  1. I'd be inclined to agree about the water flow off the chine causing issues. Moving more to the centre line of the hull where there isthe least disturbance to the water may mske a difference. It may a l so reduce the spray your getting. Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
  2. I was wondering the same thing. I have a dsc vhf radio but would need to get a gps sig to it without having to go down the road of either a dedicated GPS receiver or upgrading all electronics on boat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Based on the info in the links you provided. I'd be inclined to go the 730. It specifically calls out the marine specs. Also having a standard form factor means no special figment issues with boxes or cradles. Just my opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I'm fairly sure the offshore kits include parachute flares also. There is a commercial kit as well as the offshore racing kit the Syd to Hobart guys require. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Good to know he's safe. Hope motor is ok. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    hit sand

Insane video. [emoji28] The motor will need a serious flush out as there is probably sand sitting in the water jacket. Impeller may be the least of your worries but the most obvious. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    hit sand

If it is a minor blockage in the line it might come free by havingoyor at idle and adjust tilt and trim full cycle a few times. Keep an ear out for the overheat and don't go past idle. Consider calling marine rescue, as they'll tow you back. Better safe than blowing the motor. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Jaycar has contact cleaner and as Its not selling to the rev heads it is more reasonable priced. White scotchbrite and a bit of brasso works wonders on electrical terminals. I Used to use it for cleaning hv contacts and switchgear, as it tends to polish the contacts rather than cutting them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Has anyone rigged a bilge float switch so that it switches off the pump when on the plane. Just a thought as it might save the pump bearing from overheating when out of water. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Members Boats.

Hey guys. Reasonable new to the forum but trying to be active. Recently got back into fishing and boating after too many years off the water. My new toy is a stacer baymaster, 60hp Honda 4stroke and lowrance 5 Sounder. Ric Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. I use both at home and the hitch lock at ramps. Keeps the insurance company happy. I also back the trailer up as far as possible without bending things so that it makes it really difficult to unhitch. Ric. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Anchors

Ok guys. 3:1 length: depth ratio, win a higher ratio suggested, but how many actually have their role marked off so the length indicated. I'd suggest that excluding the auto winch guys who can dial out the length most of us small boat guys guess how much is actually plied out. Having read this post thread I'll be marking the anchor line that came with my boat to see how little rope I actually have Le alone chain length. Ric. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Hey zook, that hole in the photo I posted drops down to 8 meters plus in an average 2m deep channel. I received the freebie from navionics also and am looking forward to trying in outside the Illawarra, in botany and hacking. Free is way better than $4k. Ric. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Really nice way to spend an afternoon. Hoping to hit botany again soon. It's been too many years off the bay and hoping to get some good catches. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    My new boat

hey Tuffy. I used to have a Johnson 115 2stroke. 1 tank out 2 back. I now have a Honda 60 4 stroke that is whisper quiet at idle and really fuel efficient. I'll never go back to a 2 stroke. Ric. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. You can actually have multiple units reading the data output so, you could have a sounder in multiple locations on the boat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Install is really easy. 12v power and mount the sensor. Too simple. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Navmii maps are free and download completely to re phone so no sim required or data plan like google maps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  21. Hey Craig. I'll pm you some screen shots form today one I figure out how. I received one of the freebies and the campaign has just finished. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Hey guys. I have the sonar phone paired to a repurposed iPhone that has navionics and to be honest I'm really impressed. I have it side by side with a lowrance elite 5 and it is giving me the exact same readings. For a small boat owner it is a really cheap cost for a Nav/plotter set up. For $25 I have the same charts as the Nav gold for a lot less coin. Ric. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Jayd, i just bought about 8 maps at kemba office and it was well worth having a chat with them. They have all the maps, stickers and info you could need. Take te d r ive diwn if oyr in the area. I used to fish the sea board side of bear islnd without all the gear that the new regs require. I have to go shopping also . Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
  24. Anything outside the heads is considered offshore. 2nm out and gps required. Current boat rules from maritime at port Kembla lists it all. I heard there are some good spots of Sandon. Let me know please as I'm planning on some trips down here once it warms up. Ric. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Pulled up by maritime in lake Illawarra a couple of weeks ago. Same deal, checking for jackets was the big point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
