    Help required.

Never done it . I like you in so many ways. I have often thought of using my dash camera as it\s cheap and does a good job filming wher you drive on a basic drive. sit it on a tripod at the front of the boat and when needed you can pick it up and scan around with it . Just a thought. Don't know how you would trandfer the footage on a web site or Utube. I can't afford a g pro so I thought this may be an option. Frank
  2. Sounds like a pretty good day\s fishing to me although I don't know about doing 10 hours straight these days. Frank
  3. Where do you live ? and is the boat off the trailer ? Maybe I could come and have a look at the damage and advise you what steps to take. I am going down to Bermi fishing on Mon, Tues, Wed, and Thurs next week but any time after that I could come and have a look at the boat for you Frank PS the boat should not be resting on the skids they are only to stop the boat from rocking side to site when under way on the trailer. The weight of the boat should be on the keel rollers.
  4. If you want to do the job yourself and save HEAPS of dollars you could come to my place in Berala and I could teach you how to apply this soft alloy material it take a bit of skill first up to do it and if not taught you may find it difficult to do. I will not charge you anything to show you how to do the job. Frank
  5. Hi A couple of years ago I could have done the job for you but I am simply too old now to take on any work. If it's a old boat with many small holes in it you will find once the welder starts sanding away the old contaminated surface good enough to weld (material must be clean ) he/she will find many more holes and the job will cost more than the boat is worth. You can do the job yourself with some practice. There is a soft melting alloy rod that you can buy and you will need a good propane torch about $80 from large hardware store and you clan the alloy around the hole and heat the area up , while heating the area keep moving the torch ( DON'T JUST LEAVE THE FLAME ON ONE SPOT ) and dab the welding rod onto the area . When the surface of the alloy reaches the correct temperature the rod will start melting, wipe the rod over the hole and this will make a permanent repair. As with most things practice practice practice on a off cut of Alloy you can buy a small plate of alloy from the same store that sells the flame frower. select the same thickness plate as you hull . Frank
  6. Zoran. I had a similar situation. When I joined this site I wanted to use my old nick name that I have had since I was about 20 years of age and used it on several fishing sites over the years. That name was " Nimrod " but the name was taken by a user that had never posted, so I had to choose another user name " FrankS ". Frank PS the F is in lower case .
  7. Another great post wonderful photos and it is sure giving me a itch that is hard to scratch. I must do something to ease the pain. Frank
  8. Neil. That would have to be the most entertaining 6 minutes I have experienced on this site. Thanks for putting it together . Should be more like it. you sure d live in a beautiful place. Wiradjuri Country , People of 3 rivers, home of many Lizards. Frank
  9. You should have bought a Aluminium trailer from me 27 years ago and you would still be using the original trailer. I bought my Savage Lancer in 1984 and still have it, put new ETec on it 2005 and have replaced trailer once. Frank
  10. I was recently asked how many boats I have owned over my lifetime and I couldn't think of a number to tell the guy so I said about 20 well here is a list of the ones I can remember I have owned. 1st boat 12' tinnie 4hp johnson and trailer bought from Nock and Kirbys liverpool around 1961, trailer was bought seperate from boat and motor. 2nd boat 17'2" pongrass half cab 85ho Johnson on trailer, first boat to go outside the heads with. 3rd boat 12' Dehaveland flat bottom punt 6hp Johnson, still have this boat, motor and trailer long gone. 4th boat 13' SavageSnipe 15hp Johnson' built trailer first of many. 5th boat Glass tri hull around 16' 55hp Evenrude and 2nd hand built trailer. 6th Brooker 14' 30hp Johnson and trailer 7th boat another 12' dehaveland punt 9.9 Mariner and my first aluminium hand built trailer. 8th boat 15' Glass half cab can't remember the make 55 Evenrude and trailer. 9th boat 6'2 glass tri hull 200 Mercury bogy trailer was going to be my charter boat as it had Vic 2c servey but changed my mind. 10th boat 14' Savage gannet bought brand new 30hp motor first new item for a boat, and 2nd alloy trailer hand built. 11th boat14' Brooker 40hp Evenrude and trailer. 12th boat475df Steber 55 Evenrude and trailer 2nd longest boat I have owned. 13th boat Savage lancer 5.3 80hp Mariner and trailer 2005 bought new 90hp Etac motor, still have this boat althought unused for last 7 years. 14th boat Bertram 28 ' twin mercruser diesels Moored Bermagui harbour. 15th boat 7.3 steel hull alloy half cab, EX police boat made in France 351 ford V8 motor moored Bermagui Harbour. 16th boat 4.3 Sea Al 40hp Johnson and trailer. 