  1. Awesome post and some amazing tales there...the jew capture is a classic!
  2. Hi Neil I use a paternoster rig in deeper water with a sinker to make sure the bait gets down the bottom in a current. Other wise in shallower water an appropriate sized ball sinker to a trace of 50-80mm of 20 lb trace.
  3. That is a cracking bag for a public holiday Mass! What bait/ lures did the damage?
  4. Awesome result as usual Scratchie! The early starts are doing the job:)
  5. Bought the prawns from a bait shop in Beverly Hills😉 Any sand flat in the Hacking has a million of the poddies at this time of year!
  6. Collected some poddies yesterday arvo ready for a bash in the Georges this morning. Launched at Kurnell about 8:30am and tried for some squid but the water still seems a bit murky. Tried a favourite spot for nada and decided to head to a spot I have fished from the shore. Over the next hour or so I picked up four flatties, two in the 50s. Dropped a couple more after some solid takes. As the tide turned I headed up the river to a couple of deep water spots to no avail but tried another drop-off and picked up three more fish with a small area. Headed back to a couple of deep water spots for the last of the run out but not much action so back to the first spot and lost a couple more in between a few undersized plastic caught flatties, one which was followed up to the surface by a fish twice its size. Absolutely beautiful day weather-wise and ended up with a great feed which was filleted into three family meals of tasty fillets! No more fishing for a while as I'm back to work next week:(
  7. Water was still pretty murky for the Hacking and the morning was cool but overall beautiful fishing weather:) Yowie's mat usually looks like a seafood platter! I'd like to have his results on a consistent basis:) I bet the Murray is flowing well! Hope you get a cod or something else on your list! You can always catch yabbies:) I'm sure you'll getyour usual feed next week!!
  8. Got myself organised yesterday collecting poddies and picking up some live prawns for an early bash this morning. Headed out before sun up to a cool breeze and trolled poddies in the deep water up near Yowie Bay. Salmon were busting up big time and a few other boats got stuck into them with various lures. My first fish of the day was a shovel nose ray on a live prawn! Soon after a legal flounder smashed one of the poddies. The flatty and tailor followed came on board, both on poddies. I lost a coupe of good fish on the live prawns in the deep and got a glimpse of a rat king that spat the hook. Picked my wife up around 10am for a cruise around then threw a few prawns at the boats on one of the marinas, picking up a nice bream and a small whiting. Lost what I thought was a big bream and all went quiet. Headed over to Maianbar with the last few prawns and picked up a couple of sub legal whiting. When I ran our of prawns I through a hardbody at the weed edges and was smashed by the bigger whiting. Happy with a nice mixed feed and headed in around 1pm. Beautiful day on the water and the tools in tinnies & jet skis kept to themselves. Looking forward to a nice feed af fillets later this week:)
  9. Nice work, those lures work well in the shallows!
  10. Nice work...those bream are corkers!
  11. Top pics and fish Jeff! Nothing better than getting a good Friday feed....keeps everyone happy! Well deserved sponsorship too!
  12. That photo is priceless...gotta love a few ales and one last cast:)
  13. Yowie I haven't caught a decent flatty since 2020! I'm still trying to work out the Hacking and most trips have been in gentlemen's hours or during high traffic. I'll give it another crack after Easter while I'm on hols:) Might be right Ribs, some of the big flatties might be out on the beaches! Good luck up at Stockton! Kingy, it was magical to be out on the water and the scream of the reel was a bonus:)
  14. I've always tried to get out on the water on Good Friday and had a window of a few hours after lunch. Decided to head up the Hacking and collected a few good sized poddies then headed all the way up to the Audley weir bouncing poddies on the bottom back downstream in the hope of a flatty or two. Water was pretty coloured up that far. Not a touch in a kilometre of drifting so headed around to the deeper water off Lilli Pilli and was slammed by a 58cm rat that went pretty hard. Speared it back in and headed home stopping for a 5 minute troll and another rat about the same size came on board (note the size of the poddy in the net). Beautiful arvo out and good to at least see some action. Lucky I had a couple of lobsters in the fridge ready for a Good Friday dinner!
  15. Great work, Good Friday fillets and double always makes it special!
  16. That is insane....must be a record!! And it lives to join the mullet run up the coast🙂 But there was a few big jews cruising beneath😉
