  4. Great feed as usual yowie , any frigates still busting up?
  5. Hey papafish, i use a size 14 hook and a tiny piece of pilchard just on the tip of the hook. The garfish were near the surface
  6. Hey James, if youre spinning the gars off the rocks then salting them down is best because they become a much tougher bait as they dont fall apart. Other than that if im not using them live the gars generally come home for a feed.
  7. Thanks Pete, yeah was a nice session considering the crowds. I didnt even look at the tides either so it was nice to get some fish.
  8. Headed to the harbour at around 12 with some family to soak up some sun, not so much of a serious session just soaking a line. Plenty of gars around which were fun and picked up some solid bream too smallest going 33cm and a small salmon as well. Saw a couple solid kings around 80cm cruise past but when they knock back a live gar infront of their face they probably arent in the mood. Not a bad little session. Bait was a block of pilchards. Breams and the salmon caught on unweighted cubes. Gars on tiny pieces of pilchard.
  9. It depends on the estuary and how the baitfish react to the moon. Squid use a full moon to their advantage when hunting at night so naturally that would be a good time for squid. I personally have noticed that the new moon period has been better for pelagics but in saying that ive caught fish throughout the full moon period as well.
  10. Have you thought about climbing back up? Those boulders arent small, and if you injure yourself itll be a while before help will get to you
  11. That frigate is actually a mack tuna nice fish either way
  12. Nice bag of fish there yowie, that king seems like it had lockjaw, when theyre like that its almost impossible to get a bite
  13. So that makes it about 57cm Monster fish and definitely a fish of a lifetime, that being said I have seen bream that big around certain marinas in the harbour where you cant fish
  14. There is no way that's a kingfish lol the mouth is too pointed, im leaning towards a tuna
  15. Sounds like an awesome day on the water champ! That snapper is a nice size and the squid are huge too!

  17. Hey Raiders, Headed down to the hacking late this morning to have a crack at some whiting again, got there a couple hours before low and planned to fish it till dead low. Used Nippers again and it was hard work getting to the legal fish in between alot of annoying toadfish but in 2-3 hours ended up with 6 legals. The rig was a long trace of 4lb flurocarbon onto a size 6 longshank and a 000 size running ball sinker.
  18. Top stuff Fab1, good on you for giving a couple of bream to that guy, im sure he appreciated it. Solid breams either way

  21. Thanks yowie, I haven't targeted them in that long I forgot how good they are to eat Thanks GoingFishing was surprised tbh, this spot used to go really well around 10 years ago and looks like its still the same Thanks mate indeed they did Yup was in the hacking Thanks W4z lol They are mate especially when you're sight casting them and watching them take the bait
  22. Headed out mid morning today to a spot where id seen a Mangrove Jack lurking during the week to try and get a few snaps of it to find the place busy with boats and sunbathers so decided to give it a miss and target some whiting instead. Quick pit stop to get some nippers and off i went. Arrived at some flats i havent fished in a long time and waded out. I could see several schools of small whiting all over the joint but decided to keep going till i found some better ones. Finally found some and they werent being picky. They werent huge but they were keepers. In the space of about 2-3 hours i picked up 10 legals between 27-33cm and threw back about 30 more. It was a nice little sesh to target something other than pelagics and they will go down nicely for dinner
