  1. The bay is totally trashed man and sorry to say it won't improve Gotta go outside
  2. Let's hope so because I've been out several times now and the fishing is definately having a big affect on things now. This season would be the worst on record for the bay. I've noticed Scotty lyons moving alot in the bay too and he seems to be fishing outside more. I think he too is feeling the punch. Tight lines!! Hey Dogtooth, yep your not wrong there mate. The bay has copped a hiding and it's going to take time to recover. The harbour is the way to go or outside the hacking. There have been plenty of Kings tearing up the surface out near jibbon so the hacking is also the place to try. Forget the bay!!! I believe you know my cousin Iro?
  3. Decided to get up early 6am start on the bay for a few hours before work so headed out straight for livies at usal spot. Burleyed up to bring on the yakkas and nothing came along The bay was filthy dirty and the swells were pumping and straight away my thoughts was going to be another one of those empty days in the bay. Tried the drums Mol point another reefy point just E off the no5 drum and zilch I'm telling you that the bay is empty and the kings will not even venture in if the water clarity doesn't lift. It's been shit for the last 3 weeks and it aint going to change until the works stop. They have realy messed the bay up and it will take along time to recover. Want Kings........go outside!! Tight Lines!
  4. The drums. There is bait all over the bay so search for it with your sounder.
  5. Yep I fished it. Not much happening though. Fish were hard to find. Caught 3 Kings but as usal under size. 63cm was the biggest. Other 2 where 60cm. Plenty of undersized Snapper as well. Maybe next week.
  6. Wall along side Yarra bay. Mol/point Forget the bay.........It's totally dead!!! Thanks to the Desal plant and the container terminal works. Yes you will get a few kings here and there but I've seen all rats so far. The big ones are just outside in cleaner water. Get your self a down rigger and you will be buzzzzzing in no time. there are the keepers outside!!
  7. The telegraph have no idea.......Up north or NZ would you find such a monster like that........Sydney Harbour Maybe 120cm would be the biggest I've seen caught here.
  8. All I can stay to you man you are not the only one The bay of empty I call it. Since those idiots in government decided to put a desal plant and dredge the whole bay also the container terminal which they are adding too well the bay is totally Yeah you might get a few fish but the blue moon has to be out to get them. You have to go outside and you will find heaps. They are dinfinately staying out of the bay in the cleaner water. The mouth is ok but outside is better. Inside forget it! Tight Lines!
  9. Headed out with Big Kev yet again this time giving Botany Bay the flick and trying the Harbour for some good Kings. Anchoured at the bait grounds on light and within the first minute of burling up the yellow tails were every where. Got 20 in 10 minutes in the tank no problems. Hand my little Shimano GTS bream outfit out with a yellowtail fillet beneath the schools of bait and bang the little 4000 shimano reel was pulling line like there was no tomorrow With 4kg line I'm thinking there is no way I'm going to get this King on the boat. With slowing him up and playing around to ware him down he finally comes to the surface and it's a beautie King going 75cm We decided to head for North Head to downrig a few Livies but after several drifts we didn't get any takers. We then headed to Quarantine Bay and anchored up close to the marker bouys as the activity on the sounder was going belistic. We got the livies down and before it hit the bottom BUZZ BUZZ were on again and Kev hooks another good fish. After another 5 minute fight it's in the boat going 72cm We were in this spot for a good 2 hours and we manage to go through all our livies in that period. We hooked onto another 10 Kings but these guys were all just under the legal size going 60 to 63cm. All released to grow bigger!!! We had a mixed bag of Snapper and Tarwine caught from this spot but all under legal size and released. We also hooked a Port Jackson Shark a quick snap shot and back in the drink. Plenty of Fun and it was time to head to the colours and with about 10 livies back in the tank we headed there drifting several times over the reef. Kevs big Shimano TD25 is BUZZING This was no Rat this was a Hoodlum. She was pulling 10kgs of Drag and she still kept running and there was no stopping this guy straight down to the reef and Ping. This was a good fish we think over the 100cm mark easy. We did the same drift over and over and we hooked up again this time my silstar was going to cop a workout and at full drag she was no match with 20lb mono no chance in hell of slowing these guys up We managed to hook up 4 times but with no luck. These were big Kings and I'm going to load up with 50lb next time. It was one hell of a day. We decided to head back in and call it a day. Can't wait to do it again soon!!! Tight Lines
