  1. no probs fab..i should have put more thought into my words..doesn't matter  happy aust day to all enjoy the water if your near it..im goin for a beer soon with my son and his mates..wish I was fishin but il make do...rick

  2. thank you neil...its just as easy to help others as being secretive..im not giving away exact gps marks but general areas where fish can be caught more often than not...on one of my areas I fish anywhere in an area 250mtrs wide by 150mtrs...the fish are there..you just have to look and try..as I said before looking at google I have picked out spots where I have caught fish.in areas I normally would have drove past...I gave scratchie a heads up on an area and he got some nice reds there the other day..as he said we don't own the ocean so sharing it is the right thing to do....I have responded to some pms but its hard to give exact marks as I very rarely fish in the same spot ...I move around and fish dependant on what my hds shows me..my last three sessions the marks are 140mtrs apart  and 60mtrs from that....looking at google and picking out shallow reef areas  think like this..current generally runs nth to south.so find ground anchor out over sand and fish back to reef edge..if you sit on top of reef expect red rock cod/sergeant baker/wrasse and assorted crap...this simple approach should uncover dozens of spots off Sydney where a large percentage of our raiders live..not everyone can travel up or down the coast and lots of guys only go where other boats are like long reef  try coming in shallower and fish first light or last light and you might get a big red surprise...rick

  3. well hopefully in the near future we will try and have an outing up there for others to join in..we can have a meet and give some advice and areas an tecniques to help others that are snapper challenged..haha...there is a lot more than just reds to chase as well...the trailerboat comp might be interesting..will see if I can swing it to fish..rick

  4. after catching a few there the other..we stayed on the eastern or outside edge  right away from the work zone.but there were other boats getting in amongst the pens...there was no need to be in there as the amount of fish outside the area was incredible...im not surprised by them shutting it down as there is millions of dollars worth of their product swimming round waitin to get fed an go back in the pens.....it was fun while it lasted...rick

  5. if your steering is that hard to turn..you either need to replace your cable or remove it and run a lubricant thru it..its not hard but will make a big difference..grease tends to clag up in them over a period of time..its normally a grease and salt mix in the tube that makes them hard to move...run some degreaser thru then oil  you might be surprised at the results..rick

  6. not sure if you can get hyd kit for such small motor..seems overkill for price..you can get Teleflex kit to suit..im assuming your motor doesn't have tube on bracket for steeringtube to go thru..Teleflex can mount to transom with cable mounted off fixed arm with pivot aiming at bracket sticking out front of motor...lot cheaper too...rick

  7. there is some good landbased fishing to be had at windamere..hardbodies an spinnerbaits are the go...halfway back from Cudgegong van park towards the dam wall the castlereagh hwy goes close to the water..there is a rock wall worth working and plenty of open hillside leading in to water if you walk a bit..ive caught goldens/silvers/cod from here....hope you find some fish on the chew...purple is very good colour  or green/yellow frog pattern...rick

  8. I stuck with the 2.7 yaks with no rudder  if i had a rudder model i would break it off first trip  we go over logs rocks all dorts of hard immovable shallow objects..if u gish estuaries bays and snag free waters then rudders are fine  but where i fish they wouldnt last ten mins...rick

  9. after many years of comp spearfishing..you would be amazed where I have seen big reds in the middle of the day....this led me to knowing spots to fish burley n floaters...there are lots of shallow reefs up n down the coast..find a spot to try anchor up current and fish back to the face of the reef and onto the top of it.....looking on google or any of the mapping sites with satellite..you can pick hundreds of reefs just off headlands..from barrenjoey to north head there are dozens of reefs that look good on satellite...how many people ever try them.???rick

  10. the thermostat is built into the design of most motors to regulate the flow of water dependant on temperature..some engines have spring loaded relief or poppet valves to increase flow in high rev high temp situations...just cause you have water coming out telltale doesn't mean engine is running at optimal temp or may be overheating and doing damage that will cost heaps...thermostats are there for a reason..buy a new one and have peace of mind that its running right...cheaper than rebuild/being towed/smashing up on rocks after breaking down.????????????????????
