  1. I have built a few rods in the past as what i wanted costed an arm and a leg (eg. samurai or battler) Havnt built one recently, pretty much repair rods for friends and family. Have been eyeing a few cheap builds for the kids. Only for the coloured blanks!
  2. The tow points are a solid piece which is probably rated higher than the splits rings attached to it. also can only assume cheaper lures use cheaper components hence bigger split rings. A quality stainless ring would be smaller than a similar rated split ring. You pay for what you get
  3. We used to get baby squids when prawning with our drag nets down at alfords pt bridge around 10yrs ago
  4. Nice. just checked it out. We get trickles of what is out there globally
  5. Im sure can buy half the rod off shimano. New zodias is/will be out in japan. Maybe another 5years to hit aus if even at all. my sephias bb rod was released in japan in ‘14 which i bought from japan. Shimano aus only released it last year
  6. I doubt repairable. And i doubt you can buy shimano blanks. Either buy similar blank and reuse guides. Buy a new rod or wait for new zodias to be released in australia
  7. Iv always wanted to pair it with a daiwa vadel. If i can find one at the right price then i would snatch it up. but as of now it can wait
  8. I wouldnt buy a reel based on max drag. Smooth is what im after. I picked it up for $250. was an impulse buy. hence no hurry to use it when i have a setup that works
  9. I have a lateo2 110xh thats rated to something similar to 60-150g i think. Bought it was the same reason. But havt used it yet as im yet to find a reel that i like and can afford to pair it with. and always seem to go for my lighter outfit when fishing off the rocks
  10. Im pretty prawn drag nets are legal
  11. My mate has the demon blood 72mh. And compared that to my shimano jewel 802tw. It is a much better rod. Only advantage the jewel has is that it being an 8ft you could use it to stickbait/popper off the rocks We both use saragosa 10k but definitely the demon blood.
  12. Should of swam onto their boat and roughed them up. But in all seriousness. You have their boat rego and could of reported them
  13. Use a razor blade to trim back the cable ties
  14. Never used Ballistol. And i know importing the shimano grease sprays are a pain. While i dont use the service ports as i service my reels after every season. Are the inox mx5 oil dropper bottles an option? i use them to oil my finesse reel bearings and roller bearings. Never had an issue with it dissolving grease.
  15. Nice one. Probably better than the 2 you asked about
  16. I have a 5000fk and used to have a 3000fk. Same build. Only difference is only the 5000fk has shimano carbon washers. While 4000fk and under has felt washers
  17. ci4 is just carbon fire reinforced plastic. i can absolutely guarantee the FK is not an aluminium body as iv taken apart mine many times and it is plastic of some kind. most of shimano reels use CF aluminium spools. But then on the shimano au website shows the ci4 uses hagane body and a ci4 body? just marketing.
  18. Dude, in no way is the FK built of aluminium and the ci4 built out of carbon fibre..........
  19. ci4 are prone to stem twisting. so if you are after a 4000 to throw slugs off the rocks or big snapper off a boat. i would choose an FK over a ci4 for the bigger size
  20. Bundeena wharf is where i fish with my daughter some warm nights Never had an issue with rangers or coppers. but if one does get a "heavy fine" dont blame me
  21. Why not pair the 6000 and 8000 on the terez 30-50lb and see how they feel in your hands
  22. Seen some guys pierce A hole somewhere on their head
  23. The bail spring guide has popped out of it slot on the bail arm. Just open the cover on the side of the bail arm with the line roller and slot it back in. The bail spring guide sits inside the spring. not that hard. would take about 1min.
