  1. More like chasin' my tail. What a deadset mongrel weekend. Try sittin' on Buladelah Mountain for most of Friday night. Then all day Saturday sittin' around doing "diddly squat". Then try going out at first light on Sunday to fetch the crab nets only to run out of fuel and then, once refueled, I turn up at our traps only to find they had been lifted. No more "Mr Niceguy" where Hookys' concerned. Stuff everyone from now on. Maybe next time I'll catch up with 'ya Mick. At least the weather was nice.
  2. Great going there fella's and great report. I had a similar day near the heads at Botany today with most fish going around the 55 - 60 cm range. Caught some on the troll early morning using Berkley Frenzys' and then chased and casted to the schools later in the morning with most fish then taking 3" Pearl Blue bass minnows. Great fun on the 4/6lb bream gear but like you said, it's hard on the arms. Oh, and I again went in for a swim when my rod flew overboard, gee's a bloke moves quick when he has to............I was getting hot anyway. cheers Hooky
  3. Good punting to 'ya Mick. I'm just about to head out myself. cheers Hooky
  4. G'day Motty Yep, that's the "belle" in the background. We fished from there up to the start of the rocks at the gorge and then headed down to the weir. Good luck. cheers Hooky
  5. G'day Donna Yep, I'm still in for two of #2 (as per pic). I will pm you when I get home. cheers Hooky
  6. Nice fish Mick Morley, that should feed my old man for a while. If I'm not getting pics sent to me from dad of you and John, I'm seeing pics here on Fishraider. I've seen the photo album myself Raiders and it certainly is impressive although the last time I saw it, it was at my brothers' 40th so it's probably been updated since. BTW, Mick Morley is my cousin. cheers Hooky
  7. Stewys' on the button. Rob, start locally first, mainly 'cos it's nice and close and you can spend an hour here and there just getting used to casting/fishing from your yak. You can put in at the bridge on Macquarie Grove Rd (Camden Airport) or over at the SES ramp near the soccer fields in Camden with no hassles at all. It's just great to go for a paddle and check out the river and the sites.....the fishing is just a bonus. Especially practice your "side casting" as this will help get your lures in and under the trees etc. Good luck to 'ya. EDIT: Macquarie Rivulet is down at Lake Illawarra. cheers Hooky
  8. No worries Grant, all is good. As for fishing, it was a good day out chasin' bass around the Nepean at Tench Reserve with Andrew (The Iceman) with a couple of decent bass caught and a few smaller ones thrown in for entertainment. Should be a good season for bass, looking forward to it actually. cheers Hooky
  9. G'day Grant Is that a new site rule or are you just doubting what Mick has to say? Not everyone has a camera to make their reports all nice and glossy and dare I say that you have a lot of editing to do on the boards and questions of reliability to ask many members who have posted reoprts without pics of good fish. As for Micks report been reliable, well as Mick said: So later on today, after I get back from my fishing outing, I will ring my cousin, my brother, my dad and my uncle who all fish off the sand with Mick and co and I will report back to you. Personally, even without speaking to any contacts up that way, I would believe what Mick has to say 'cos the jewies are just swarming up that way at the moment. BTW, I have my camera packed for todays outing just in case I may want to put up a report..........maybe. cheers Hooky
  10. I'll be chasin' bass with "The Iceman" tomorrow and then Sunday is yard work and maybe a local paddle in the canoe......if it's not too windy. Have a good weekend Raiders.

    The Peak

I can relate to the above quote, no arguments there. Good to see you're back out on the water Chris, here's hoping for a good summers' fishin' for 'ya.
  12. I suppose I shouldn't laugh............ I know where I'd rather be and it ain't within the Sydney basin that's for sure. I moved from the Manning Valley to the Sydney region with wifey for work reasons and I'd probably go back tomorrow if it wasn't for my daughter leaving school and needing a job in the next couple of years or so. Come to think of it, kids don't leave home early anymore, if they do at all, and they seem to hang around for cash handouts from obliging dads' so I may as well grab wifey and daughter and head back north tomorrow. BTW, good luck with what ever you decide on Fishin Mission!!! cheers Hooky
  13. G'day Mick Dad just sent some pics through to me. One of which shows just after the 'goon burst through.
  14. G'day Mick I just got off the phone to the old man and he was saying my cousin went down and pulled out a feed of flatties. The fish are lining up waiting for the lagoon to open and apparently the birds were having a feast on the fish as well.
  15. Sorry Mick, the site was down when I left for my arvo's socialising. Hope you had a good day, mine was "break even". BTW, if it wasn't for the crappy weather, I would have been casting from the sand with the rellies' this weekend. Heaps of jews swimmimin' around at the moment. cheers Hooky
  16. Tom, have a good one mate!!!
  17. Leaky. My weekend was going to include fishing the Georges or the Tench Reserve area on the Nepean but that fell through. Then I thought I might pack the car and look for some Jews off the sand whilst visiting family but my wife has booked my daughter in at the hairdressers for Sunday. (Where's the man version of this emoticon Stewy? ) No pub either, the weather is getting too good to be inside the pub for a whole 'arvo. So basically, I'm buggered if I know what I'm doing. Have a good weekend Raiders and good luck to those wetting a line. cheers Hooky
  18. The wall can wait, it's starting to get too warm to work outside and it was too cold in winter to work outside. Maybe the missus will finish it for me whilst I'm out fishing. Hey, there's a thought!!! The wives can get together and do your concrete slab and my retaining wall whilst we going bassin'.
  19. Smartarse, maybe I should have taken your container of bickies when I had the chance. Maybe if I want to keep my klootzak in tact I should work on getting brownie points for this summer as well.
  20. Oi Spicegirl, I hope you earn enough brownie points to get you out of the house and onto the bass this summer.
  21. I've only got about twelve outfits and two more on the way, so I guess just fourteen outfits for me. They range from heavy beach fishing down to light canoe work for bass in the rivers/creeks. cheers Hooky
  22. I use the "Stren Knot" for just about every "line to line" join regardless of breaking strain. Find it here: http://www.saltwatersportsman.com/saltwate...,472807,00.html Also have a read of Kens article and do yourself a favour and read all the articles. There is some good reading to be had right here on the Fishraider website. http://www.fishraider.com.au/articles/softplastics2/ cheers Hooky
  23. http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/inde...st&p=109885 Have a good weekend Raiders!!! cheers Hooky
  24. All is good. Have a good day, the weather looks like it will be ok for the rally at least.
