  1. Funny post I used to catch bream on lures(on small wonder wobblers) in the seventies thought it was a fluke until it became too consistant Also fished with bait but fished it like fishing with lures live prawns cast unweighted at snags very effective but now much prefer lures
  2. When they go off the surface bite the little austackle shinku in prawn colours works well fished on 3lb flouro
  3. The Iceman

    Weird Prawn

Get plenty of them in the Georges in drop nets with a bit of steak for bait around rocky areas at night They are a saltwater prawn similar to the freshwater one but I cant remember there name
  4. Gotto love Towra when its fishing well Some cracking bream on there at times Only move your surface lure about a meter then pause it for up to 10seconds before moving it again The bream should really be smacking HBs on there at the moment
  5. Stiffy popper in FRV when theres some chop Sammy or Jaz zappa in clear with a little red on the front when there is a little bit of ruffle on the water Ive recently bought a couple of Virals(thanks Roberta)and have found the trebles and rings to be way too big for whiting and bream on the 70mm one so Ive changed them to the same size as on the 50mm viral much much better for hookups
  6. Yeah I saw you get the landing net out a couple of times There always seems to be a few flatties where you were The guy in the kayak got a few nice whiting earlier on fishing surface lures
  7. Nice looking lure Roberta Flatties are fun when they hit surface lures they usually come up and track the lure sitting just under the surface you may not see it being low to the water I had one on friday come up from ten feet away from the lure and swim towards it with its fin breaking the waters surface before boofing the lure and missing the hooks
  8. Yep that was me You would have been in the older tinny by yourself as there were two other boats on there as well
  9. I was up there as well friday morning in my little tinny with my daughter (who spent the whole time lying on the seat) throwing lures around It was really quiet only a few missed hits on surface and small bream pike and a longtom on HBs
  10. [quote name='abecedarian' Basically, anyone telling you that expensive gear is no better than cheap gear is talking crap! And anyone telling you that you won't catch fish without expensive gear is talking just as much crap! Get what you can afford and what you're comfortable with then just go fishing.
  11. Off to St Georges Basin for xmas Hopefully the surface bite will be happening
  12. Boat looks very good on the water The river can fish well when the cicadas start small poppers and buggipops cast tight into snags and under mangroves is great fun lots of small bream with some good ones mixed in
  13. I have two lure project rods the 7'4" vibe which I find very versatile as I throw blades topwaters and SPs with over 2gm jigheads and it handles all really well its matched to a 1500 symetre that is a couple of years old For HBs and stickminnows I have a lure project minnow matched to a 1000fi stradic and 4lb flouro and it also is a great outfit
  14. Awesome fun on HBs and poppers thats a good colour you are using Are you using braid or straight through flouro on your HBs? Ive had a lot of success over last summer with straight through 4lb flouro in clear water
  15. Its a whole new world Easiest is to start with small poppers Check this out http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=28395
  16. Surface lures are way more fun than softplastics
  17. Bet the locals would like to hear of the EP from the Basin There isnt too many caught in there
  18. There are some good landbased spots to try like Hen and Chicken bay on parramatta river along the walls starting from the boatramp at the end of Burwood road all around Iron cove bay and Willoughby bay in middle harbour at the cricket fields Fish the top half of the tides Some of the plastics I would use are 6inch gulp worms in camo cut in half rigged on 2gm squidgy jigheads or 2in gulp shrimp on 1/16th TT jigheads 80 or 100mm squidgy wrigglers on 3gm squidgy jigheads If you want to try blades TT switchblades in golden boy or my current favorite strikepro 35mm cyber vibe in colour 1460B The way to do it is to be mobile with your gear in a backpack and walk along casting as you go to cover area There should be flatties bream and whiting starting to come on as the weather and water gets warmer
  19. Any EP over 40cm is a good one My pb is 47cm measured to the fork of the tail but the biggest I have seen is one my brother caught that went 52cm measured to the fork of the tail
  20. Nice outfit may you catch plenty with it
  21. I might go for a look on sat arvo
