  4. Headed out this morning at the gentlemans hour of 7am to see if the recent rains had brought in my favourite winter target which is the silver trevally. Armed with a block of pillys the plan was to fish cubes down a burley trail on 4lb. it took a while for the burley to work but as soon as it did I had a double hookup. I was fishing with 2 rods so I had to open the bail on one of them whilst bringing up the first trevally and then bring up the second which was a solid trev at 46cm and net it at the same time. I quickly re baited and sent out another cube, 30 seconds later I was onto another nice sized trevally. Again I re baited and a couple minutes later came up tight on a thumper breambo which gave me a lot of stick on the light gear. Quick pic and sent it back to fight another day. Things really slowed down on low tide however as soon as the run up started kicking I was back in business getting 2 trevally and surprisingly a watsons leaping bonito which decided it wanted to hang around for winter. I got down to my last few pilchards at around 1pm so burleyed up a fair bit and send a cube down when I came up tight to a steam train. Initially I thought I hooked a 50cm + trevally but this thing didn't stop running, there was no immediate structure other than the pylons beneath me and the fish was heading out so I decided to play him out. 20 minutes later a buggered kingfish finds the back of the net, it went bang on legal but since I already had a feed I sent it back to grow a few more kgs. Headed home straight after looking forward to some sashimi for later tonight
  5. That 40cm red is a nice fish yowie, ill swap you a king for a couple of those reds anyday
  6. Thanks fellas Yeah kings are definitely one of the smartest fish in our waters.
  7. Top report yowie, the gars are thick at the moment, strange that nothing was chasing them. Water is still warm for this time of year still around 20 degrees which is warm enough for the kings to hang around compared to this time last year it was around 17 degrees
  8. If youre eating a fish its best to bleed it
  9. too true mate kings are the most bi polar fish I have come across hey mate I was using a 1/0 on the pillys hey papafish just use bread on a small size 14 hook and they should be easy to catch just burley them up thanks 8lb well go for a session soon
  10. Welldone mate nothing better than popping your kingfish cherry
  11. Thanks mate yeah it went down well Thanks yowie, yeah kingfish are a clever fish and if there isn't any baitfish around it wouldn't surprise me that they targeted smaller whiting.

  13. Hey mate was getting the gars with just tiny bits of bread on a size 14 mosquito hook unweighted
  14. Hey raiders headed out again this morning after some kings or bonito and started by getting some garfish for live bait, got a few as well as some yakkas and as the sun came up first liveys hit the water. Was quiet for an hour without a touch when suddenly a group of 4 or 5 kings showed up under the wharf. I reeled in my live gars and started tickling their noses but they didnt want a bar of it so i Began cubing up with pilchards and they came up and slowly and ate each cube i was throwing, so i send one out with a hook in it and came up tight a few seconds later. After a good tussle in amongst structure up came a 70cm king. Had high hopes after that but the school moved on so i packed up at 10 since it was dead low and had a nice king on ice. Also found a little whiting in its gut when cleaning it which was interesting.

  21. Headed to the harbour this morning to see if there was any action. Bait was a block of pillys arrived on location and started a berley trail and quickly noticed some bonito zipping in between. Sent out an unweighted pilly cube and first cast bang, onto a nice watsons leaping bonito. They fired up m0re as the tide came up and since i had enough for a feed i started getting them on plastics and surface lures. Kept 7 for the table and threw back twice as much but it was great fun on light tackle. Headed home around midday.
