  1. Used to do well there using a Baltic minnow which you can cast a mile out into the deeper water Havent been there since the mid nineties
  2. I was thinking about one too for the new boat but after a sounder for the front and possibly a hydrowave
  3. I like the NW pencils(ghost wakasagi) in march and april when the fish seem to be chasing small poddy mullet and baby gar as opposed to prawns which have slowed down by then
  4. Must say the smaller strada viral appeals to me as well
  5. Heres an old abu killer and an old rebel both 70s vintage killer top rebel bottom
  6. Yep that's a Heddon Had a few myself mostly lost to mangrove jacks And there is quite a market for old aussie hand made lures
  7. Worth a lot on the vintage lure market Eric Mollers lures were a hand carved design based on the Heddon Tiger I was fascinated by Vic McCristals articles in fishing mags as a kid and that is what got me into lure fishing I was also fortunate to meet him in the early eighties
  8. Looking in my tackle box I'm trying to determine what is a copy(how much different does a lure need to be to not be a copy?) I really don't think I have any others the closest maybe the lures that look similar to a sugapen but I am yet to give them a good run I haven't even looked at buying any new lures lately as the shinkus and atomic bream shads have been working too well
  9. Interesting I usually look at the price of copy's as I generally wont touch a $5 copy of a $20 lure but will look at a $12 copy for example I use a lot of sinking stick baits mainly austackle shinkus which are pretty close to a copy of the tiemco stick minnow and under half the price I lose a lot of them to tailor pike and flatties One of the observations I have found though is when the fish are on the chew they will take the copy's but when it is tough the originals will work much better
  10. I will be very interested to see how Florida fishing techniques can be adapted to ours
  11. Strange this will sound coming from me who mostly uses shimano gear but the daiwa generation black itchy twitchy or wicked weasel are very good rods for structure and well under your budget
  12. I cant see a problem with that boat here It will be well suited to our waters A lot of guys were running skeeters and such but are now changing over to boats like edgewaters giving them the options of fishing the shallower waters and also heading outside the harbours to fish Most of the boats range in size from 17' to 21'
  13. I get a lot of bream on the middle one in the first row in autumn when there are baby garfish around
  14. Always fun whiting on surface Out of curiosity what are your best colours Ive always found clear or something with a touch of yellow in it
  15. Some great fish there A 50+ bass and 50+ EP in one day You will be lucky to see that again
  16. Try blades they are a bit heavier and less wind resistant My pick would be strikepro cybervibe 35 in colour 1460B for the clear water there Its also consistent on whiting With SPs it sounds like you may need to use heavier jigheads I would try 80 or 100 mm wrigglers in wasabi with maybe a 1/8th jighead
  17. They are there alright Might have a quick flick tomorrow and sound some areas out while I'm racking up some more hours on the new boat for the 20hr service
  18. Yep stick baits are pretty good Green sammys work extremely well
  19. Any popper that represents a cicada will work and corn is a good bait for carp
  20. The water through there is very clear so you need light leaders which could be a problem with flatties I fish the area with lures and only use a 3lb flouro setup catch bream whiting trevs and flatties but have lost a few lures to flatties Start of the runout is better
  21. If anyone wants to come for a run in my new boat it needs to get some hours up as well as a fish in Botany Bay launching from Oatley Probably do some trolling and flats fishing on Towra Maybe chase a jew in the river
