a mate and I bought our yaks together..both the same colour as well we treat em rough.i paddle flat out at logs across the creek and drive up over them..they are nearly unbreakable...there are a few differing styles among the yaks available..just find one that takes your fancy..the only to look for are some have more of a keel to keep them tracking straight..rick

that's not a steep deadrise..themiddle of transducer should be level with middle of hull between strakes..i wasn't clear enough before sorry..tranny should be parallel with hull not ground..rick
-
if you have an 83/200 or 50/200 transducer they have a line down the side of them..this should be mounted level with the bottom of the hull..ge someone to hold a ruler or level as a straight edge and mount the transducer parallel with this...my 83/200 reads at 25 knots on my vsea....hds5 luv em..rick

this southerly blowing now should push the better water as well as the bait in closer..good luck next trip..rick

real fishos don't sit...lol....I hate sittin down travelling at sea..better to take the knocks an jars thru your legs than your back..the one on the steber was built to my height..im 6'2" and like looking just over the top that way when your standing back a little from the screen the wind goes over your head..no wind in the eyes is better for seeing where your going...rick

hey mitch..im no expert on yaks but I own two..both 2.7 long..one 780 wide one is 840 wide slightly different shapes on the side one rounded down to waterline one angled and flat down the side...I don't stand up in either..some people might but they aren't designed for it..thats why they are called sit on top yaks..there are at least a dozen brands available from 300/800 bucks..some have bigger hatches..some have built in handles for carrying...it all boils down to personal preference...the 2.7 long yaks are great for creeks dams rivers..but..i have felt very uneasy in choppy conditions on the local lakes...if I was to do any fishing in the ocean I would buy a longer craft designed for open water..i luv my yaks but...they have limits.and so do I...saying that its probably one of the best things ive ever bought..no rego.no lights.no wheel bearings..bugger all maintenance.easy to use..i would say you cant go wrong getting one...rick

its a style of screen made from ply and fiberglass or alloy to replace a normal glass or Perspex windscreen on boats for fishos or spearos that may want to shoot bars or push a boat faster than normal at sea and maybe take a wave over the bow..the [wavebreaker] design is stronger so the screen doesn't collapse with a few hundred litres of water hitting it...I took a greenie over the bow on our first morning at Minnie waters a few years back..smashed my screen snapped off my sounder bracket and dumped bout 400 ltrs of water into boat...not good..and it came out of nowhere and I wasn't pushing it..we went into grafton that arvo.bought a sheet of ply and a jigsaw..we had battery drills..and made one to last rest of trip..foto above is permanent replacement...seadevils and the like are 17 haines hulls with a solid wavebreaker screen...preferred by spearos...milligan nippers vseas like mine and a few other cuddys are designed with a bow shape that sheds water if one buries the bow accidently...hope this description helps clarify term wavebreaker...foto is of original screen...rick

we usually run on both while travelling.then turn back to one while sitting..that way if that battery loses too much power to turn motor turn on second battery and your right to go..rick
