable lifejackets, this period starts from the date of purchase, Proof of Purchase Date will be required.

It is recommended that non swimmers and children under 12 years of age do not wear an inflatable lifejacket.

    Manufacturer's servicing

Some manufacturers require you to have your lifejacket serviced by them or by an authorised agent. This will ensure it remains in good working order and functions properly.

    Self servicing

Some manufacturers allow you to 'self service' your lifejacket, provided you do so in accordance with their instructions.

If you are self servicing, follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully. If there is a service record in the inside of the jacket, sign and date the service record with a permanent marker. If not, make a paper record of your own and keep a copy handy on board the vessel.

From my personal experience everytime i see a lot of jellyfish about (the clear glass looking ones which don't seem to have any stingers or trailing arms), I pretty much don't catch anything in that session or at the very least in my mind dont seem to get the frequency of 'action' if they were not around. This is fishing the harbour and parra river system.

I find the same thing, lots of jelly fish not much action.

the clear ones don’t sting in the Parra river  as we have jelly blubber fights when we are in the water.

The red ones sting but for me it’s like a blue bottle but not as painful.

  10. Hi All

My mate has a cruise craft 6 or 6.2mtr F/Glass and he re powered from a 2001 / 200hp Yamaha 2stroke to a 2016 / 225 Suzuki 4 stroke. He loved the Yamaha but with the hours he does chasing the big fish the 4 stroke gave him better fuel consumption, quieter and longer range. But he did feel he had to go to the biggest he could fit and afford to make sure performance wasn't compromised as when your that far out and it turns nasty he wanted power to get home.

Another mate has a 6.4 Alloy and he runs a 150hp Honda 4 stroke which is a great motor good turn of speed and quiet, 300hrs and no issues. This boat is almost as quick off the mark as another mates 5.75 Alloy boat with a 130hp Etec, but the Honda gets him at top end fuel consumption is a line ball affair, Honda by a liter or two over the weekend.

I also have a 115hp Etec and the two Etecs(2015 & 2016) in our group have had no issues, my motor had a minor issue of not switching off the run in mode after 10hrs so it fouled the plugs, fixed under warranty and sorted.

I think you need to stay above the 175hp and pick the motor with the dealer you like who is close to your area.

Good luck, between the Honda, Suzuki and Etec if $$ were not a factor and the HP was the same then i would pick Honda, Etec and then Suzuki.

  11. My new trailer had a issue with the pins not wide enough once i fixed it with a flat blade all is well.

Should be fine as long as the individual wires are secure properly inside the plug housing.
