  1. 3in gulp minnow in peppered prawn in summer and the 3in minnow grub in camo in winter
  2. Try a raider lure project topwater
  3. Havent tried it yet and dont think I will after using 3lb powerpro It is a lot better than crystal
  4. Have you ever thought of tying them on hidden weight jigheads? Maybe a wooly worm or a mudeye immitation
  5. They may work on marinas in the same way we fish SPs like hawgs gulp craws and crabbies but in natural colours such as olive brown or dark green
  6. Very nice Bombie Reckon they might work on bream as well
  7. Keep at it but if your land based the sandflats will work better Try Iron Cove it is pretty consistant Next weekend would be good there with a new moon and a rising tide Keep moving dont stay in the same spot Use a flick flick pause technique and pause it for a minimum 5 seconds
  8. Looks like you have the right gear and lures keep at it and a jew will come It can take a lot of hours
  9. Yep Ive seen some vids of bream on poppers in UAE massive just like that one
  10. Try underneath Captain Cook bridge on the northern side at night on the top of the tide Use larger lures 15cm nilsmasters in a mullet colour are very good They dont need to go deep and a rod that can cast those lures a long way are what you need We used to use beachrods with sidecasts Now would be a good time with a bit of fresh coming down the river and leading up to the full moon Good luck it is a game of patience and keeping a lure in the water
  11. Interesting Greg Im with Hodgey on barra seems like the more you catch out of a school the more agro they get though they generally are small EPs definately shut down but I have experienced a good bite recently that went against that theory when we caught plenty and were just dropping them back in Eventually they moved on as the tide changed Bream Im not sure reckon I have had instances where they have fired up and caught plenty and times when a dropped fish has put them down So Im not sure if there is a yes or no answer to this due to a whole lot of variables
  12. I use HWS as much as possible with all SPs with weights from 1/40th up to 1/16th Its only when I need to go to heavier weights 1/12th to 1/6th that i go back to standard type jigheads I have found that you may need to go up a size in hook when using HWS for example in a 2in gulp shrimp I will use a no1 size hook in HWS and a no2 size hook if using a standard jighead
  13. I havent used anything else other than the tackleback and you dont need a snap The tackleback will grab on the trebles of the lure I have used it landbased but you need a good angle on the line so it can slide down it to the snagged lure
  14. I use a tackleback(the smallest model) and I reckon it has saved me a couple of grand I run mine on 60lb mono on a small handline and use it for HBs and blades Havent noticed any problems using it on 4lb leader
  15. Sounds like a good rod I actually use an old squidgy spin for poppers and it doubles up as an oyster rack rod as well
  16. The new raider lure project range is very good You may want to have a look at the topwater one for poppers I have the vibe which I have found excellant for vibes and very good for surface pencils and shrimp on 2gm jigheads but too soft in the tip for heavier poppers I also have the minnow which is perfect for sinking stick minnows and HBs
  17. First one is a crescent perch Second could be a juvenile brown maori cod Third a wire netting cod Fourth frogfish Fifth tuskfish Sixth parrot fish(there a lots of different ones not sure what that one is)
  18. The yanks know how to fit out a tinny Check this out for a 14footer reckon aussie builders should have a version though I expect it would be a bit too expensive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DZee4LQwZg
  19. Congrats Dan and Mick Great result Must of been tough when the change came through Looking forward to watching the interview when it comes online
  20. Ive never used it so cant comment Ive only used the vanish not the transition and wont use the vanish for leader again Berkley does make a good FC leader called Trilene Ice
  21. Would have been fun on your jew/snapper outfit We used to use 7ft wilson heavy barra rods with penn 850 spinfishers 10kg mono 30yrs ago
  22. Shouldnt be a problem We dont use leaders when fishing straight through FC We do change our spools of FC every season as it seems to deteriate in time so if you use a 200m spool for leader you will find the leader breaking easily once you get through a 100m or so Ive had that experience and was backed up by Scotty Towner who had the same problem
  23. Awsome Greg Got to love catching sails Used to chase them off 1770 and Cape Capricorn One time we were heading out to Masthead island stopped to empty some water out of the fuel filter and a school of baitfish came up under the boat with a sail circling around us all litup something I wont forget Hope you were using light gear for the sails
