Bryant fish
I have twin 40 tohatsu no way I'm spending that sort of money on a 40 year old 15 ft hull crazy
frankS
Even if you replaced the Tohatsu's with 40hp mercks etc you would be up for around $16000 fitted. The price of outboard motors is ridiculous you can buy a cheap little car for not much more than a 90hp motor . Pricing on most things these days are getting way out of control. I just got a quote for plumbing to replace 2.5 metres of pipe and a junction with easy access to the problem area. $19,997,10 . I would like to know where they got the 10 cents from. The guy was here for 20 minutes and it cost me $1286 for the quote. EXTORSION, they see an old aged pensioner and decide they want to rip them off. Back in the day I had a 15ft Savage Avalon fg hull, with forward helm and controls. It had a quick hole shot and would easily hit over 60kmh in a river with a single 40hp tohatsu and 4 on board. I would think a single 60hp correctly propped and set up would more than do the job on a 15ft hull. Cheers Zoran PS - I paid just over 22K for a Merc 150 ProXS 4st, fitted with all controls, gauges, VesselView and 3 prop changes included. A single 60hp would bring your costs down significantly. Frank Just a suggestion but maybe contact fellow raider Dieter aka @61 crusher, he might be able to help you out? He is a licensed plumber. Frank Keep up with the times mate.Haven't you heard plumbing pipes are made from thick walled diamond encrusted gold?Apparently the plumbers themselves wear the same type of under pants too. You don't need to be a brain surgeon to be a plumber.Judging by the shoddy work I've seen them do I wouldn't let them end cap a drinking straw. I'm sure they're are really good ones out there that don't charge 10 times the price the jobs worth and do quality work.I'm yet to meet them. Just ask around what people have been charged changing tap washers, sink mixers etc any brain dead person can do.It's a joke!!! Sorry to hear you got taken for a ride mate.Unfortunately morals are a thing of the past these days and the mighty $ and greed rule. Thank God I've never needed to pay a trades person ever thus far. Take care mate.
Bryant fish
Will do Dave the motor that I'm having problems with I picked up for$800 about 6 years ago was a bargain and from a shop the other 1 I bought in 2003 new has been great .even looking at upgrading whole boat $30000-$35000 still gets you a 20 year old motor. Will have to have another look at repairing it but has a small corrosion hole at top of block runs but rough(runs ok at speed )

Good 2nd hand Tohatsu 40hp should only be around 3-4 grand. Frank

JonD
I believe Honda warrantees are 7yr now on recreational vessels with a high resale value at the end of the warranty. Even for commercial operators the warranty is longer than any other brand and purchase cost is far lower than the likes of Yamaha on bigger engines.
