  1. When my daughter was about 15 she asked me in the morning why I hadn't taken boat out I told her it was too windy she asked how I knew told her to look at the trees getting blown around her reply was there no trees on the water
  2. Windybanks closed around 5 yrs ago I go to one at pennant hills and castle hill rd I have no problem recommending them
  3. Well done half the battle with kings is getting the right bait so you got that sorted for the day. Always a hard toss up bait or dinner with squid at least you have a starting point for next time cheers
  4. I wouldn't be able to eat anything I seen with something like that
  5. Hey pickles do you target kingfish in broken bay pittwater can't say I've caught more than a few. Seen your other post where you targeted them at trawlers will have to give there a go
  6. Was out there yesterday I don't normally try there too much as havnt had much luck saying that I've got kingies and ok snapper but that was last season. If your boat is able and conditions ok try out at 40_50 mtrs deep and should get flathead at least something to take home I have better luck in pittwater if conditions no good for outside I picked up a few small snapper and usual rock cod at barrenjoey yesterday but don't really rate it
  7. Hi reasonably late start for me not sure about weather so brooklyn at around 6am parking already 95 % gone. Poor bigger next to me on ramp boat already tied up his old pajero won't start I hope he got sorted would have been a nightmare for bloke at busiest time of year. Headed out past barrenjoey to try for my usual blue spots fairly big swell but not too bad.tried for about 1 1/2 hours but swell not getting better and drifting way too fast. Did get a few undersized and busted off by something good (only 20 pound paternoster).Ok head back into pittwater see if I can get some squid caught 2 small ones on white jigs will keep for bait.i have a twin setup and 1 motor kept turning prop over when turned off when I looked a bit later 1 of linkages had come off love having to fix shit on the water. Got a big flounder for elderly friend than started winding in thinking another flounder or small flathead (Got a few but even if legal I prefer 50_60 cm) not much fight get to the boat what I think is a shovelnose shark a bloody flathead around a mtr.this would be second ive caught around mtr Mark but didn't land this 1 she spat hook at boat I would have loved a photo but would have let her go anyway but made an ordinary day 1 to remember
  8. Merry Xmas all I'm wondering if anyone has had any success with squid around the car ferry and marina
  9. Agree with yowie too many things can go wrong offshore wait till they're older one bad day can put them off for life
  10. Hi to me it's not just about if they can handle the conditions it's also keeping them amused saying that I wouldn't have taken mine offshore when they were young I just wouldn't risk their safety.m My wife and daughters hate boating/fishing so now I get to spend quality alone time
  11. Hi all on water around 5 am from brooklyn not busy but who knows what next week will bring headed out past barrenjoey lighthouse to try 40 mtr (Thanks pickles) pouring down rain and rough as so I stopped short tried a few drops and waited for rain to clear only undersized flatter. Cleared up enough to go out further and picked up 5 keepers before it got too rough again. Back to pittwater for a few squid (yummo) and a good size flounder for a neighbor. Water police checked gear and said I was only 1 with any luck merry Xmas
  12. Good to hear I normally start at 50mtr Mark will try in closer can't beat a feed of blue spots and as a bonus they freeze well
  13. Waiting to hear your report pickles hoping to get out 40mtr Mark Thu or Fri good luck
  14. Got home and checked old cheeseblocks manufacture date 2016 in good condition they don't expire do they.i only replaced all mine as 2 weeks ago getting boat ready old inflatable was inflated I knew I had two foam jobs in the boat and another in garage the one in garage looked ok until I pulled on 1 of the straps and it fell apart had been out of the sun so shows you need to inspect regularly, i self service inflatable every 6 months but don't even think about the foam ones need too check more often
  15. The reason for the inflatable is comfort I'm in a 15-16ft boat so I'm borderline on having to wear 1 all the time solo.and yes if there's passengers I'm sure we can work out putting the cheeseblocks on
  16. Have just looked up rms website again I read it wrong level 100 are ok
  17. It was only after they were delivered I looked up the level guide and realised they should have been 150 will check ones I have in boat tonight and see what they are. Inflatable is for solo use and I don't normally take anyone else
  18. Yeah I no it's probably been answered but here we go I have just got a new 150 inflatable jacket for using when I'm solo also got 2 new of the old style yellow foam ones that say level 100 for passengers are they ok for offshore about 5km cheers and merry Xmas
