over sand hitting bottom works well for flatties...over weed or rock is expensive hitting bottom with lures snagging...you have to suit your lures to your water depth...you can also slow your retrieve and raise your rod to keep off bottom..rick

I get noise from the actual hayman reese hitch moving in the towbar..nylon shims helped..rick

you can always go to a short double then when you join your trace to doubled braid may stop your problem...rick

how old are the coupling and ball..metal on metal wears..also how much weight is on the ball...rick

blue eye on light gear is a mighty challenge jon..hope you can pull it off ..I got one on 24kg braid on an eggbeater at browns mtn..only dropped once..460mtrs is a long wind il stick to my electric..rick

mate port stephens would be the choice of venue..heaps of reef everywhere..Swansea is virtual desert for reef till you hit 90mtrs..terrigal is pretty good with reef territory to the south and north..the water should come good in the next two weeks then you should be able to chase a few...where are you from in the newy area..rick

if the coudas are there the water must be very cold on the bottom....this colder patch from forster to down below Sydney needs to dissipate before we start getting better results up here...rick

first genuine igfa legal thousand pd blue in Australian waters...1089 lbs on 60kg line ..pending record claims on 60kg and all tackle...caught during tournament....all legitimate capture apparently with lots of video of capture to come from anglers missus...cant wait to see it...im chuffed for them I lost one at boatside in 2008 gold coast blue marlin classic estimated 450 kg plus..it broke the wire in the hook set and snapped a 14/0 hook in half..it was tagged but escaped while the boys were trying to get the gaffs out...rookie crew mistake..i had it at the boat in twenty mins on 60kg and it was a tad green...congrats to eddy lawler hes a great skipper and marlin fisho...rick
