  1. Hi guys and girls, I was wondering what weather app everyone used to plan a days boating/ fishing. right now I use willy weather- I live in Dee Why and usually fish around broken bay etc. Saturday Dee Why showed a 3m swell, which it was, but once past the breakers it looked flat as a tack..... I would have quite easily gone out through Pittwater and got to some flat water. so I ask, am I using the app wrong, is there a location I can use to see the swell out a bit wider?
  2. I can't wait fo the day any son out fishes me, he's only a year old so I may have some time up my sleeve....but im a poor fisherman, so who knows great catch though mate.
  3. id definitely be looking at the fuel filter as my first check.... then go from there.
  4. yeh for sure, but you can look at the general comments and if they all say the same thing its probably not just a whinger
  5. without our peers reviewing them, how would we know if the product is any good or not? surely when you stay at a hotel, the first thing you do is look up what other peoples experiences are? same with when trying a new restaurant? maybe im the new generation who wants the info instantly to help sway my choice.... in the old days I guess the version of a review was some old bloke (or girl) at the pub saying "don't buy that, my neighbours sister got one and had nothing but problems"
  6. had one on an old boat, made it awful in a following sea.... id be looking at other fixes (proper ones) before adding a bolt on cheapie to an expensive motor.
  7. my back and knees.... while they are the same age as the rest of my body which I use for fishing, they definitely feel the oldest.
  8. 100% you were in the right mate, after the video going around of the "Karen" giving a member on here a spray or doing something totally legal and within his rights, you have plonkers like this guy who decided it was too hard to free the bird so he just let it die. its jerks like this that give us a bad name..... in reality fishos, hunters etc, need to work 3 times as hard to keep their image clean, cos 1 tiny slip up and it comes crashing down. well done on giving them a serve, id have backed you 100%
  9. great catch mate, im actually looking to get into the harbour on Saturday for the first time in years, usually fish out of Pittwater and out to broken bay...but with it being in the north zone of the beaches I can't put in at Bayview atm. fingers crossed we can get on a few, taking a mate out who have never been fishing before..... what 37 year old has never been fishing before ?!?!
  10. very well handled by the fisho, some people seriously have way too much time on their hands. I owed love to hear the conversation with the police, they probably would have laughed at her.
  11. stay safe everyone, I live on the beaches an the timing couldn't have been worse- but, what do you do right. had the test done, came back negative, so now we just lock ourselves indoors till it passes. on the plus side, I get to enjoy time with my 1 year old son, which I wouldn't other wise get- so trying to look at the silver lining.
  12. looks like sea lice? I don't think they're harmful to us..... but I wouldn't be eating them like they're tic tacs
  13. I thought any trailer was essentially a drive on, so long as you got the centre rollers on the keel? why wouldn't a roller trailer be drive on?
  14. trial and error mate, usually I start with the front lower lip of the wheel arches under water and go from there. I don't like getting the cars wheels in the water, and you don't want to totally float the boat off.... id go to the ramp you would most use at a quiet time and practice and work out what is best for your setup.
  15. I was very tempted to get out this weekend, but then realised that I needed to get new batteries for the boat. id much rather be on the water thinking about god.... than the other way around haha.
  16. the biggest went 62cm, the smallest we kept was 41cm.... we got heaps of other legal ones, but threw lots back too
  17. first report here guys, me and 2 mates decided that the weather was looking good on Sunday, so we would hit the water early, and get the new (to me) boat out and try and get a feed of fish. mate number 3 decided to hurt his back the night before, so didn't make it, so it was just the 2 of us. got to the ramp at Bayview at 630 and hit the water for an uneventful run out, decided to try a few marks that a mate of mine from work gave me, which managed to get us a red rock cod and a sargent baker..... not the start we were hoping for...but fish nonetheless- the baker went back. we figured it was a flat day and we were safe to push out further, so we went to the 40m mark with nothing.... this was turning out to be another day on the boat with nothing to show for it. we pushed out to the 50m mark, and bang, it was on.... every drop coming up with a fish. we figured that we were only going to keep what we needed for immediate consumption (im not a fan of freezing any fish), after about 2 hours, we had caught enough so headed back in to Pittwater to clean our catch. all was going well, logged off with marine rescue and went to start the boat- nothing, dead, zilch..... s&@t.... I have a 2nd battery on the boat but it isn't wired up, thankfully when I bought the boat I put a set of jumper leads in meh safety bag, so we jump started it and made our way back to the ramp. cleaned up and had fresh flattie for dinner- made some up as sashimi, and the rest as fish tacos, which my 1 year old loved. jobs for this month are 2 new batteries, and a dual battery switching set up.. a great day, spent with a good mate, sharing laughs and some good fish to top it off....
  18. awesome report as always Zoran, I've read that there are 2 fads in close proximity for syd north. were hoping to get out of Pittwater this weekend, so will keep an eye out if the weather gods play ball and allow us out to the FAD. tight lines.
  19. make sure you write a seperate receipt for the trailer, I recently bought a boat from Melb, and didn't get a receipt for the trailer... the rms had a field day with me- countless calls and texts to the seller finally got me what I was after.
  20. def look at quad lock.. have had them on bikes, cars and boats- can even have wireless charging functions.
  21. ramps are a funny old place. if you aren't confident, there's an army of people usually around who would be willing to give a helping hand. I helped an older guy a few weeks ago get his boat on his trailer, he was with his partner and disabled son, he was very appreciative and even tried to give me a 6 pack.
  22. if time and money were no object, id start in South Australia going after big snapper then head to 1770 for some reef fishing then do a live aboard charter chasing game fish. by then international travel should be open, and id cap it off with a fishing and hunting trip to NZ chasing deer in the south, and high kings at the ranfurely banks.
  23. put the boat at the front of the house?
