  1. Looks like you had a great time getting amongst them. The flatty your mother caught is certainly a beauty but the 47cm bass is the catch of your holiday. ( That's only my opinion as I'm a little bias towards sport fish ) Regards Jeff
  2. Nice colour rod. I hope that was the young girls and not yours! Regards Jeff
  3. If that's what happens when you hook onto a angry marlin I think I'll keep to the bread and butter fish. Regards Jeff
  4. If you put in at Brooklyn go around to Bar point. On the opposite side to the point is a good reliable spot. Make sure you use fresh mullet. If you are in Pittwater try Coasters Retreat opposite Soldiers Point. Good luck. Regards Jeff
  5. Your logic is right Skakeel. Except for one thing all big Flathead are female and prolific breeders ensuring there are plenty of table size fish for you and me to catch and eat. If you can tell a female fish from a male fish of another type then release her too. Regards Jeff
  6. No offence but if those mullet swam away I will swim to New Zealand and back. Regards Jeff
  7. That looks awesome! What are the measurements of the tank? Regards Jeff
  8. Put in at Parsley Bay this morning to chase Kings along the coast but the wind and chop put paid to that. Decided to drift from Barrenjoey to Lion island for Lizards but the drift was to quick Next on the list was a drift from Flint & Steel to Lion Island resulting in 1 Trev and 3 Flounder. The biggest was 39cm but the second biggest was 34 cm and outclassed the big fellow by 200grams. There was numerious schools of salmon and tailor breaking surface all over The Bay. Regards Jeff
  9. This is what I am greeted with every morning. No wild parties.no screaming just a pleasure to share my piece of paradise with. Regards Jeff
  10. Nice blues. How did you get the girls to hold them? The little one on the right looks a bit apprehensive though! Good job girls. Regards Jeff
  11. When you decide to take your first ticket in a lottery let me know and I will go you halves. Regards Jeff
  12. You were probably lucky to get the one. Try using fresh mullet with proper witch's hats. ( their cheap ) There is a lot going on with the use of traps at the moment and if everything is not conventional you will get fined. The high tides at the moment are playing hell with crabs and prawns in the system. Regards Jeff
  13. I always go by a rod length as when the leader is at the first runner I know I can either lift the fish in, net or gaff him. Regards Jeff
  14. There are so many idiots out there that wouldn't have a clue when it comes to fishing. They think that they can drive their boat right on top of a boil and the fish will just swarm all around them. The only good thing about these clowns is they don't catch anything except a mouthful. Good to hear you and the boys had a good time anyway. Regards Jeff
  15. Good lizard mate. Regards Jeff
  16. The bloke is a cheat and a criminal. It's not just about the racing it's also about the millions of dollars he has received because he's a lying cheat! He should get jail time and all his assets seized and sold off and the money given to the charity he was supposed to be promoting. Before anyone says that his wife and family will suffer remember they have been living the high life on his ill gotten gains and no one can tell me that his wife didn't know what he was doing. Regards Jeff
  17. I have a 4.5m dehaviland which I use for inside fishing and close offshore. Last outing our mariner decided to stop for no reason that we could find right in the channel under spit bridge. It took about 30minutes of removing sparkplugs, checking fuel lines etc before it started ( never did find out why it stopped ) We fished all day inside and outside of Sydney harbour without another problem. Not to get stuck again I bought a 5hp mercury of ebay with only 3hrs use on it. I wasn't real sure about the power to push my boat but I have tried it out and it pushes her along at about 4knots which is what I wanted to get me out of the way and onto a anchor point or putt home in calm waters. As for the comments of having to service your aux every year, I don't agree! I have run 15 and 20hp aux's for years with the only service being done by me. Change plugs, change gearbox oil annually and impeller every 2 years and never had a problem. One thing I do is run the aux. for at least 1/2 hr each time out during which we just do a bit off trolling. I have had the big motors serviced at dealers ( I don't know why ) and had problems after the service. I swore the last time ( cost me $1480 was a 100hr service and the boat broke down almost as soon as we left the ramp ) that I would not take a boat back to a dealer to be ripped off. I'm sure apart from changing plugs that they didn't do anything else except put a bug into the system. I removed the thermostats and found one of them to be corroded, obviously had not been checked at the service. This is getting away from the post so I will stop but it really needles me. The amount of people I tell about my experience with this dealer I would say has cost him a lot more than he ripped off me. Regards Jeff
  18. Marbled fathead have a size limit the same as tiger flathead of 33cm as far as I know! Regards Jeff
  19. You have not given much information. Did you catch it, how big was it and what was the weight? Finally where was it caught, I notice your from Windsor, the background in the photo is not any part of the Hawkesbury I know so I suspect it was caught elsewhere! Regards Jeff
  20. I have used this pudding for good results. Half a cup of bread from a fresh loaf, cheddar cheese and finely chopped garlic sausage. Mix together by hand and then add pulped tin sardines into the mixture. Like all pudding mix's the idea is to get the right consistency to stay on the hook. Fish I have caught with this are bream and jackets and the odd bully mullet . Regards Jeff
  21. The only way I have cooked them is stuffed and baked whole wrapped in alfoil. Stuffing was made off onion, garlic, chives and zucchini. The moisture in the zucchini tends to keep moisture in the fish. We don't eat the stuffing because it taste like crap, but the flavours go through the fish. Regards Jeff
