  1. That is a sand crab. 2 purple spots with the 5th leg being swim paddles. Where was the classic held? Regards Jeff
  2. Nice catch Trevor! The black fish have been on in the Hawkesbury as well. Patonga area ( can not tell you the exact spot, the boys would kill me )but I can tell you their all been taken on nippers and not weed. Regards Jeff
  3. Fish of a life time. That's what dreams are made off! Regards Jeff
  4. Opposite the old baths in the channel for some great bream catches. Use nippers, worms or mullet gut. Use a sounder to find the deep holes to fish of a night. Dusky flathead and whiting also taken drifting over the shallows. Regards Jeff
  5. That is right re the bass size. Bloody stupid if you ask me. They have signs up and have done for years at the Ferry at Lower Portland. Unless a fish is a bait fish there should be a size limit. Regards Jeff
  6. Sounds like you had a pretty good time. I fished a couple of Sundays ago and could not get 1 squid even though we fished 3 of our usual squid capture grounds. Had frozen squid on board but could only entice a couple of Banjo sharks to take them. Regards Jeff
  7. Volvo cars are just as bad. Try getting one serviced at a Volvo dealer, you will need to talk to your bank manager first. Regards Jeff
  8. As Juggs said it depends on the weight and also type off hull. You should have a plate on the boat with the recommended HP. If not google the boat and get the spec's. Always go for around the middle power range unless your going to be towing skiers tubes etc then go for the higher HP. If the boat gets up on the plane easy with a full payload then the 90 will be the right motor. Regards Jeff
  9. Mate did you get busted off or didn't you tie the leader to the braid properly? Big kings will separate the lines if there is the slightest weak spot. Regards Jeff
  10. Thanks for that info. I just ordered mine. Will be interesting to see what they have put together. Regards Jeff
  11. I was off Fishraider for a fair while because of computer faults and work. On returning I looked for the familiar people posting of which one was Byron. I knew he was sick and waiting for operations but didn't think it was this bad. There is a huge hole in the Fishraider family now that will never be filled. Mate if your up there looking down we are thinking of you and know that if its possible, you find away to keep chasing those Mulloway. Deepest Sympathy Jeff.
  12. Sorry to say mate but their nothing but toys. I bought one for the grand kids to play around on the dam and they got blown straight across the dam and the wind was not even that strong. Regards Jeff

    Question 1

Not unlike any other forms that the dopes put out. If you stuff up some sort of form there is no excuse and you get fined or what ever but when they do it then its a typographic error end of story. We pay these people. Regards Jeff
  14. Pretty bloody hard to id a fish without a photo! Description could be numerous fish. Regards Jeff
  15. I don't know if the bluebottle had anything to do with the first ones lack of fight as I think the sting has no effect on them. They are caught amongst swarms of bluebottles at times? Regards Jeff
  16. Agree with most that 90% squid. Hard to catch drifting you need to be anchored. I don't agree that they don't touch dead bait as I have caught big squid on bonito that has been salted down from previous trips. Regards Jeff
  17. I've fished the sow and pigs over the last 50 odd years and never caught a king there but have caught them around 50 meters to the north of the reef trolling. Regards Jeff
  18. Why would you waste one of the best baits in the ocean by eating it. Their great sport fish to catch on light gear and as far as eating quality goes I would rather eat a mcdonalds hamburger (If you can really demean the name hamburger by putting Mcdonalds in front of it ) and that's saying something! Regards Jeff
  19. Another stupid rule. We leave as many as 12 rods on board most of which are rigged for outside fishing and catching live bait on the way through. Normally we have 3 on board with the odd occasion of 4 anglers. There is never more than 3 rods set out unless fishing the bottom or for live bait. There is also about 6 hand lines which seldom get used but are rigged for catching yellow tail etc, which would put me over the limit. I'll keep fishing the way I have been for the last 50 odd years. In all the boat checks no one has even mentioned this stupid rule. The dropkicks that take undersize fish or fill their boat with fish when they encounter a school will not take any notice of rules like this anyway. Just like the gun laws take guns off the law abiding person so that the only ones running around with guns are the crim's. Makes it a little easier for them to come and steal, rape or kill your family if they know that you havn't a gun on the premises. Regards Jeff
  20. It's a bit away yet, 24th March. Top comp for a good cause. Regards Jeff
  21. Flathead can be found all over the area with the bigger ones around the sand flats at the north side of Ettalong beach. Parsley bay is a great ramp with good parking, toilets, cleaning tables, a pontoon wharf and it's free. Tailor if you can find them will be between Lion Island and West Head. Bonito ( has to be the best fresh bait you can get ) can be caught just about anywhere trolling close to the rocks outside the heads if around on that day. Good Luck Jeff
  22. It's bloody confusing. Why in hell would you be required to wear a life jacket when anchored up of a night . That's how it reads to me and I bet some msb/police will read it that way as well. You said they said they were recording the whole thing, don't be surprised if it's not to do with their new found tv star status. They all think their movie stars now. Lets hope they get back to policing the idiots who break the rules and there's plenty of them. Regards Jeff
  23. If there is 2 or more adults on board you don't have to wear the jacket just have one each in the boat. That rule was passed Nov 1 2010. I would not be paying the fine until you check out the rules, if they have changed then I will be getting fined as we never wear jackets on our 4m tinny when fishing 2 out! It doesn't really matter how good a swimmer you are there is always the chance that you will hit your head, get a cramp or something when you go over. I regards myself as a good swimmer and I always wear a jacket when alone. Regards Jeff
  24. There has been some good catch's of blue swimmers over the last couple of weeks with a few big muddies. I seen one guy who had a couple of blues but also had one of the biggest muddies I have seen for quite awhile, and he caught in a witches hat. Nice bloke told me where he had the trap set so I will be putting a mud crab trap there one day this week, hoping that there is another one in that area. Regards Jeff
