  2. thats a beast! Great catch mate. Only ever caught juvies myself but my grandfather caught a few nice 50cm+ models when I was a kid... surprisingly on a beach worm intended for a school jew on mid-nth coast. Tight lines Anthony
  3. G/W Rev, thats a nice soapie jew. Well done mate Tight lines Anthony
  4. It pays to look around bigger beaches aswell as the gutters change frequently whereas on smaller beaches or enclosed beaches dont change too much. I like to fish areas next to structure like reef and bombies where I can or where an entry/exit to a tributary or lake pours into the beach for better catches. Bags may consist of flatties/taylor/salmon/jew/whiting/trevs and flounder. Good luck! Tight lines Anthony
  5. I dont think you could ask for more than a clean bill of health Roberta- thats great news in time for Xmas for you both. Cheers Anthony
  6. Great to hear Tugger's is well stocked with flatties- I got a holiday house up that way... really need to get back up there and have a bash with the plastics. Thanks for the report mate, great catch there. Anthony

  11. + 1 for Musty suggestion- there is no point in getting a specific rod for unweighted pillies... BUT... I wouldnt go anything below 10 foot for any casting type application esp from the ocean rocks, and I wouldnt go above 13 foot. I would get a rod in either 5-8kg or 8-12kg and use a 7000 or bigger reel (for capacity) and load up with 30lb braid with mono backing. Brands like Wilson, Silstar, Shimano and even UglyStiks are great casting rods in the longer versions, and make good spin rods aswell if you are so inclined to have a go @ chucking lures around... Musty mentioned the "8 wrap snyder glass" rod... well I have one and they are designed to be used with Alvey's, they're heavy but cast a mile without a doubt and are tough as nails, matched to a 600 series Alvey they are hard to beat for toughness and relibaility... so easy to maintain... beat overheads hands down and outcasts most spin gear. Good luck with the search Anthony
  12. hahaha... Ta mate... Im a bit partial to a brew while fishin... Cheers Anthony
  13. G/W on the Trevs mate, although I dont eat em I sure like their spirited fights, the go hard and straight for the structure! ... Nice to see a female angler getting into a few... I wish my Mrs was into fishing these days... sadly though that was a thing of the past... Oh well... thats fishing \ Tight lines always Anthony
  14. Shoalhaven Heads weekend- charter outta Kiama cannot wait!

  15. I agree with slinky- 7 or even 8 foot is nowhere near long eneough for rock hopping and beach fishing... 10 foot minimum required, preferably 12 or 13 foot. Good rods include UglyStik, Wilson Live Fibre and Silstar Crystal Powertip For reels any of the ones you mention are great reels, but also consider the Alveys they are the toughest reels you can get, totally 100% salt proof, rust proof and a piece of piss to maintain (wash in fresh water and light lube every 6 months) Line I'd stick to 20 or 30lb MAX and use a good mono backing before you lay on the braid. Good luck! Tight lines Anthony

  21. OR some metals... seem to work pretty good... try halco twisty they're pretty good- are also good for bonnies, striped tuna, rat kingies and taylor. Have you tried to troll the lures as opposed to sitting and casting them???... might be worth a try around the headlands. Good luck Anthony
  22. What a whopper crap (i mean carp, lol) Bet she went like a cracker on bream gear., and even more satisfying you did a service to the waterways while eradicating such a pest. Hope you snared soem nice big muddy's for the effort Tight lines Anthony