17th boat 4.9 Quintrex Jon boat 1 of only 4 in Australia, built export to U S A for duck boat. This was brand new bare hull bought 40hp Tohatsu and built aluminium trailer, decked out to side console compitition boat. ( wish I still had it , only boat I regret selling ). Now it comes to boats I have had since joining this forum. Pongrass 17'2" waverider half cab had 120hp Johnson on it but switched to 90hp Johnson ( late model ) for more reliability as it was moored in Bermagui and I took it outside often. Brooker 14' tinnie converted to side console 30hp Mercury and trailer. Quintrex 15' tinnie 40hp Evenrude made aluminium trailer for it. Quintrex 14' project boat never seen water sold recently. Savage Scorpion 485sf 90hp eTEC Evenrude and trailer (currently for sale). Pride Gazelle 5.5 open glass with forward bow ride. There would be no doubt a few mixed in there somewhere I have forgotten about. Forgot the 16foot wood surf boat I fully glassed over and put 60hp Army johnson on it ( heavy duty motor ) built steel trailer for it. Only had it 3 weeks and one day down at picnic point a guy seen it and fell in love with it and offered me silly money for it . Hope he still uses it. as well as these I have been halves in 4 other boats that I won't count here. Just thought this may be interesting for some members here. Frank
  11. Don't know their proper name but they bury themselves vertically in the sand and pop up now and again . emerge about half their body out of their hole and reverse back down into their hole. I used to watch them from my boat while moored in Bermagui Harbour . My mooring was two spots down from the slipway where they work on the boats. If you want to see these eels doing their thing there is a road that you can stop at and watch them behins the slipway. Frank
  12. Unfortunately this project remains just as it was back in September. I have not laid a finger on it since. Due to my failing health and extremely hot weather conditions I have not been able to do any work on this project, the boat is at my mates place in Guildford and I live in Berala and every time I make the effort to go over to do something to the boat the weather is so hot I just can't breath so I just look at it for 10 minutes and come home again. Maybe once it cools down a bit I may be able to do some more work to it, just hope it doesn't get too darn cold before I can get something done. Frank

  16. Hi Neil. Hope you are not feeling the heat as much as I am of late, used to love Summer but now just can't breathe with the hot weather and spend most of my time locked up in my bedroom looking at old video tapes. I had a young bloke here to try and pick my brain about fishing in general ( try and help new fishoes out a much as I can ) and he started talking PE this and PE that and I thought " what the *&%^ is this guy on about. When he left I found a couple of rods and reels I have and they have this PE talk on them so I asked Google what it was all about. Live and learn something new every day. Frank
  17. That is a very good point and a new set of bearings and seals would be best no matter which way you went. Frank
  18. OK do you want to do this on a budget or buy new from dealership. If you don't mind spending a quid just go to a trailer shop and buy axle, hubs with bearings and wheels and tyres to suit just keep in mind there are dozens of different lengths of axles and you would need to get the one that fits your trailer. The cheapest way out IF you don't mind putting a bit of man power and time into it is get an old Box Trailer and use the axle hubs and wheels you will probably have to buy a spare separately as not many box trailers are sold with spares. If you don't mind travelling to Berala I have a old box trailer here you can have for FREE but will need new tyres about $100 each and a spare. Frank
  19. Love what you done to the tinnie. Just be careful pulling along side a pontoon or another vessel those nev lights are prone to damage in that position. Frank
  20. Neil. You mentioned 2 of my favorite places, Coopernook pub, and Orange. Coopernook pub holds dear in my heart as it was a regular stop every time I went to visit my brother and family in Moorland he had a 200 acre property with a small creek running just behind the house, many a day spent exploring that little creek. There is a road up there named after my family which now runs through part of the property. Orange is where my Daughter was born and I still have friends that live on the Ophir road. Been a while since I have been in either area but the memories are still there. Frank
  21. Neil. You re looking good after reaching SUNSET STRIP . Good to see you still travelling and catching up with fellow Fishraiders. HI Gordon loving the good life and trying new waters, keep it up. Frank
  22. Good to see you and your mate do well on the Whiting, last time I had a similar session to this was also during fairly large swell coming through the heads. Big swell must turn the fish on the bite. Frank
  23. Li. Great to see you getting out and catching up with Derek and other members of this fantastic fishing forum. Derek is (as you know) a terrific bloke and a great teacher and you couldn't do better than to follow his advice and teachings. I hope that one day I too can join you and fellow Fishraiders on a fishing adventure. I enjoyed the read and look forward to up coming adventures from you. Frank
  24. As above separate battery for electric motor. You could get a smaller 12v 24amp hour battery for the sounder this would not take up much room and would be lighter than full sized battery. Easy to recharge and easy to manage. Frank