  10. Great fish Dog tooth!!! Awesome mate.
  11. Yep It sounds like the trend the last few weeks. The whole bay is dead.......the fish have fled else where. I've been out the last 2 outing and fished every spot you could think of with Live Yakkas and Squid for nothing. Not even the downrigger would come up trumps Not sure what's going on but it looks like the brilliant idea by the state government with building the stupid desal plant has realy F$%# the fishing up in the bay.
  12. Thet were at the mouth of the bay. Moving around very quickly so you have to be chasing them constent. All over the bay and out at the mouth. The kings are all under size but if you troll down deep you will find the keepers.
  13. Headed out for a quick 2 hour fish. Water was bubbling and slowed about 50 mtrs from the school. Casted out gillies 20 gr whitebait slice for instant hook ups. What great fun these speedsters are on light gear. The kings are all under size so they all went back in the drink hooked 4 and lost several. They were all around the 55 to 60cm mark. It was an awesome sight seeing them chasing the lures to the boat It's a great sign and the water temp warming to 21oC it's only going to get better!!! Tight lines!!!

  15. OUT ONCE AGAIN WITH BIG KEV AND AS USUAL OUT LATE AFTER 9 . BACK TO SCHOOL, SO TAKING MY BOY TO SCHOOL THEN IT'S A BIG HOP DOWN TO THE RAMP. WENT AFTER SOME LIVIES BUT THEY ARE HARD TO FIND. CAN ANY OF YOU GUYS TELL ME WHERE I MIGHT BE ABLE TO SCORE SOME LIVIES BESIDES YARRA BAY? ANYWAY WE DECIDED TO HEAD OUTSIDE AND TRY OUR LUCK AROUND THE POINT NEAR KURNELL AND AS SOON AS WE TURNED THE CORNER IT WAS A MASSIVE AND I MEAN MASSIVE SCHOOL OF KINGFISH BONITO AND SAMON ALL WORKING THE WATER MUNCHING ON BABY PILLIES. WE HURLED OUT A FEW HALCO 20 GRAM SHINNERS AND WE WERE HOOKED. ON 12LB LINE WE WERE NO MATCH FOR THESE KINGS. WE GOT A FISH CLOSE TO THE BOAT AND PING ALL OVER RED ROVER. IT WAS A GOOD FISH OF AROUND 75CM'S SCHOOL HUNG AROUND FOR A WHILE BUT THE BUST OFF'S WERE FREQUENT. I'M STICKING ON THE BRAID NEXT TIME I GO OUT. WE DID LAND A HEFTY SIZED BONITO AT 50CM. THEY WERE ONLY TAKING 15 TO 20 GRAM SHINNERS. ANY BIGGER THEY WEREN'T EVEN TOUCHING IT. PLASTICS WERE GETTING HITS TOO BUT IT TOOK A WHILE. SHINNERS STRAIGHT AWAY. SO A MIXED BAG FOR THE DAY WITH TREVALY BONITO AND SWEAP. ALL IN ALL NOT A BAD DAYS FISHING BUT IT WAS WORTH SEEING THAT SCHOOL. DEFINATELY WILL BE READY NEXT TRIP WITH THE RIGHT LINE. TIGHT LINES!!!
  16. Hi the best way to catch the salmon is to have a 10 gram gillies all silver with white glitter. You will hook up every throw. The salmon are all over the 3kg mark so use nothing less than 15lb line. I lost 4 lures the other day on 12 lb line and could stop them. That's my tip!!!
  17. Yeah the bay is quiet however just outside the heads on both sides of the mouth there were heaps of undersized kings. Won't be long till they venture inside. The water temp needs to come upto 19oC and you will see the bay will then start to fire.
