Im in the same boat as you david. I found it very hard to find squid in sydney harbour but my routine is lauch at rose bay chuck some jigs around there which i have caught little ones in the past near the ramp and now i find rose bay has a good source on yakkas that i can depend on. Next spot is the shore line of neilson park ive also caught a coulpe decent squid there ONCE but have been told from a pro thats a good spot. Lady jane is a spot that i caught smalls one b4. C. gardens is a spot i try and had abit of luck. Middle head down to balmarol bath has landed me a few. Camp cove has a big ZERO to its name but been told to try there too. But the problem is the consistency of catchin squid is hard and i cant depend on them not like the good old yakkas. If any of the pro squidy are reading this, i got few question to ask. How deep can or should you go if you tryin for squid around the harbour?? Do you always work the shore line or mix it up and work the middle of the channel,holes or outside south/north head?? sorry to high jack the thread but i think these questions could help us both. Cant help u with kings as i jus downrig them outside the heads till i bump into a school. TIA

Hey raiders, Up in brissy atm and manage to sneak in a night session along the banks of the brissy river. Fishing the run up tide using prawns for bait we caught alot of strange species. *alot of catfish * a very mean pike eel. (have been told these ugly suckers have been caught and the size ranges up to 2mtrs) * small jew * And wait for it a FRUIT BAT..... Apparently my mate has caught up to 1mtr jews and threadies at this spot jus on prawns. i thought i share this strange night with yous . Goin to try and fit 1 more session in b4 we head home but they say showers all weekend

Up in brissy atm which I like to look around some tackle stores and I ended up buyin sunline super p.e in 10lb which was the cheapest out of top range. $35 was to hard to turn Down compare to fins ,Pp and tuff costin much . Why so cheap for japanese braid Im not sure but I must try it to find out. I will definetly try Sufix 832 next Time round as it felt very nice through my fingers. Also brought my first blades from impact tackle to try them out for the summer, they. Weren't so cheap

You can do it the hard way like me and buy average rods first then put them in the corner when u buy decent rods after lol.

Mate i broke my rapala jig rod and was devistated cause i thought my 240 bucks jus went down the drain. I went back to the store i got it from and he told them what happen, which he replied that silstar covers breakage like that and gave me a new rod no questions ask If your a regular customer they might do the same thing, u never know.

I personally love nitro and have 2 my self which are great rods and warranty on them is very hard to turn down. My mate has snapped my viper once and knowing it cost 70bucks to get a brand new section was super. The tackle store at villawood had a sale which you can get them for $300 normally whould be 330ish.

Rose bay has pently. Been there twice and each time collect enough for a session. Only probably is nothing wants to eat the yakkas Anyone wanna guide me to find a decent source of squid (Pm if you wish to help) cause i fail hard when it comes to squid in the harbour

The misses and i got a chance to test of the rod lastnight/morning which now has been blooded The rod pulled up 2 salmon and 1 bonnie with ez and felt great and pently of grunt. Did do some squiding with out a hook up but the action in the tip felt much better then the guided rods. 2 things i could complain about is the hook keeper is at the bottom on the rod which its kinda pointless if you cant leave your jig on the rod and cant put them in the rod holders . The jointing knot affects the cast distance if the knot sat in the rod. I have to do more experimenting with lighter line but over all very impressed with the rod. Bring on the kings

I feel your pain too stream! I jus got home from a all night/morning session and all we caught was tailor,salmon and bonnies, they were busting up the surface all morning in the harbour. Ive been out about the same amount of time and only mannage to landed 2 undersize kings since the weather has gotten warmer. Its driving me nuts!

nice work mate! Im heading out tomorrow to DR around the harbour i can only hope to bump into some kings and also take the itch of my addiction too.

If you have a cheap lure that could be the problem or try slowing down a touch more. I dont use sinkers on any type of lures i have.

I haven't tied the knot that has been recommended will do tomorrow when i have a play with it. My current leader is 12lb with a double uni knot. That could be the problem why but I'm still goin to down grade to 10lb as my spool doesn't hold much of 15lb anyways.

I personally find i need to go at least 8knots to make the skirts catch me fish. Ive had great success with black magic jethead 4" mackeral colour but im sure there are many out there that will do the same.

Hey raiders, My misses jus graduated from uni after a long 3yrs and she wanted a rod as a present which i couldnt turn down as im such a nice bf. So after hrs and days of searching around for what she wanted we ended up with a Daiwa tournament master-z interline spin rod for her. Its our first interline rod and really not sure what to expect from this show pony of a rod, the Tournament Master-Z Interline Im lettin my exist reel go to a new rod/home as she always hogs this reel when we are fishing . Now the problem i have it i need new line as im using 15lb braid atm where this rod is rated at 6-12lb and i can feel the knot gettin stuck at the tip. Ive brought braid online b4 but all the shops ive brought from have either shut down or dont have much stock. Can you guys PM me your online stores/details where i can have a look for new braid. Whats good on the market for 10lb braid these days?? Ive always used powerpro,tuff and fins but i like Fins out of them 3 as it feels much softer. Cant wait to put this rod thought its paces...squiding and surface fishing will be its main use! TIA
