  1. Great to see such a functional reuse of some one else throw away. Looks like you saved a small fortune by recycling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Don't give any ideas of starting a clamp down. [emoji6] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Botany Bay with a big southerly can be a real challenge when heading back towards the bridges as the bay is shallow so you'll get lots of waves. As everyone else has mentioned start inside and get really comfortable with how your boat handles. 200 on the back will get you out of trouble if you know how to handle your boat but can get you into more trouble than you want if you don't know how to handle it. Build up your local knowledge about your preferred waters. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Sounds like a raider social day at bellambi might be an idea. Consider it a sharing of information and local knowledge. [emoji848] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Hey recurve. Thanks for the great write up about bellambi. As a local I've taken the boat down there and received great advice and offers of help to launch there but reconsidered that I would then have to retrieve solo. Best decision was to move on down to port Kembla as it is much more forgiving for solo launch and retrieve. The last time I was there I watched as the ramp rats laughed at some very unprepared guys struggling to get their flat bed ute and trailer out of the water and yes the JetSki fools adding to the surge. Local knowledge is key and I appreciate the info you've provided. Ric. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I have a transit cover on my boat which I'll be using more based on this discussion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I wonder when the charter crews are going to start using drones to spot and drop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Nice setup on the roof. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Hey deek. That looks like a dive ladder that's been repurposed. Neat setup. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Polycore. [emoji1360]they use aluminium and fibreglass composite floors in aircraft cabins and cargo areas. High traffic and load bearing. The fibreglass floors are corrosion resistant obviously. Ric. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. If your trailer was designed with brakes and you disable/remove them or if it can be seen that they don't work then your insurance will most likely be void in the event of an accident even if your not at fault. Your rego papers will most likely have the gvm or tare weights listed. Ric. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Even if you do go down onto the break wall you'll have to compete with the locals. [emoji1360] Ric. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  14. Hey bakes. If your talking about the White horizontal line extending out from the outboard mounting plate you'll find it is on most alloy boats. If you look inside the transom you'll find there are stiffening plates welded at those points. If the mount bolts are tight and your still concerned take it to a marine workshop to get checked. I think one of the site sponsors are a marine mechanic. Cheers Ric. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Wind, tide, trim settings, Bimini up or down. Speed is a factor of thrust versus drag and is affected by how deep the hull is in the water and how much air resistance you have. Any nicks in the prop will also reduce your effective thrust because of cavitation. 2-4 knots off top speed isn't bad. 10-15 and I'd be really worried. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Hey mark. Have a look at the straight pump as you can use either the bottom inlet or move the hose to use the horizontal inlet. It is probably the most flexible set up as it give you a through transom or through hull set up. I've use a straight pump on mine and happy with end result. That is just my 2cents worth. Ric. 17. That's the beauty of most resigned (responsive) sites, that they don't need an app to work. Looking forward to seeing the redesign. I use iOS, droid and pc's so it will make for an interesting comparison. Hi Donna, how did the plug-in work out that I sent your way?? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  20. Very appropriate reminder taking into Account this weeks occurance. I hope none of the raiders community was involved. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I've towed a few guys and made sure we used their rope. Where possible set up a bridle on the tie down points on the transom. I've mostly done tows in botany and always to the closest beach or ramp to make them safe until they can get fixed or a bigger tow from marine rescue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Have you tried?

Paddles are great for fending off but unless you in a canoe they are next near useless in any sort of current. Ric. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hey zack, after reading some of your post it seems your really new to boating. I'd suggest you hold off thoughts of night boating till you are confident in you own boating skills. Boating at night is a completely different ball game and you don't want to become a news article. Stay safe and get to know your new boat and be sure of your own capabilities. I'm fairly sure there are a lot of others who would agree that night boating is not for newbies. Ric. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Top job on the carpeting. Looking forward to seeing the final product. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
