  14. It went a bit longer in Melbourne, in 1977, Iwas an apprentice mechanic in the army. Between 4 platoon and 5 platoon we had an opened grass area....now remember we were apprentices, 15-17 years old. We had a full scale war between the 2 platoons with skyrockets and Roman candles and bungers, 2 resupply trips into the local town by a couple of the seniors that had cars....lasted nearly 2 hours until we landed one of the big skyrockets into the duty room. We were still picking up spent fireworks 12 months later Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  17. I've done it several times, now in comfort and sleep for the night, but originally used to do it in my Nautiglass V150, and from Campbelltown. So All of what has been said above. Boat ramps are the worse part of it, so think and check out before, use the ramp, have a day on the harbour with the family. Check out the maritime website, they show where you can anchor. Get comfortable with anchoring before the day. And remember, there is going to be a lot of boats, so be prepared to be very close to someone, and also as boats leave,me vigilant, as anchors can end up crossed over. Think about position, from Campbelltown, I presume you will put in parramatta side of the bridge. There are several vantage points that side of the river, and would be worth investigating as the run back to the ramp would be easier. Eastern side of the bridge.....do NOT leave with the hordes when the police open it at 1am, it's chaos and dangerous. Be very careful particularly under the bridge, it ends up like the 'Perfect Storm' with waves going every where. Hence the longer you wait the better. With Kids on board travelling back, take it easy be vigilant, be prepared to turn the boat quickly so your bow first into a passing wake, don't scare them or the wife trying to run it side on. The above is not to put you off, just to advise the cautions, I have had some great nights, and some of the best were in the 15' Nauti, with Chicken, Prawns friends and their young son Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. There used to be something about hanging a dead animal over the water a few days ahead...let it get flyblown, the maggots drop into the water Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  21. Swordfisherman Stewy, did the sell job when he came out with me a couple of weeks back on the scent blazer teaser. I've used a lot of different teasers and have a couple of favourites. I will be adding one to my tool kit, it just looks good, and swims really really well, Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. As crossfire said above. My background is a plant mechanic (earthmoving machinery) army trained, and also 9 years as state service manager for the big orange hire company. So I may not of done a hydrive, but have repaired and supervised a lot of hydraulic cylinder repairs. The first concern is .....what caused the seal to leak? They don't just normally wear out. So, you have to inspect the ram when it's apart. The actual ram (or rod) needs to be inspected for rust, chips, dents etc, as that is possibly what has cut the seal as it has passed through that point. If that is damaged it needs to be re chromed or replaced Then the cylinder needs to be inspected the same, and as said above, honed out. The actual seal replacement as a job is not hard, white grease or Vaseline on the seals, correct tool to remove the gland nut, ensure the ram nut is tight. Remember there are two seal sets to replace, the set you can see, which I'm presuming are the set that are leaking, and the set that are on the end of the ram inside the cylinder, the set that actually move the ram in and out. As I said the job itself is not hard, and I'm sure there's probably a you tube clip on it, or a service sheet with fastening torque values etc. However.....the most important part is that you inspect the ram and cylinder and correct any wear or damage. Otherwise your new seal set will prematurely fail. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
