  1. Clean the water galleries as best as possible, using pipe cleaners, wire and fill with water and blow out with compressed air.

i would change the thermostat and water pump as it may be failing at low speed and not having enough pressure to make it pass any small blockages.

    P.S

i am assuming this is when it's in the water and not on ear muffs as some motors don't like to idle for long periods on ear muffs.

  2. My new boat had swarf from installing all of the equipment, they did clean most of it just not up to my standard, it also rain for two weeks after I picked it up so what else was I supposed to do with a new boat, while it rained

I have pulled the floor up yet, to scared it wont sit flush again and look new.

My last boat I sold I took the young bloke down to the ramp after removing the flooring of the tinnie and showed there was no leaks or cracks.

  3. Ok

    1. The engine has been running a bit hot, not critical but it is running slightly hot. With a pump propeller change that should fix that. My max temp was Stbd side at 90.4 yours 101.3

    2. Your EMM is also water cooled and has been running slightly hotter than normal, mine spent 60% of the time in the 30 to 39 bracket and 40% just below the 50 marker. So similar to yours. My EMM max temp was 56.7 your was 92

    3. Your Cyl 1 - 4 cycles and delay as very similar to mine, I just have more cycles as i have more hours.

    4. My engine speed rpm profiles are very similar although I have 48hrs so I have more in the 40 range but 8 is also my highest bar. You must hit above 5000rpm each use as that is when the exhaust valve opens other wise it will seize. Once it seizes it will be great u till 4000rpm or something and then it will be a pig. Early motors had a recall to have a grease nipple fitted and this needs periodic greasing.

    5. The occurred faults are faults which have been logged by the computer, in your case they only happened once and haven't reoccurred, I'm pretty sure it means the overheat occured at the 7hr mark and the coils had a issue at 9hrs but without putting more hours on it you won't know if it was just a spike in the system or something more, although if it was a constant fault it would come up more often.

    6. Mine has a consistent 125psi in each cylinder

hope that helps, I think since the motor has now been serviced it should be fine and don't be freaked out by the report, all modern motors have then and you can get analysis paralysis.

i also think if you run the motor more in the high rev range it will also run cooler

give it a good test drive and make sure it hits the high RPMs e.g. Atleast up to 5,900 rpm.

It would be dangerous driving while on these kind of drugs wouldn't it?

    especially after a few beers.

also the police might arrest anyone if a drug test came back positive?

your better being seasick on a fishing trip  than traveling to or from the fishing charter and running off the road into a tree or a car full of kids and a family.or being arrested for drug test fail.

Agree, I stopped at the lights and though, I have 5 mins will just close my eyes, woke up when the guy behind blew his horn, He wasn't there when I stopped at i was the only one on the road, so who knows how many sets of lights I missed.

I had take sea sick pills before and thought i bought the same brand and type, turns out i didn't, they were the ones that can make u drowsy.

    Upside

Just picked the boat up from being serviced and I hardly drink these days and never if i have to take a medicine and don't get sea sick.

Bring on the long weekend, where people who only use their boats once per year are out in force, hogging the ramps and creating mayhem.

  5. Beware Avomine can make you drowsy, especially if you add beer.

i had a Avomine and 2 beers while on a fishing charter and a couple of hours later on the way home I feel asleep at a set of lights at Epping Road.

    p.s

Mojo you have a bad memory, you keep repeating yourself

  6. My mates swear by the tablets Andrew Ettinghousen gets, they get sea sick in the bath, yet take these and are able to go outside in clam days and all day in Harbours and rivers.

they order through a chemist or something in Sutherland and are all natural I think.

will try and get the name and address and PM u.

  7. I never trust a seller about servicing unless they can produce a receipt, to many wannabe Mech out there, change the easy to see things and don't worry about the harder things.

i bought a 2007 25hp and the owner said it was recently serviced, no receipt cause like everyone he had a mate who was a marine Mech, I bought the outboard budgeting on it needing a service and then took it straight for a service, turns out the thermostat was missing and the impeller was old and worn, but it did have new plugs and fuel filter.

Is your oil injected or pre mix as maybe that's playing up, is it using the normal amount of oil?

  8. Also when it happens is the fuel bulb soft or hard?

Start with changing filters and the fuel line if it's perishing at the joint.

    Fresh fuel?

when was the engine last serviced, did they change the water pump impeller, has the thermostat been check or replaced?

  9. Ok

So i will be leaving my boat out on the street for a few weeks, here is the list of things I have thought about to try and protect it.

    1. good waterproof cover / motor cover and tie downs

    2. Trailer wheel lock / Clamp

    3. Tow Hitch lock

    4. Empty the stuff out of it like sounder, Epirb, battery isolated

    5. Chained to street sign

    6. Wheel chocks even though it's flat.

    7. Change my insurance

    anything I have missed?

The tlratchet wheel should do the job for you OK. Reverse the trailer far enough in but still allow for swinging room. You then move the trailer using the ratchet and you're steering from the same point, with only minimal pushing from the bow, if at all. An electric dolly would be the duck's nuts but I couldn't afford one!

From my brief Ebay search and online there is only about $80 difference plus a battery between the ratchet and electric.

The battery I can get 2nd for free, so will see how I go this weekend .

    Raging

I will need to wait until I buy a new place and build our home before I ask for anymore toys, this rental doesn't have enough room.

  11. As Browncrab said, They are rated to a Max HP & Max Weight

So a 4 stroke can weight lots more than a 2 stroke although the 4 stroke motors are getting lighter now.

My boat is Alloy 5.4mtrs and has a Max Hp of 130hp, I have the 115hp Etec on it and in a 4stroke the biggest I could have gone was the Suzuki 100hp.

I don't feel my boats under powered with the 115hp, although I did see a guy with the same boat as mine and he had a 90hp Etec and he also said it went well.

I can drag 3 adults on a ski tube and chase dolphins and cruise around Port Stevens swimming at different bays for 3.5 days from morning to afternoon and I used 83ltrs from the 90ltr tank.

When I was looking there was a few boats with engines I felt were to small for the boat, they all tell you its fine but I have always felt its better to have closer to the Max Hp rather than the minimum.

Boat Show specials are common for under powering, mine was a boat show special and I upgraded it to the 115hp from the 90hp.
