  1. Did you have a look at the table from the DPI I showed you. I have seen people taking leather jacket and bream from there.
  2. Hi, I'm going to be at kooindah waters in central coast for a few days in late June (school holidays) and am looking for company/ someone to help. I'm hoping to target jewfish and sharks in the surf. I have my own set ups, 1 spin and 1 over head. Also I don't have a kyak, I was planning on ballooning baits out or casting. I'm not sure how much I can travel sine I'm only on my L plates but I'm hopping to get around to the north entrance beach. Preferably night but early morning works to. I don't have any shark baits left in my freezer but I'm happy to buy bait. If anyone is interested pls PM me or leave a comment we can work out times at a later date, also if you could recommend spots that would be greatly appreciated. I'm really keen to land my first jewfish or gain some more experience with sharks and come home with all my fingers lol.
  3. If its not to far try berrowra waters and go up river to the ship wreck and there are some big crabs in there. Pots get pinched/ emptied so either keep an eye on them or drop them when its dark and come back early morning. Finding them on foot is hard in mangroves. Me and 2 friends on a duke of ed camp (school camp) went in the mangroves for some, saw a huge one then we all got stuck waist deep in mud. You can try looking under little rock caves or wade around at low tide. I have see crabs at Wisemans ferry but wasn't really interested in messing with them again lol goodluck, try some of those smaller creeks
  4. can't rember which ferry warf but the squids were from pier 8. https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fishing/recreational/fishing-skills/fishing-in-sydney-harbour#:~:text=Recreational fishing in the Harbour, and other connected tidal waterways.&text=No fish or crustaceans caught,Harbour Bridge should be eaten.
  5. saw people getting squids. Also saw lots of people on the ferry wharfs around the time of the last ferries (10 pm or so)
  6. I think it's naval jelly or something I can find it in the morning but it removes rust.
  7. Just use some car degreaser. If you like the reel you can get a pack of nice bearings off eaby for pretty cheap
  8. All around the city. We stayed in the youth hostel and went to manly and Bondi and stuff like that
  9. Thats how i found out this is a good place. Actually found it during a school camp
  10. Yeah I have seen people catching things at milsons point and yes its under the bridge. Walsh is a pain with float, if there's any wind the line gets caught in others or the pylons. I think the videos must be filmed over multiple times. I have never seen anyone get anything decent there caught a nice bream, snapper, had a nice run (must have been a shark). Chicken breast is the best bait and use berly. Apparently live bait works the best but from experince and watching people you either get nothing or just the head of the bait. fresh yakka strips seem to work. try a live bait if you want i had big problems with birds when i tried. Goodluck
  11. Yes there are 10" soft plastics. Under the bridge I heard is good for salmon. Not sure don't think I have actually caught one.
  12. From personal experience and others I know lures don't work well off pier 8. Your better off going to blues Point reserve. When I was there in on Friday 16th a whole school of big kings just swam straight past live baits and lures. I have been trying lures everytime for anything off that pier but no luck. Blues Point is the only spot I have seen people catching kings on lures. When I went last time I saw this guy using the interesting float with a flat bottom and a rounded top a bit bigger than a 50 c coin and about 50 lbs leader catch the biggest bonito I have ever seen. Not sure what bait he was using (he didn't understand English).
  13. For small kings that should work well, bigger ones you want the same in the 10" version. For bonito your better off using a chrome lure (like the ones from kmart)
  14. For me I found constantly checking face book marketplace was good (cheap prices). The fathom, squall vsw 2 speed (i have the 50 vsw) or the TLD (i have used the 30A) are good. The backbone or the ocean assain are good. The penn carnage also has good reviews. Also I would probably go for a 24kg, its your choice but i have never had any issues with it. My friend uses the TLD 25 with the 24kg backbone for sharks (he was caught 8 ft bull sharks with it)
  15. Will do thanks. Need the driving hours to, to get my Ps
  16. Your better off using something like: Carls drag grease - for drags If its a penn Ht-100 drag i found that dry is better - use a strong de-greaser (I use one for cars) Other parts - reel lube or white lithium spray (its rust resistant) If your telescopic rod is stuck - silicon spray / ice Wd40 is good at removing water out of things it isn't a good lubricator
  17. The resin is that film/ kinda sticky thing they put over the blank right? what's the point of doing this? I thought it was to keep the thread for the guides together or is it to protect the blank from scratches?
  18. yeah anything really but its best to be prepared for big ones and at $250 it was hard to pass that. Surprised that a kmart rod would survive a shark though. The handle on the rod from big W came loose but I think this was a big shark that did that
  19. Ok, will have a look at that book. Wouldn't it be out of date though? They would be adding the signs around a bit
  20. That would be a real sign though because lines get stuck in the motors and its a pain. Also any tips on how to tell a real sign from a fake. There seem to be some pretty good fakes (not sure, they might be legitimate)
  21. Thanks for the help. Are you meaning the reel seat is graphite (type of carbon)?
  22. Looks like a great day. Good job, wish I could catch some flatties 5 or 6 years since my last one LOL I just can't seem to get them. catch everything els but flatties. Great feed. How do you cook them? I just use butter
