  1. Not yet haha, I'm planning for something big next year so all my income has been going towards saving up for that
  2. It's just a basic plastic rental kayak haha, I'm not old enough to hire the Sea kayaks so I don't think I'll be getting any kingies but there should be plenty of snapper in the bay
  3. Cheers mike, I'll read up and get myself familiar with the new zealand fish and game website 👍
  4. I just realised that there is a lake pupuke stocked with trout 😅, guess im bringing my 2500 and my 3000
  5. Hey All, I'll be visiting Auckland for a few days this holiday and I really want to bring a rod, I'll be living in a hotel right next to the water in the port area, this is my first time visiting the north island and 2nd time actually visiting new zealand, so I know nothing about fishing there. My current game plan is to bring a 3000 sized reel, and to hire a kayak in mission bay if i can fish there and drop either soft plastics grubs or bait. Could someone please help me out with general info like where I can fish and where I cannot? Thanks in advance, Albert
  6. Great little thing, was my entry bream reel
  7. Going up north is one of the things I’m planning to do at the end of the year holiday haha, can’t wait to throw some topwater lures in the gold coast canals or maybe go up to NT. Either that or I visit cooks island/ Christmas Island for GT 😎
  8. My mate eesh sold me all his stuff last week as he’s back in Cananda now and he gave me all his stuff so now I have his jigs, topwater(he’s got the big 120mm sugarpen) and a lot of topwater stuff as well- spinnerbaits and cranks
  9. Hey All, Picked up a new zodias rod at the boat show for my curado K 200HG and looking for some particular lure suggestions, the rod is rated 10-25lb braid and 10-35g lure weight which is perfect for what I'm doing, (a little bit of everything) I can do topwater, swimbaits, plastics, vibes , jigging off the kayak on both landbased and kayak as the rod is only 6 foot. I'm putting 20lb berkley x9 on the curado and going to be using 15-20lb mono leader depending on what type of lure I'll be throwing. Any general tips are greatly appreciated as this is the first time I'll properly get into using the curado. Cheers, Albert
  10. All daiwa lures have hook size on packaging and maybe website
  11. yeah the hooks and split rings on daiwa lures rust really easy, for split rings i'd use either bkk or decoy. For trebles I'd use gamakatsu or bkk
  12. correction* he doesn't sell them but its NW fishing secrets if you're interested (hopefully this doesn't go against fishraider rules)
  13. I watch an American fishing YouTuber whose signature lure he uses and sells is a 9mm round turned into a spinner, that thing is deadly on trout. Maybe make a .22 version?
  14. Just a little tip if you use google chrome to watch youtube you can download an extension that blocks ads on youtube and any other websites, keep in mind though that some websites such as articles and journals require you to disable it otherwise you cannot access the website. I'll refrain from putting the name up because of the fishraider forum rules but just pm me for a guide.
  15. i missed out on that opportunity a couple years back when I only fished bait. Was fishing middle harbor with prawns and pillies and a 1 metery shovel nose decided to eat my prawn, thought it was weed at first because of how heavy it was and it wasn't fighting much, didn't know they were good eating at the time and just let it go. At least I got a trev for a feed a couple minutes before the shovelnose.
  16. Should've started a diary long time ago as my mates leaving back to Canada for around 2 years to look at jobs, he's going to come back if the job market is worse than Australia as he has already been working as physio for good pay, but when he leaves I'm going to buy all his jigs off him and maybe then I'll start catching again
  17. Yeah Sydney harbour, it’s just so frustrating because my mate always catches a king when I’m not there
  18. Sorry for bothering you so much but do you know if there are any bonnies still up in the northern beaches e.g Avoca
  19. Yeah I’m going to be definitely walking the beach now that I’ve thought of it, I’ll pick up some 40-50 gram knight metals and straight retrieve all the way back
  20. Thanks for the info mate, my fishing has been pushed to Saturday so I’ll watch the report, if not I’ll either walk the beaches casting halco twisties or try jigging in the harbour again (I’ve been jigging for 6 hours for around 4-5 sessions and still haven’t caught anything 😢)
  21. Hey Raiders, Looking to target salmon in either lake Mac or off the Swansea break walls near Reid’s park, or anywhere doesn’t have to be up north either. I’ll be fishing land based and probably with either 5000size reel with 30lb mainline and rod to match or 3000 sized stradic with 10lb line and rod to match, I’ll probably be throwing halco twisties and maybe slow pitch jigs or some mullet that I’ve fillet up. I don’t have any experience with salmon and jigging for kingfish has been slow so i figured I’d get into some winter species. (my mate somehow catches kings whenever Im not there but it’s always a donut if I’m there) All info is appreciated cheers, Albert
  22. I’ve also had a fish drought as well, the usual flatties haven’t been appearing so I’ve just been targeting kings in the past few sessions
  23. Growing weed! A random search and the operation would be a bust
  24. Hey All, My parents have just bought a new smaller house for when they’re older. This house even though is heritage has a very high chance of being able to be taken down and rebuilt from scratch. The garage has a space next to it and I want to turn it into a room for storage of my kayak and fishing gear as my current storage is very messy and unorganised. Hopefully after being rebuilt I will also be able to house a saltwater pond for any species I bring back such as bream, flatties etc (legal of course) but I don’t know if I can have the pond outdoors. So I’ve come to you guys for any ideas of a storage room and pond ideas. Currently i don’t have a budget and want to go all out as we haven’t even a started planning and sketching out designs, so shoot me all your ideas.(I’ll be back later with more measurements) Cheers, Albert
