  1. Both rods seem to be a bit heavy and are more suited to a 4000 size reel What fish do you want to use the new rod for?
  2. Thanks Im more interested in light tackle sportsfishing than chasing stickfaces Have caught a 600lb black on the marlin highway over there back in 98 standup 24kg on a 5.5m cairns custom craft
  3. Nice report I will be taking the family there for a couple of weeks when I get made redundant sometime soon Im interested in the trolling small lures for reef fish as it would be fun for my daughters
  4. The 2500 stradic is a good reel no problem handling jewfish on it Have a look at the shimano lure project vibe rod it is a great allrounder I love using mine But my advice would be to go to a tackleshop grab a 2500 stradic and try it on all the rods mentioned and see which feels the most comfortable to you and that will be the one to get
  5. Nice session guys Was going to hit Chippo on monday but am now heading down to fish St Georges basin for the next two weekends
  6. 1/16th wont spook a bream unless its the middle of a bright sunny day with no wind and shallow water then anything will spook them Try a 1/8th jighead on the 3in sps as your landbased and cast it as far as you can and hop it all the way back to you with plenty of pauses that could get you some fish
  7. Wrigglers because of the fine tail work well on light jigheads as it doesnt take much movement to get the tail moving D grubs need at least a 1/16th jighead to get the tail moving on the drop Plenty of bream get caught on 3in or bigger SPs such as 80mm and 100mm wrigglers 3in bassminnows and 3in gulp minnows
  8. Sounds like a fun day with the family Jorg May have to give chippo a try myself should be some black bream and bass up towards the wier
  9. Very nice It will be interesting to see how she performs on the water
  10. Ive spent a bit of time in a tiller steer one with a 40hp honda The ride is good and stability is great Two of us can cast lures off the front deck and the boat doesnt rock at all The casting deck is huge but the hatches open into the bare hull It runs really well with the 40 honda and it is rated to a 60hp If I had the boat I would up it to a 60hp with side consul but thats me I will always go for max HP
  11. Nice EPs There are plenty in the Georges Bridges and rocky points should be holding them at the moment
  12. I use 3lb powerpro and it is far better than fireline or microfuse that I used to use
  13. Theres a good teams tournament in september worth entering Sydney harbour bream classic sept 9th
  14. I have fished this a few times and it is a great tournament unfortunately it falls on the same weekend as the netball state age titles which puts me out of fishing it again Forget the HBs unless the wind comes up to about 15knts(the shallow flats wont work until late in the session when the weed has had some sun on it and theres a bit of wind) and try and fish the deep edges and flats 15ft-30ft Get some 100mm wasabi wrigglers 75mm java lobbies and 2in gulp shrimp peppered prawn also VX40s or 35mm strikepro blades(the brown one with blue spots) Good luck the locals are pretty hard to beat Also fish the bays that the wind is blowing into and fish slow with a lot of deadsticking
  15. Have a look at the raider lure project vibe it is a good allround rod I have one and it handles surface lures blades and SPs on jigheads 2gm and up
  16. What a great session I have seen a salmon caught as far up river as Lambeth park a few years ago
  17. Its only the increased resistance of using a bibbed lure
  18. Either of the Ci4s but go up to the 2500 size

Nice Keep the updates coming I would like to see how it turns out
  20. Little waterway that runs under the HWY? North or south of Gladstone Sounds a little like the topend of the Calliope
  21. Its the Boyne river near the mouth I know what you mean about the weather up there Greg I reckon the last four trips I did up there were too windy to get out to the reefs
