    Solar charger

You can have 100 "damn good" solar panels. but in the end of the day it depends how the sun is and which way the solar panels are facing. But i was suggesting is that @Bloggsyshould get a solar charge controller to charge a flat battery or can go into float mode that will trickle charge a flat battery. And solar does work. I run 2 fridges in my car 24/7 for the past 2 years and never had to charge my secondary battery. I just park my car in the sun on the weekend. But what do i know? it was sugestion. not that your post added anything with helping @Bloggsys question.

    Solar charger

Depends what batteries you have and their max charging input. a good starting point would be a 20a or 25a mppt charger. but if you just want to trickle charge. Low amp solar controller will be fine
  3. Iv always thought about it incase i do lose traction on ramp. But im fortunate to have an awd car. So cant really speak about @Volitan’s concern. I’v never had any first hand experience with a tray back hilux. But i have mates with all sorts of hiluxes from n70s to n80s with different rear setups ranging from aluminium tray. Body tub with and without fibreglass canopies that retrieve their boats with no issues. Even the mate with an aluminium tray retrieves his 5m fibreglass boat with no issues. @Volitanyou’ll be alright. Just dont overthink it.
  4. Maybe invest in a set of off road recovery tracks?
  5. I think some of you guys are overthinking this. None of my mates boats struggled at ramps we used. But that is my opinion.
  6. Let us know how you go. My 50hp yammy is 33years old. And im considering a 4stroke in the near future. Or new boat
  7. I used to purchase crab traps off them many years ago also. Apparently Gansel is now located in Ingleburn. not sure if they are open to the public. Very affordable prices if you arent into big name brands

    tef gel

Quick google suggest it does not electrically insulate hardware. I smear marine grease on my battery terminals. Messy but works for me
  9. Nope. No half hitches. Just fg to rizutto
  10. I find finishing off the fg knot with a rizzuto knot works best. Slimmer finish, it just glides through the guides when casting
  11. Awesome report. I will be heading out this saturday. Lets hope they are still there
  12. I have caught them off an infamous rock ledge near wollongong.
  13. Having used the ramp on anzac day. I didnt get any itches. But i did rinse my legs when rinsing off the boat at the boat wash area
  14. Usually there would be one patrolling ranger car going up and down the beach during the day. But afternoon onwards i dont see them anymore
  15. Im pretty confident you arent allowed to have fires on stockton beach, only at the designated camping area at Ganyamalbaa beach camping area. And only in the provided fire pits. Im regular fish there with my young family and the amount of hoons and especially at night puts me off stockton beach. Worms are plenty there. Gun bait for bream and whiting. But all i seem to catch are shovel nose sharks on them
  16. I wouldnt call them long cast reels. Long cast reels spool are something like a shimano ultegra xtc or penn rival longcast. Big difference in spool size
  17. A longer/taller spool lets the line spool out easier to cast further
  18. Love it. Enjoy your new rod
  19. My pick of the bunch would be the coltsniper. But would look at the m or mh as the h model is rated 65lbs. a stiffer tip would be mote suited to popper
  20. Shimano uses a dry anti reverse clutch. Shouldnt be lubing/greasing them
  21. Im sure most tackle shops would service them what you are referring to is shimano aus will not warrant any warranty on non domestic reels
