  1. Did the survey but no call for the focus groups. No problem. How'd the group go? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I didn't know there was a local research program going on. It would have been interesting to go. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Don't forget that you have Georges river, warragamba dam and all the dams around the Illawarra not far from you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Oh man. Don't I wish I could, but the piggy bank needs fattening first. [emoji241]Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Geez, I know who I'll chat too if/when I ever need the deck replaced. Awesome looking end product. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Looks like a storm is about to hit Wollongong. Beautiful morning, now this. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. On Aircraft , I've seen cork and Teflon tape as an insulator between interfaces and it helps reduce vibration noise. It might be something to consider. Rubberised/foam tape is a good alternative. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Hi Squid, will you install rubber strip between stringers and floor plate? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Looking at botany and waters near Anzac bridge and wishing I was on the water with some lines over the side. Good mixed bag for the morning. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Why would you weld in the floor??? You'll change the design stress of the boat and introduce new fatigue points. Aluminium dust can explode in correct circumstances. Refer extract: "During fabricating operations, aluminum fines may be generated by such activities as grinding, sawing, cutting, sanding or scratch brushing and at least some of them will be fine enough to be potentially explosible. The term “dust” or “powder” is frequently used to describe such particles. It is difficult to be specific about dimensions, but if all the particles are larger than 500 microns, an explosion will probably not be sustained. It is more likely, however, that a mixture of coarser and finer material will be generated, and if the material is 420 microns (40 mesh) or finer, then it has the potential for explosion. Finer particles burn readily when their ignition point is reached, and tend to ignite the coarser particles as well. In the case of aluminum, an explosion can result if ignition occurs while the particles are suspended in air as a dust cloud, since the burning extends from one particle to another with extreme speed. Examples of potential sources of ignition are open flames, welding equipment and cutting torches, matches and cigarettes, faulty electrical equipment and static electrical discharges. Such conditions must be avoided in areas where dust producing operations are carried out." [emoji848] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Hi 4myson, thanks for the chuckle due to stating the obvious. However there are some hoses like the water pressure hose for boat speed that is a clear hose on my boat that I would be very cautious about getting any solvent based fluid on even though it was fitted by the dealer. I think the genuine parts fitted by manufacturer would be OK as most of these are nitrile based hoses and fuel/oil resistant components and impervious to the effects of most solvents. That said I wouldn't be spraying a MEK ( mostly banned theses days) based lubricant on any part of my boat Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Yeah it has a multitude of uses. Just don't burn it or overheat it as it emits formalthahyde. (Yep spelt it wrong). Used it for years as high temp abrahasive resistant tubing for jet engine wiring. The heat shrink tubing is excellent. And stretches with a little pull whist shrinking to give a really tight finish. 14. High pressure wash and rinse of the trailer at the car wash (5mins) from home every time I take the boat out. I even flood the bilge with the high pressure rinse to help remove any salt that may have accumulated (saves my water bill). Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Have a look at the top of any small sail boat masts after they've gone turtle and you'll see the mast come out covered in black sludge. [emoji88]drop a sand anchor in and see what come up attached and you'll understand why not to eat the local produce from the lake. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Great big washers under the nut and bot head as this also spreads the load onto the backing plate. Hot dipped in parrafin wax before installation and torqued down helps prevent corrosion at the interfaces between the materials. Non corrosive silicon can also be used. Led lights

I have it wired to the accessories switch and fuse. I don't wire anything directly to the battery. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Interested in the response as to which type to get. GME KTI or other. And what is a reasonable price. I know 121mhz is no longer used and I require one for over 2nm from shore and I hope I never need an outlet deploying unit so I'll look got manual. But are there any recommendations. ??? Led lights

Put them just below the gunnels and glued them to the hull pointed towards the deck. 4x20cm strips down each side and 2 strips under the front deck. Roughly $100 for the kit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Led lights

Hi all, Bought a set of LED lights from the #3 grocery store early in September and only today had a chance to fit them. Really pleased with the result and so simple to fit and a big range of colours from white through purple. I'll use the white and red. It also has a multifunction mode that I'll use with the kids on board watching fireworks. Ric. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  23. Even on the sealed section of the hull there should be some pump out facility as the bilge is the lowest section of the hull even if it is under the floor. A water tight inspection port is a relatively straight forward installation to assist with checking the bilge pump. On your deck if above water line you may have scupper valves that will allow water to wash out without need for a second bilge pump. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. That seat is excellent. Would really like one of those for tackle and tool kit down the back. I use a cargo net up front for spare life jackets etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Respray Cost

Big issue you will have if you've used any silicon based lubricant, booths won't let you in. It messes with paint big time. Your engine/ trailer and steering mechanisms need to be bagged. Biggest headache will be around Windows and any hull feed throughs. This is where most labour is the paint process is the shortest part of the job. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
