  1. Im not sure where you are located but typically you shouldnt have to travel that far for bream. Your local salt water estuary should hold plenty of bream. Try to fish within 2 hours of the high tide, run in tide or run out. Its not essential but given you are landbased you will have more accessibility to more fish. Usually the bream will move out to deeper water on the low tide.
  2. Plenty of salmon around in the bays lately. Im finding they are focused on the jelly prawns, small soft plastics are doing well on them.
  3. Arrows are generally a lot "softer" I have the 270SUL (2 piece 7ft ultra light) it is more of a medium action. Good all rounder but its not my go-to for soft plastics. It will absorb lunges and headshakes really well. The Zodias in the light is a bit of a faster action and the medium light faster still. It feels more premium in the hand. If you are new to the hobby you cant go wrong with the arrows, zodias or infeet range as others have mentioned. The shimano raider are also a good starting point. It really comes down to your budget, and brand preference.
  4. I dont find metals as effective in slower moving water throughout estuarys, the tailor seems to be more chill in low flow. Surface lures all the way, sugapens, poppers, splashprawns. Morning or Sundown is best, if there are tailor around and you work a surface lures they will hit it. Highflow, whitecaps and plenty of bustups, metals all the way. Just drag it through the school and you will be on everytime.
  5. I always use mono backing on my reels. On my smaller reels (1000 to 2500) ill buy 150 meters or yards of braid. You will rarely use 60 percent of it, and its much more cost effective. There is also a handy app called line calc which you can use to get a good idea of how much mono backing you will need to spool your reel with before adding the remaining braid you have. Mono helps the line grip the spool, I use an FG knot to link the mono to the braid. (Its thin enough that it doesnt create humps on the spool) Another good practice is to "flip" your braid once the outside is faided and starts to lose its waxy coating. You will get double the lifespan out of it by doing this.
  6. I use the spashprawn with a "twitch twitch pause" motion rather than a constant retrieve. The tail will create a fountain like spray when worked in this manner. And really does resemble a darting/fleeing prawn.
  7. Sure mate, names Adam. Im assuming you smash some quality murray cod in the Murrumbidgee River? That species is on my bucket list.
  8. Yep couldnt have said it better. People find out the spots and hammer it, you come there next time and there is 10 people lining the bank. Thats actually happened to me before.
  9. Hey mate, I post the gear im using in the summary section under the videos on youtube, however as Neil suggested Im happy to go over it in my videos. Its a Zodias 4-8lb with 6lb braid and 6lb berkley vanish leader although Im sure I could have easily gone up to 10lb in that dark tannen water and it wouldnt have mattered. 4lb is too risky in my opinion theres so much larger bycatch around and you never know whats gonna hit the lure. I got busted off on Sunday by a big bream under ryde bridge on 6lb so yeah I wouldnt go lower than that.
  10. Thanks for the kind words. Appreciate the suggestions, happy to share more info on the gear Im using moving forward. In relation to the locations, I started fishing the parra a lot as Im a local, the system is highly pressured, by pollution and rubbish, so good land based spots are hard to come by. Most of them are trashed with leftover bait bags etc. So yeah I stopped naming spots pretty early on. A mate actually told me about this location so I didn't wanna name drop it on YouTube, some people get shitty. Most people figure it out anyway. Im 40 now so definitely not a spring chicken, although gym and eating well helps 👌
  11. Hi Guys One of my trips from the weekend, hope you like the footage. Cheers
  12. You would pay more than this for a fishing cap and a brag mat, and the mat alone looks better than most. Not to mention its for a good cause and who doesnt like a good competition!
  13. Yeah, I have no issues with launching from there. I just thought it was a bit odd to only have one spot listed when its such a huge system. I knew there must be more. Had an inbox with some good tips. So thanks again guys.
  14. Hi Guys Looking to take the yak out over the weekend to hit up some bass (I have bass fever at the moment) I can see the boat ramp at Tench reserve but not a lot else.... This part of the river looks really wide and busy, I was hoping for some skinnier water but the kayak I have isnt small (Passport 12) so I kind of need a ramp. Is this the only boat ramp there is in that area? I fish south creek windsor last weekend but theres wasnt much action so Im hoping the nepean can produce. I appreciate some people may not want to give out there spots, Im just looking for some general guidance, any other places I can launch from?
  15. The organic matter is fallen trees, leaf litter, branches etc. When it washes into the river it will slowly decompose (This takes time, (weeks/months) which would explain why it happened after we got like 3 weeks of consecutive rain. This will explain the process better than I can - https://www.industry.nsw.gov.au/water/allocations-availability/droughts-floods/drought-update/managing-drought-recovery/blackwater "Hypoxic blackwater ‘Blackwater’ is a term used when high levels of organic material and tannins in a river discolour the water making it appear black. The water can then become hypoxic (low oxygen) when the material decomposes reducing the oxygen in the water. Blackwater events occur during flooding when organic material is washed off the river bank and floodplain and into the river system." I know people wanna blame the warehouses along the river or some dirtbags that dumped some toxic liquid, and to be fair the river does have heaps of floating trash. Its a joke, but events like this arent uncommon and the fact that they predicted an event like this after all of that rain, further cements my belief that there findings are valid. Not to mention its literally there job to get to the bottom of this.
  16. Official results from the EPA indicate natural causes - https://t.co/6XdGPXwAAY
  17. Just fyi this hasnt just affected the parra end. Im a regular on the parra and have seen many dead fish all the way up to Wentworth point. I also know of people who have seen many on the meadowbank side. Although the large numbers do seem to be at the parra end. For those that are wondering low oxygen levels can be due to excessive algae growth and decaying plant matter, So although there is heaps of rubbish on the banks its not the only cause for this. It could be natural. On the plus side I havent seen a single dead jewfish or anything bigger than say 45cms. This leads me to believe its main area of effect is the banks where the smaller fish live. (Im no expert though) I tell you what though I had no idea there was that many blackfish all the way up at Rydalmere, If I had known I may have chucked some cabbage on a hook. I wont be fishing my local for a while, these fish need time to replenish. What a huge blow.
  18. Casting out a camera! What a great Idea. Awesome insight mate.
  19. I have a kayak and Im interested. Ill inbox you
  20. Saw a few salmon when I first arrived but they weren't really fired up so when the tailor started going nuts I targeted them with metals. If you are squeemish maybe skip the first 3 mins as I managed to hook myself.
  21. I got one (trev) at 45cm just around the corner from there, yeah they definitely test the light gear. I lost one about 50cm at my feet which was pretty devastating. It was this time last year so spot on as far as timing goes. They love the warmer water for sure. Tricky to target them specifically, you will sift through a lot of bream and flatties before you get another one.
  22. As long as Im not on the yak again I don't mind lol. Curious to know what gear I would need to target them on the kayak though? (Bait, type of wire trace etc) I don't anchor my kayak so keeping the bait in one spot for then may be tricky. Ill give it a go if anyone has some tips for me?
  23. Pretty self explanatory title guys, Im sure if you are on social media you would have seen how active the harbour has been over the last week or so. This was just a quick session, they came as fast as they were gone. Anyway hope you enjoy the footage.
  24. I have put many hours through the vanford 2500 and the Stradic FL 2500 and I can honestly say the stradic FL feels like a higher quality reel at a lower price point. The vanford is definitley lighter but it also feels and looks cheaper. Theres even a visible assembly seem down the middle of the reel on the vanford. I dunno to me it just doesnt feel like it warrants the price point. But thats just my personal opinion.
