  1. As far as I know there is a difference between FC leader and FC line The FC leader has a harder outside shell for abrasion resistance and the FC line has a softer outside shell for casting ability Some of the cheaper FCs are somewhere inbetween I use sunline FC Rock for leader and sunline FC sniper for some spinning with HBs For flatties when you used to use 20lb mono for trace to stop bite throughs you can now drop down to a 12lb FC leader because of the increased abrasion resistance
  2. There is a lot of lures that are good for trolling for kings Heres some we used to use Lively lures blue pilly(great mackeral lure up north) Nilsmaster Invincibles especially the deep diver I prefer not to use CD rapalas due to the fact that they sink and snag up when a fish is hooked on other lures Halco laserpros Jinkai lil jerk(not sure if you can still get these)its a small skirted lure that we used to put quite away back behind the minnow lures Often the kings would be shy and be attracted to the larger minnows but not hit them but would hit the lil jerk Also try a shallow running lure off a downrigger
  3. told me there is a boat with a raider sticker on it in the next street from us So I went for a walk thismorning to have a look and its a seaal tinny with electric on the front
  4. Not a GT Its a brassy trevally
  5. Interesting post I too have been done over in chippo up near the weir i thought possibly big black bream but they were distinctive takes much like a jack but I never thought of that at the time and I have caught a lot of jacks mainly in the Boyne and Calliope rivers and other systems around 1770 Ive also heard of jacks in the Hawkesbury I have seen a mate catch a salmon at Lambeth park a few years ago and Im pretty sure I hooked a giant herring once at Oatley which threw the lure right next to the boat
  6. Totally agree about the line Most finnesse fishing is slow such as slow rolling HBs short lifting blades or quick flicks on SPs so you dont need a fast line retrieve
  7. Hey Greg its been a long time since I did some work as a deckie but in a spread of five we always ran the largest lures off the corners smallest furtherest back up the middle and middle size lures off the outriggers so for us it was mainly 2x24kgs corners and 15kgs for the rest for your case it probably would be 37kgs off the corners and 24kgs for the rest how far back will depend on what wash your boat gives off and what sea is running Middle lure will be a shotgun quite a way back
  8. Yeah reckon theyre a bit scarce Stewy not enough stocking yet or they have gone over the wall
  9. Used to go to Pejar in the early nineties quite a bit and the lure that always seemed to work there was the smallest size ABU toby Might be worth a try Stewy

  13. Reckon Australia didnt win that game more like South Africa bombed it A vast improvement is needed by the aussies especially Cooper though I dont think he could play that bad again
  14. Never had any problems with the drag on my 1000 stradics or line capacity proven by a few rat kings hooked and landed while chasing bream Rob is talking about 1-3kg not 2-4kg or 2-5kg
  15. My favorite outfit is a 1000 stradicFI matched to a custom 7ft rod 3lb white powerpro braid and 4lb leader There are some great new shimano raiders coming out in the next couple of weeks worth looking at
  16. Thanks Seems like my house has moved a little and a row of tiles in my shower recess have bowed out off the wall so I need someone to have a look to see what can be done to fix it Time is not a problem but probably sooner rather than later

  21. Hey Rob should be a nice day down there I found with my kids that trolling HBs was the best option You should get some flatties along the weedbed edges with small deepdivers
  22. I fish the same areas Basin Georges and Bay quite a lot and each area is quite different so it is rather difficult to pick five lures also different conditions demand different colours and lure types There are now so many different brands of lures that all work so this is a rough guide on what to look for 1 chubby style lures in natural and dark colours 2 shad style lures in prawn and baitfish colours 3 sinking stick minnows in prawn and baitfish colours 4 poppers in natural colours and cicada style surface lures in dark colours 5 surface walkers in prawn colours and baby garfish colours
