  1. So pulled cable out bloody thing seized $120 for a new one not to bad but hopefully lasts longer. now just the weather needs to clear
  2. Yeah just waiting for rain to stop
  3. Thanks all will see what it is when rain stops just bloody annoying but that's what's happens when you have old stuff
  4. Yeah Noel I can't see any reason why this has happened that's why I'm thinking helm end just have to wait for rain to stop so I can look at it
  5. No it's mechanical boat is over 40 years old not about to put hydraulic steering on it and only a 4.5 metre
  6. As I asked before does the helm need greasing I don't think so but maybe wrong
  7. Yeah motor moves fine it's actually a twin 40 setup I disconnected 2nd one to make it easier to move I'm in Sydney and it's pissing down so can't do much.only checked it because last time I went out (about 2 months ago bloody covid) it was stiff and had to disconnect 2nd motor to free it up.
  8. As above steering has seized it's mechanical type was replaced roughly 2 years ago cable and helm can't believe it's gone again .waiting for rain to stop to pull it apart. Does the helm unit need greasing or oiling?
  9. Havnt tried that many species but favourite is flathead bream 2nd snapper good in smaller sizes(Still waiting to catch a big one) whiting is good tailor on bbq is nice leather jackets are great but seem to carry parasites more than most which can be a turn off but nice sweet meat and calamari is yummo
  10. I just remembered reading about something called west systems I think it is I'm not sure but I think it was a pourable resin kind of thing you pour into transom try googling it my memory isn't great
  11. Hey pickles I replaced transom on my Yalta I done it from the outside as the fibreglass was badly damaged it is a big job but there is plenty of info out there I'm a carpenter so woodwork was no problem but had never done any glass work or spray painting before and while the finish isn't as good as a pro would do I have complete faith in the strength of it oh it was done about 8 years ago if his handy there's no reason why not I also replaced floor 5 years ago but stringers were ok so an easy job. Fibreglass is shit to do though
  12. Sorry to hear you paid$1000 for nothing finding someone good and who you can trust isn't easy as Duncan said post what is wrong someone may have an answer
  13. Hey Dave I may have to buy your au I can put a mask on it
  14. Mitsubishi called me back about pricing sounds good but no delivery till maybe February not good my mechanic has put a head gasket Sealer into the old Ute have to drive it for a week and take it back to him he says if it seals it should be good for a fair while I'm hoping it works but will take a bit for me to be confident in it.i like the old girl but thought of new one was nice.2nd handprices are crazy a few dual cabs with over 300000 km their asking over $20000
  15. That was a shit ramp at Gosford had a big hole at bottom I've never had a problem with traction
  16. Will ask how much for 4x4 but I probably used it once at a ramp bi
  17. Looking at single cab triton around $32000 I don't no where that car guide thing came from wish that was price
  18. Thanks everyone feel confident it will do.the triton I've had for about 14 yrs same boat for about 24yeah I get my monies worth
  19. Plenty of grunt those Aussie sedans shame to see them go value for bucks was great
  20. Hey fab that is my main concern I don't want to spend on what I don't need so trying to make sure a single cab will work.i normally launch at parsley bay so it's well maintained.i was posting a week or so ago about prices of new outboard and car crapped itself so a large expense was not what I was expecting. 1 company is doing 10 yrs warranty and 10 yrs capped servicing is attractive as I hold onto my things
  21. And sorry Dave your falcon is pretty
  22. I grew up in heyday of ford and Holden would love to have kept some of them but rust and reliability wasn't great
  23. The Ford's were good but they really hit the au with the ugly stick
  24. The triton has been the most reliable car I've had but 360000km and blown head gasket and maybe more not really worth repairing oh 2003 model