  18. WELL OUT AGAIN ON A GLORIOUS DAY WITH LIGHT WINDS EARLY AND THE BAY WAS SPARKLING. HEADED STRAIGHT OUT SIDE TO DO A BIT OF TROLLING AS THERE WERE PLENTY BIRDS PRESENT BUT THE FISH WERE NOT STIKING. ACHORED OUTSIDE KURNELL LIGHT HOUSE AND STARTED A BURLEY TRAIL AS THE SOUNDER WAS GOING NUTS DRIFTED A FEW MACKREL BAITS DOWN AND NAILED A FEW TREVALLY GOING AROUND 35CM AND THERE WERE MASSIVE SCHOOLS OF SWEEP BENEATH THE BOAT AS WELL. A FEW GOOD RETURNS DOWN ABOUT 30 FT SO I DECIDED TO THROW OUT A FEW PLASTICS AND HAVE THEM DRIFT IN THE CURRENT. WITHIN 30 SECONDS BANG THE DRAG STARTS TO BUZZ ON MY 12LB OUTFIT AND IT WAS A STUNNING 54CM KINGIE, FIRST FOR THE SEASON PULLED HIM IN TO GET A QUICK PHOTO AND HAVE HIM RELEASED TO COME BACK EVEN BIGGER HOPEFULLY IN THE COMING MONTHS. THERE WERE PLENTY AROUND ALL UNDER SIZE BUT IT IS A GREAT SIGN A BUMPER SEASON ON THE WAY. ALL IN ALL A TOP MORNINGS FISH TIGHT LINES!!!
  19. Nothing to add raiders........Zilch is the word at the moment for the bay. Water is cold 16oC and nothing around. The covers are going on the boat till September I think!!! I'd say the evening would be the way to go and you might just land yourself a feed of Tailor or even a jewie....Tight lines!!!
  20. Well done mate, that was a hefty fish. I haven't been to Avoca for yonks and it still produces the goods. I have to get myself down there soon. Keep up the good work. Tight Lines!!!
  21. Headed out for another quick mornings fish but with the wind around 20 notts from the NW and the bay starting to look more like a washing machine and water temp decreasing rapidly down to 16oC I thought it aint going to happen today !!! Tried the point for a few trevally which were all throw backs and that was all that was around . Decided to head around the bombie near Bare Island and trolled a popper out the back and it got nailed by a big Tailor but it decided to spit the hooks close to the boat. Did several other trawls thinking there maybe more Tailor around but it must of been a loner. Achored up on a patch of bait and hooked a nice size Pike which will fillet great for Jewie on the next trip. All in all it was great being out there even though the bucket was empty. Tight lines
  22. Top of the tide headed out down to Molleymook Beach for some surf fishing. Got there 1 hour before the 1.9m tide After all the rain and some serious current running and swell of 2 mtrs thought I'd be wasting my time but I proved myself wrong . Found a great gutter down the northern end and straight away got some good bites. Half pillies on 2 4/0 hook rig and the salmon were on . Hooked a nice 2kg fish and 15 minutes later hooked another going 2.5kg's. The smaller ones started to show and caught another 6 which were all release going 1kg each. All in all a good 3 hours of fun and 2 nice size salmon to smoke up. Tight lines!!!
  23. Headed out to Mol/point 10am weather was overcast and rainy. Burleyed heavy for a good hour and nothing was taking baits. Plenty of small trevally and sweap everywhere, so we decided to head for the drums. Anchored and burled hard once again. Managed to hook a small Rat Fingfish which went 50cm. Would of loved to tag the little guy after sending him back to the drink Got to get me self some tags. Be very interesting where he could end up in just a few months. Anyway that was all the excitement untill the leather jackets showed up. They were in plague porportions and eating everything in site hook line and sinker. We then decided to head back in. I'm thinking we have now seen the end of the Kingfish run as the water temp is reducing rapidly. It's now at 17.6oC a drop of 2 degrees in just a week. Tight Lines!!!!
  24. Sounds like you had a great day as well. Good stuff and some nice Tailor there as well. Cheers. Aqua Naut
