  1. I would say the gear you are using is too heavy, the lighter it is the easier to use and the more enjoyable it will be. I use a 2 - 4kg Shimano Raider rod fitted with a Shimano Sedona 1000 and 6lb braid, 1m of 8lb mono as a leader. Keeping it as light as possible will allow you to cast further and more accurately which will result in more fish. Caught plenty of flatties on this combo right up to 76cm.
  2. Unfortunately some people won't listen to the warnings. Last night at North Narrabeen pool there were 3 blokes flicking soft plastics from the rocks. None had lifejackets on and they were wearing thongs while the waves were washing up to just above their ankles.
  3. Used to fish there a lot when my in laws lived at Broulee. I always used to fish near the northern end of Moruya airport runway. There is a 4WD track running off the mainroad and you drive past the end of runway and fish the beach there. If you don't have a 4WD just park on George Bass Drive and walk in, it is only 5 - 10 mins.
  4. Well done boys. Would be interesting to find out what caused it to sink.
  5. Try varying the spread of your retrieve with each cast.
  6. Try off the commercial wharf on the Forster side.
  7. The opening has really turned the fishing up a notch the last few days. Now it's been a couple of days and more importantly tides since opening things will probably settle down and go back to it's normal fishing the drop off's and eddy's. BTW nice couple of fish. Love the color, they are almost black especially the one on the left.
  8. 1.1kg of fillets, absolutely stocked.
  9. Tried poppers but never had any luck, need to do some more work with them.
  10. Lockdown has it positives in that there are very few people fishing. The Lake seems to be fishing really well at the moment, which is great considering we can't go anywhere.
  11. My location is the giveaway, it was opened up to the sea yesterday with a big flood pouring out the opening.
  12. Went for a lockdown fish this afternoon and the whiting came to the party. Was getting a fish every cast, kept 6 all over 40cm, threw back 15 to 20 that were all well over legal size.
  13. It's actually North from Batemans bay.
  14. At last us Upper Northern Beachener's can get out for a fish. https://www.nsw.gov.au/media-releases/update-on-restrictions-for-christmas-2020-period?fbclid=IwAR0sNbYerq0HT-p4JlTjy0jlapTPsMK3B5Ye2eTyPVwXyPO04RDdoyPQNSQ
  15. Can you provide a site with a link to confirm this.

  17. Here is the restrictions for our area. https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/news/Pages/20201219_03.aspx Last lockdown fishing was classified as passive exercise and was permitted.
  18. There is only one Council, no point ringing them they don't enforce Health orders.
  19. I have tried finding out but can't find the answer. One would assume so, but heard on the news the other people have been asked pack up and go home. Not sure whether or not not they were locals or where they were from. Gladys did say the restrictions were the same as we had in March.
  20. It will keep the battery topped up when not in use and prevent it from self discharging.
  21. Just get a 10W panel to trickle charge, no regulator required with such a small panel.
  22. Just about o buy a VHF radio and can't seem to find the specs (db gain in particular) on either the Uniden or GME aerials. I'm stuck between getting either a 1.2m or 1.8m aerial. It will be mounted on the outside of my side console itself. Preferably I will go the 1.2m size. I know in theory the longer the aerial the greater range but his doesn't seem the case as each brand of aerial seems to be constructed differently internally even for the same length. A 1.2m would also allow my to easily manouver a rod over it. Does anyone have any comments on VHF aerials, either brands or lengths.
  23. Happy with my Minn Kota Terrova on my 4.6 Renegade. Spend the extra and get Terrova which has the built in GPS with spot lock. Have never used the anchor while out fishing, it is a god send.
